I haven’t posted in a while. Fauci just published an Opinion in the NEJM on the 26th saying that initial predictions of 1.7-2.2 million were wrong. He said because most cases are a symptomatic and not being tested the CFR (death rate) is likely as low as .1% like that of a strong flu. Those are his words not mine. Not many running with that.
He and Birx seemed to back track this week with the 100,000 to 200,000 prediction.
We were never going to have 1.7 million deaths. I said this two weeks ago and got roasted on here.

If they said 50,000 deaths this weekend conservatives would be pissed and the country quits obeying orders. They go high to keep people scare enough to obey until we can bolster the infrastructure in cities, keep working in testing, treatments and a vaccine.
By May and June this thing slows down.

I was told there are people who are not 60 who are in hospitals in SC for this. It’s not just 60+, I was trying to say that I was optimistic that projection numbers are starting to lessen between a little over a month ago and now

Did I say stop social distancing, washing your hands and not touching your face? Also how do we know how many have already recovered from it? When they are only testing very sick people. We may already be approaching herd immunity and not even realize it. That alone could be the main reason for the improvements. hopefully this means most of the herd will be immune for wave 2.
The UK is about to be able to use 3.5 million test for Covid-19 antibodies that give results in less than fifteen minutes. It will be interesting to see how many have already had it and recovered.
All these positives will be added to new cases from last month because they are all recognized as recovered. Because they are recovered ( Recovery takes about 2-4 weeks), that’s why they have the antibodies. Therefore making the reduction in new cases even LARGER.
Also new death rates are declining and they are not affected by testing. So they are the most accurate stat right now.
