And how a major part of it was changing federal employees to schedule F so that the President could hire/fire them? And then remember how it was suggested this might lead to the administration putting “loyalty tests” in place and hiring only people who were politically loyal instead of actually qualified and competent? Then ya’ll remember how Trump said he didn’t endorse project 2025, and ya’ll said that people were being ridiculous and it would never happen?

Well… If this ain’t Fascism I don’t know what is.

The cutting of fat is long overdue.

Explaining the moment of “MAGA revelation” in an interview doesn’t sound culty to you?
This is just the maga logic cycle:

Step 1: Thing doesn’t exist, liberals are making it up

Step 2: Thing exists, but Trump doesn’t support it

Step 3: Trump supports it was the right thing to do all along

Step 4: The bad things that happened because Trump supported it aren’t real and liberals made it up

Step 5: The bad things are real, but Trump never supported the thing that caused them

Step 6: Trump supported the thing, and it was the right thing to do, liberals somehow caused the bad things

And so forth and so on

"remember how it was suggested this might lead to the administration putting “loyalty tests” in place and hiring only people who were politically loyal instead of actually qualified and competent"

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Is this about Ketanji Brown Jackson being appointed to the SC?

Ah you picked the black woman and claimed she isn’t qualified or competent.

Again, don’t you think stating when you had your “MAGA revelation” is a culty way to have an interview?

She being black or a woman has nothing to do with the fact she is unqualified unless that is a problem for you personally.

I do, but let's not pretend that every admin doesn't try to hire people with the same political viewpoints they have. Trump has just been more overt about it.

You can’t actually describe why she isn’t qualified or competent. But TV told you so.

Also great to hear you think it’s extremely culty to do what the Trump administration is doing.
You did not ask, why I thought she was not qualified. To answer your question, I rarely watch Tv news, fyi. However in this case, it was actually tv that brought me to that conclusion. I don't remember the exact questions/subject matter, but she was asked her opinion on some portions of the constitution during her confirmation hearing and was not able to answer bc she said she was not familiar with that section of the constitution. Admittedly, I was not either, but I do not consider myself a constitutional scholar. She should be.
There should be no part of the constitution a scotus judge does not have a thorough understanding of, imo. If you disagree with that we clearly have different standards for what an acceptable knowledge base is for scotus judges.

You can’t remember the question and you can’t remember the exact details but you know that whatever answer she gave she should know better. Riveting stuff.

We do have different standards. We agree there.

Oh oh oh now do Amy Coney Barrett.

Especially bc Jackson's credentials > ACB's, but it's funny how y'all overlook that when complaining about the "DEI" hire.

Are you sure that she is a woman? She (or should it be he?) can not tell the difference between a woman and a man.

Can anyone explain the reasoning behind pausing WIC? It's a great program, and is actually cost-effective. For every dollar spent, you end up saving nearly triple that in future healthcare costs THAT SAME YEAR. I thought Republicans were the "pro-life" party?

I'm actually thankful - really, honest to God - that the Democrats stole the 2020 election. The Trump we are getting now, in 2025, is leaps and bounds better than what we would have gotten in 2021.The Pence-to-Vance upgrade is huge on its own. Totally worth it just there. But now that Trump had an election stolen from him, was unjustly persecuted and prosecuted, and survived their attempt to kill him...He's unbound. Not messing around. Plus the best people in the MAGA wing of the party had four years to plan this onslaught of Executive Orders and what's going to come. The NeoCons have been crushed. America First is in control. The Democrats made a massive mistake by rigging the 2020 election against him. Little did they know...God really writes the best stories. We had to suffer for four years under the puppet Biden regime. But now...now we get this. And it's incredible.

Hey spam-bot, Do you have evidence of a stolen election in your retirement home that the rest of us haven't seen?

Can you provide a link to where this program has been stopped?

That is not what I said.
No, I do not remember the specific article or section of the constitution the question pertained to. I DO remember her answer. It was that she was not familiar with or could not recall that portion of the constitution and could not answer the question based on her lack of knowledge.

I said it was paused - not stopped. I get that Republicans don't really care about taking care of children after they've been birthed, but it's pretty shocking to see them pausing all these aid programs specifically designed to help children.

I did not see any mention of the wic program there, or anywhere else for that matter. Please point that out to me. Have wic payments been stopped/paused that you know of? Are you just making stuff up?

...What do you think "all federal financial assistance" under the OMB includes? It quite literally says the only payments not being suspended are SS and Medicare. SNAP, WIC, etc will all be suspended at 5pm today (unless they're exempted following public backlash today.)

"In a two-page memo obtained by POLITICO, the Office of Management and Budget announced all federal agencies would be forced to suspend payments — with the exception of Social Security and Medicare."

You left out all assistance paid directly to individuals. Hey, I might be wrong, we will see.

I think the public backlash will be so severe he'll end up walking it back and not have it apply to WIC/SNAP/school lunches/etc. I just don't understand the rationale behind cutting programs that help the poorest/youngest in our nation, by the "pro-life party" nonetheless, but then again that's what happens when your country is run by billionaires and grifters.

Similar to pausing all research under NIH. Which includes cancer research.

So are you saying it will be stopped at 5pm today and then started back bc of backlash when it is stopped? Just trying to get clarity on what you think is happening.

I think Trump is doing the same thing he always does which is release a ton of negative decisions, then when he faces the tiniest criticism for it he ends up retracting it and saying he was never going to do it to begin with. Then he'll say he's going to build a statue of Reagan at the border and the media will run with that until the next nonsense he says.

So you don't actually believe wic is/was being paused and actually falls under the "assistance paid directly to individuals" part you left out? Got it.

Because half of my family has died to Cancer, and I think that "research" is one of the few things that actually makes America great

I am sure this feels like a gotcha, but I don't and didn't care for Biden, unless we're playing some sort of comparison game.
I agree with both of these. I'll be shocked if funding for this is not reinstated. I am very small govt oriented. However, one place I would 100% be in favor of spending large sums of $$ is in medical research for heart disease, cancer, and anything that would help stop nicotine use.

My main issue with the pausing of research is there are a lot of things that go into these meetings etc that were previously setup and now can't happen. Yes, things like cancer research will likely be rescheduled (I say likely not definitely because what if part of the research is using stem cells or something else someone with power decides they don't like), but it could take months to do so, etc. I don't understand why you couldn't start a huge review, and then cancel things you find controversial or unworthy of funding or something as you find them. Rather than pausing it all, and then restarting, likely causing unneeded chaos. Obviously WILDLY different spheres, but feels similar to the Afghanistan withdrawal. You can agree something is a good thing, and still think the way its being handled is a sh!tshow.

Chaos is an applicable word for what is happening. Uncertainty leads to anxiety and fear. Working in the DoD, hiring has been put on pause. People that were prepared to accept an offer have been put on hold. Positions will continue to go unfilled putting more stress on system. If the goal is to blow it up, we might be on the right path. Couple that with the Continuing Resolutions that the government keeps hoisting on govt employees and offices, it makes long term planning very difficult. It might also be argued that it is actually costing taxpayers more money.
