I'm pretty old and grew up when there was no such thing as MyTruth (where A person appoints himself the purveyor of truth based upon his own proclivities of truth. If HisTruth is offended, the MyTruther takes away from all others.) What about these non-football topics:
Prayer Threads - Atheists offended?
Penny Stock Thread - Communists, Socialists offended?
Hard Rock Music or R Rated Movie Threads - Fundamental Christians offended?
In Thread Locker Room References (pictorial references that sexualize women or parts of the male anatomy when excited) - Women offended
Those folks likely have an equal if not greater reason to whine about the non-football content on this board. Rather than whine incessantly about a topic, in content postings, or a topic, most seem to exercise their freewill and read only topics of interest, perhaps read posts and shake their heads in disbelief, or ignore posters. There are other ways to handle things that personally make one uncomfortable than taking away things others enjoy.
This thread has been widely viewed. At the Spring Game yesterday, I chuckled at the crowd in front of me who were deep into a discussion of the Murdaugh stories. Seems that one of the women had been close friends with Maggie; one family's kids were frequent guests; and another got sued when one of AM's clients fell into an armadillo hole. I thought about leaning in and reminding them this was a Spring Football game, not a beauty salon, and then I thought better. Their conversation had nothing to do with why I was there yesterday, but I couldn't help but eavesdrop because the wind blew their conversations backwards.
You make good points.
Agree with you and have no issues there.
I would add, however, that the topics you mentioned (for the most part) come and go frquently on the board and actually add a little interest. At least for me.
Kinnils thread has become a permanent place and a running soap opera.
Unnecessary soap opera. < Again, in my humble opinion.
It's a fixture. Shouldn't be.
People can find it on whatever board it might be moved to.
I don't really care what Chris's deciscion is about it.
It's his board and I'll never stop subscribing.
This is my last comment, ever, on the subject.
It's a can of worms opened for no reason from where I sit.
Happy Palm Sunday to all!
One of my favorites!
Easter is joy unfettered, but with a sad memory fringe of the Darkest Day.
JOY! He is Risen.
Yet, I always think: What did His disciples (without the Spirit's reminding yet) feel?
"All is lost"
"The Pharisees will surely track us down and kill us"
"Oh the hope we had..... How empty we are..!!"
Then...............
BOOM
Happy Early Easter to everyone!
