Trump Transition

When corporations aren't doing well and the CEO is replaced, usually lots of senior people get shown the door and replaced by people the new boss wants and thinks will do a better job. Happens all the time.
The corporation was doing just fine and this kind of excessive purge with no rhyme or reason is unprecedented and let's not pretend he'll fill the positions with better candidates because it's a requirement now that they be an election denier to work in this admin. This is destroying all of our institutions from the inside in a willy-nilly fashion with an unelected multi-billionaire pulling the strings.

And many are career civil servants who can't be fired without cause.

I disagree on pretty much everything here. I have to agree that Trump part 2 is doing a bunch of unprecedented things. though.

A massive revenge agenda against career civil servants who serve in non-partisan roles is unprecedented - in a bad way. Do you really think this guy is capable of competently managing the loss of this amount of braindrain and experience? The last week screams that he's ill-prepared and clueless about what he's doing.

Honestly, the most alarming thing to me was the purge of all oversight Inspector Generals of multiple Government Offices.

I will admit that I'm not an expert, but I question the constitutionality of the President eliminating funding and programs that are Law with Executive Orders. Truly seems to be a serious Executive Overreach and absolutely not the intention of checks and balances intended by the framers of the Constitution.

That part honestly is pretty alarming to me.

You're absolutely right. He's already broken several laws and his Press Secretary said he believes he's allowed to. WTF

Dude is planning to be lawless and wants to run roughshod over all guardrails and any checks and balances. Plus, now that he's gotten away with multiple crimes and has immunity, he doesn't GAF.

Scary shit

I can't comment on the overreach part because i don't pretend to know all the applicable laws and regulations.

Re: Checks and balances. Lots of talk and use of that phrase that I don't think is correct. "checks and balances" aren't WITHIN each branch but rather BETWEEN each branch

A dude in an office with a job that requries some action saying I don't like this or that policy so i'm not going to do it, or i'm going to follow the old policy, or i'm going to slow roll the action, or whatever isn't "checks and balances". That is anarchy and a sure way for any organization to be ineffective.

What the framers were thinking of when they designed our system of government was the separation of powers between the three branches of our government. Each has distinct responsibilities and authority and act to limit the power and actions of the others. And then the ulimate "check and balance" is the electorate who hires and fires.

That's what I'm referring too. He is changing laws that the Legislature passed through Executive Order.

ok. i misunderstood. They will be overturned in court if that's the case. Right? Judiciary branch should be a check on EOs that fly out of bounds.

We hope. But there are concerns since the Supreme Court seemingly is a blank stamp for Trump on their current make-up.

It's also alarming that a President would even try to do this knowing that it's most likely not constitutional, but also is a supreme oversight.

It's like the attempts in many states recently to require that public schools require the 10 commandments in classrooms. We all know judicial history is that this isn't legal, but it's still happening.
