Similar to people getting waste and fraud confused, people seem to get disagreement or someone being wrong, etc confused with someone lying.

There are facts (X happened at X o clock, so and so stated X, etc) and there are opinions (so and so is acting like a fascist or X is dumb or X is trying to doom democracy, etc). Someone having a false opinion or incorrectly predicting the future? Both not lying.

I often disagree with Dp on how far he takes some opinions, but daily people yell “liar” at him without sharing articles that refute the facts. They interpret events differently, predict different outcomes, all the time. Still different from lies.

The media doesn't control my thoughts and opinions as I'm a voracious reader and I take in many sources from all sides, including books.

My opinions are my own and I don't speak for anyone but myself and as @UrHuckleberry pointed out, sometimes I go too far because I'm constantly subjected to insults on this board from people like you and I have a hard time being as diplomatic as he is, but that just makes me an asshole (at times), not a liar.

IMO, calling me names and insulting me is an attempt to shut me up because you don't like what I have to say but you know you can't disprove it so it's an intimidation tactic to quiet me. If you really want to quiet me, don't tell lies and I won't challenge you.

It doesn't mean you're always wrong but I can vividly remember things you lied about that you insisted were true without having facts to back them up - like persisting in telling a falsehood about a school in your district that had a litter box for students who identified as furries. I would have immediately stopped to fact-check something like that before continuing to argue about it, but you didn't - you just kept on pushing the lie.

I don't remember putting any protection on my posts but if I did, I don't remember how I did it. But that shouldn't prevent you from finding a lie because I've posted in many threads on this board that you can easily access. If I lie a lot, it should be easy to find one in the first few pages on this forum. But why it's so important for you to do that, I don't understand because a poster shouldn't be subjected to personal attacks because you don't like what they say. Palmetto accused me of lying in this thread so he should be the one proving it - not the mob.

I said I care that what I say is true and I do make an effort to be sure that I'm not lying but that doesn't mean that I don't get it wrong on occasion. I'm not a perfect person in any way shape or form, but I do have a moral compass and telling the truth matters to me. That's why it's aggravating arguing with someone like you who doesn't care about the truth and willingly believes all of the propaganda people like Growls and CUTiger1997 post here. No matter how absurd it is, you react to their nonsense like it's factual when we know you haven't made any attempt to fact-check them. They don't care if their propaganda is true but you accept it and rage about it even though it's trash.

Again, I am not saying you're a liar. And I didn't lie about what you mentioned. That just never stops coming up. I conveyed something I was told from a source I trusted which ended up being false. I admitted as much, apologized and that I wouldn't do it again. Yet here we are years later and you're bringing it up. There's no there, there! That tells me you don't have a lot to go on.

My issue with folks like you can be depicted in the following snip-it from a piece done on the AfD.

There's so much wrong with this because it just takes massive leaps that completely undercut its credibility. Wanting to protect the culture of a country/society isn't the same as being xenophobic. It's also not accurate to pin the holocaust on these views. Those were two different things. That's like saying driving a car will end up in a person driving through a crowd to cause a mass casualty event. Both involve driving but the extremes involved are too absurd to even link.

I don't know a ton about the AfD and what I do know does have some concerning elements to it. But again, when you allow unchecked immigration from places that do not culturally assimilate and it ends up impacting the quality of life in a country, there's going to be a reaction. We are seeing that now and if there had been a moderate and common sense approach, we wouldn't be here now. At some point, it would be great if we became intelligent enough to recognize these wild pendulum swings from one extreme to another aren't good for us as a society.
