Yes, but you're also conveniently ignoring the party switch from the 40s to the 60s of Southern Democrats. Southern Democrats opposed segregation and the Civil Rights Act, and as such switched to the Republican Party because of racial backlash and social conservatism. Northern and western Democrats, for the most part, supported desegregation and civil rights for POC, which is why the Southern Democrats (read: racist white southerners) ended up switching to the Republican Party.
Prior to all of this, the pre-civil war Democrat party evolved from Jacksonian Democracy which was a belief in white male suffrage, manifest destiny, states' rights extremism, and a laissez faire economy (minimal federal gov't intervention). IDK about you, but some of that sounds eerily similar to what the current Republican platform supports.

Not at all. As the south became less racist it became more conservative and Republican. Dems are still to this day so nothing has changed. Because if you dont vote for Biden "YOU AINT BLACK" or if you are living in NY white leftist dont think blacks and Latinos even know what a computer is or how to use the internet...
How did any of this make sense in your head? The southern democrats switched parties to the republicans because they opposed segregation and the civil rights act that the national Democratic Party supported. They didn’t become “more conservative”, they switched parties because of the Southern Strategy to stoke racial animus amongst racist southerners who opposed civil rights and desegregation.

Very few dem's switched party's. The south didnt go Republican until Reagan in 80. Old Dixiecrats stayed dems until they died. The only former Dixiecrat that swapped was Storm Thurmond. I bet you have no idea what a Dixiecrat was. Its not a so called southern Dem. It was a group/club of people in Gov that were Dems. Go look up members of the Dixiecrat's. Only Storm swapped. Also Conservatives were the ones pushing for civil rights, go look at the votes. Would have failed if Dems only voted for it. In the 80's conservative Dems that voted for civil rights. Wasnt until the 90's that conservative Dems switched party's in DC and they were not Dixiecrats. Most Dixiecrats had died by that time but Robert Byrd was still there in the Democrat party serving in the Senate...It was conservative Dems and Reps that passed civil rights...

Please read about the Southern Strategy...you are remarkably off base. FTR, The south went R in '64 and didn't go Blue again until Carter in '76. Then it went R in 80 and has been R ever since.
You should do some reading on the history of the shift of the two parties and what were the catalysts for it. Here, just read the Brittanica article on the history of the Southern Strategy - it's a very interesting read and hopefully will clarify some things for you.
