A former female USAF pilot posted on LinkedIn about her situation she experienced.

There was an article on the USAF website highlighting her flyover of a women’s soccer match. That article is now removed.

She asked USAF Public Affairs why and this was their response:

“Public Affairs informed me they were ordered "to erase every article, photo, social media post, etc. that features a specific gender or race as reward, breakthrough, or other DEI lines of effort." Unfortunately, in our industry, women are a minority (15% of career engineers and 9% of aviators, according to a US survey). Since it is somewhat unusual, almost any article that was about a female also highlighted the fact that they were a female, making it susceptible to being removed.”

Please defend this action.

Ironic that we start off that it was a "female" pilot. Why does that matter unless that is an important part of her becoming qualified as a pilot?

The military is going to take a while to deprogram itself and write neutral articles don't make a persons skin color or gender a central focus of the article, ad, whatever.

Sister needs to relax and take a midol while this sorts itself out.

Posts like this are exactly why DEI is a thing. It's extremely disrespectful of Women to suggest that she take a midol, which insinuates that women are mad/grieved due to their menses. It's sexist and ridiculous and makes you look like a dumbass.

There should be one standard in the Air Force. Either you can do the job or you can't.

If you are a man and you meet the standard, great. If you are a woman and you meet the standard, great.

If you do not meet the standard, no matter what sex you are, you will not be in that role.

It's called meritocracy.

DEI is about pretending. So its no wonder they want us to pretend that women are not ornery around that time of the month. I would presume almost all women would admit to this.

DEI is fantasy land.

Hey hero, I only said that she needed to take a midol because of the fact that we're emphasizing the fact that she is female. Must be a very strong characteristic since we're leading off with that. So why wouldn't i suggest that she take one?

I'm recognizing her femaleness and being understading. See how this all works?

Honestly man, this is shockingly stupid.

Absolutely. I agree. Thats why its good that we're getting away from promoting things by emphasizing gender or race or whatever. Its just going to take a bit while the status quo gets adjusted. "the military" is a big organization and when things are coming from the top down sometimes the brush is too broad and it takes some revising or lower level organizations need to add their own policies to take care of real-world situations/confusion.

This stupidity has gone way too far

If you could define what a dumbass does, your contributions would fit that description the best.
A dumbass is someone who thinks an off-topic discussion board is a charity where people need to contribute in a meaningful way while he himself is the most despised "contributor".

I know it's hard for a non-contributor to understand, but some people actually like to use it in the way it was intended. Trust me, if someone like you despises me, I'm totally cool with that because I'd never want to be as empty and cruel as you.

This stupidity has gone way too far

Way to far started happening early 1990s. Now the military is trying to unwind the stupid and get back to focusing on the mission.

Using algorithms to comb through data to remove gay pride nonsense is going to flag "enola gay". And if someone was told, "anything with "gay" in it" then they are either going to maliciously comply or even if not, they are going to have to get clarification of the obvious. "No, this doesn't apply to, "enola gay"

It's going to take time to undo all this stuff that has taken decades to do.

Too far is pretending like you're doing something good for America by removing references to trailblazing women, the Tuskeegee Airman and Marine Fisheries services that mention the gender of fish. I wonder if the algorithm looked for words like "men" or "white?"

White male fragility runs rampant nowadays.

Alot of men realizing they aren't as special as they thought and their feelings are hurt.

I know the board is your life and it is a hard thing to hear, but this off-topic board was intended for no other reason than to keep politics away from the purpose of the website: Clemson sports. I am not like most here. I do not despise you. I think you're great! If it wasn't for you and those like you, Trump would not be kicking ass in a second term with pubs in control of both the senate and the house. If you and yours ever stop spewing the outrageous propaganda, the pubs might be in trouble. You're the best!

Too far was focusing on gender, race , sexual orientation at the expense of mission. It went to far, now it's getting rolled back. Everyone needs to keep their chins up and not get too hurt in the feels.

It's weird to me that highlighting these achievements are seen as harmful to the mission. If you want to remove DEI from the hiring process, that's one thing but going this far has darker overtones and combined with all the other things he's breaking, it feels like we're sliding into the f word.

Mar 24, 1933Law to Remedy the Distress of People and ReichCommonly known as the Enabling Act, the law ended democracy in Germany. It gave the government the power to govern legislation by decree. It gave them the legal right to make discriminatory policies in the future. Hitler was allowed to make laws that violated the Weimar constitution without the approval of the parliament or Reich President with this act.

Just need to let the dog hunt for a while. The overall drive to re focus on mission and eliminating the non essential social engineering stuff is correct, IMHO That's my main point. If a picture of a airplane gets removed (for example) in the attempt to rapidly course correct it'll just take a bit to get sorted out.
