Traitor Stewart Rhodes Gets 18 Years

🤣🤣 finding out has never been so much fun. I hope he dies in prison.

Spoke to Wes Goodwin today

My son is playing in Dabo’s youth camp this week (which has been amazing) and I saw Wes Goodwin in the indoor practice facility. I spoke to him for a minute and said that Sammy Brown was a great get for us. He said “we got a whole bunch more big commitments coming on defense soon”.

I’m a peon and I have no Clemson insider connections but thought it was cool and worth sharing.

In a strategic power play, Notre Dame is set to replace their long-standing Athletic Director, Jack Swarbrick, with NBC Sports Chairman Pete Bevacqua, a move that could have significant implications for the financial and marketing aspects of college sports.

Swarbrick, a key figure in the crafting of the 12-team College Football Playoff model, has maintained Notre Dame's independent status, a move that has allowed them to navigate the landscape of college sports on their own terms.

Bevacqua, with his extensive experience in sports media and as a former CEO of the PGA of America, brings a wealth of knowledge in marketing and financial management.

His appointment comes at a time when the college football landscape is on the brink of significant changes, including playoff expansion.

As a Notre Dame alum, Bevacqua's appointment also reinforces the university's commitment to its own legacy and independence.

This move could potentially strengthen Notre Dame's position in the evolving landscape of college sports, allowing them to continue to chart their own course.

Adam Randall

With all the talk/excitement on the WR front , someone in the know talk to me about Randall. Will be be 100% this season? Are we plugging him in as a starter? What's the general expectation here?

The upside is tantalizing but he was a pretty big disappointment last year. Hopefully that was mostly rust / coming back quickly from a major injury, but I don't see his name brought up much. I'm hoping he can be a big boundary target for Cade. Randall, Collins and Tonio could be a solid group but I'm tired of the speculation. Ready to see some monsters take back over on the outside.

No.1 DE Eddrick Houston hopes to build stronger bonds on Georgia OV

By: Jed May - UGASports.com

BUFORD, Ga. - Forty-eight hours doesn't seem like such a long time. But official visits are different.

Prospects are around their potential future coaches for the vast majority of that time. They have fun, take pictures, and get a better idea of how they could fit in on the team.

Eddrick Houston is in the midst of a visit-filled June. The No. 1 defensive end in the 2024 class caught up with UGASports to preview his official visit to Georgia this weekend.

"I just want to build an even better relationship with the coaches," Houston said. "Three days seems like a short period of time, but it’s really a long time when you’re with them all the time. Just trying to build the relationship to see whether or not I want to call it home."

There aren't too many questions remaining for Houston about Georgia. He has been a Georgia priority for years and has visited campus numerous times.

One aspect Houston is focusing on is scheme fit. Two other top contenders, Clemson and Ohio State, run a 4-3 that would employ Houston as more of a hand in the dirt defensive end. Georgia's defense, meanwhile, is more of a 3-4.

"(Clemson) really being that 5 and the outside, being able to set the edge and still pass rush. That’s a thing I want to play," Houston said. "Whereas Georgia runs a 3-4, they would really have me at a 4i, taking on double teams just to free up the linebackers."

Houston's main relationships at Georgia have been with defensive line coach Tray Scott and assistant defensive line coach Dayton LeBlanc.

"They’re cool people off the field, but on the field they’ll coach you hard, trying to get you there," Houston said. "LeBlanc being the new one, just trying to get that knowledge from Coach Scott, which is going to be great. Maybe he can take it somewhere else like the old assistant, Coach Carson (Hall)."

Houston has a thorough process when evaluating his schools. After each visit, he lists out the pros and cons of each school.

That will continue through the rest of the month with official visits to Ohio State and Alabama. Houston then plans to commit on August 22, his 18th birthday.

Could somebody rank our WR targets for me?

I’m happy with who we got, but every thread I open people are fussing about losing out or not taking others.

Is Matthews the most talented in our scheme? Is Staley the slot guy we need?

I don’t really trust rivals rankings anymore, so it’s hard to judge. As @Paul Strelow says, it’s about the ones you get, but some of you are pretty crusty about the choices remaining on the board.

***** Tom Brady

Tom Brady is the NFL's secret weapon to help stop players from sports betting

By: Tyler Greenawalt - Yahoo! Sports

On the heels of yet another player sports betting investigation, the NFL appears to have found its version of McGruff the Crime Dog or Smokey Bear: None other than legendary and recently-retired quarterback Tom Brady.

Brady reportedly starred in a recorded educational video for the league where he explains the NFL's gambling policy, according to 9News' Mike Klis. This video is reportedly being shown at the team’s rookie minicamps and training camps and sounds like one of the three ways the NFL notifies its players of what is and isn't allowed. The basic tenets of the policy are simply: Don't bet on anything NFL-related and don't place bets at team facilities.

While we don't have a copy of the video, Klis detailed what it's included in Brady's message:

"[Brady] talks about his love of football and how the opportunity to play in the NFL was a privilege of a lifetime. He then says betting on NFL games hurts the integrity of the league and the reputation of everyone on your team and it’s just not worth it.
"... [he] also emphasizes how the players worked too hard to get the NFL to let one bad decision ruin the opportunity — not just for you, the player, but your teammates and tomorrow’s players.
"Brady concludes his message by imploring players to do the right thing and follow the league’s guidelines on gambling, which will be explained shortly, to help the NFL continue to be the greatest league in the world."

One can only imagine something similar to the iconic Rachael Leigh commercial from the 1990s where she smashes an egg with a frying pan to symbolize what happens to a human body on heroin.

NFL suspended 6 players for gambling since 2022

The 2023 season is still months away, but six players have already been suspended in the past year. Two others, including Indianapolis Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers and an unnamed member of the Detroit Lions, could be as well. Four of those five players were also members of the Lions while the other, defensive end Shaka Toney, plays for the Washington Commanders.

Wide receiver Calvin Ridley already served a one-year suspension this past season after the NFL determined he placed bets while away from the Atlanta Falcons. He was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2022 season and was reinstated in March.

This is the unsavory consequence of the NFL's decision to lean into the sports betting world, and it'll be a hard one to climb out of. Brady is the master of fourth-quarter comebacks, but the NFL is counting on his message to do a lot of work to clean up the league's mess.

Whether or not Brady's message will work remains to be seen.
