The Republican-led House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed several major banks requesting financial records for the Biden family, per Fox News.
Fox News reports:
Fox News has confirmed that the Oversight Committee subpoenaed Bank of America, Cathay Bank, JPMorgan Chase, HSBC USA N.A., as well as former Hunter Biden business associate Mervyn Yan asking for financial records.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, complained that Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., was trying to hide information regarding the investigation from Democrats on the committee.
In a statement to Fox News, Comer said “Ranking Member Raskin has again disclosed Committee’s subpoenas in a cheap attempt to thwart cooperation from other witnesses. Given his antics with the first bank subpoena, the American people and media should be asking what information Ranking Member Raskin is trying to hide this time. No one should be fooled by Ranking Member Raskin’s games. We have the bank records, and the facts are not good for the Biden family.

Congressional probe uncovers tie between Biden campaign, security letter dismissing Hunter laptop

Republicans now believe the letter that falsely portrayed laptop as disinformation was a consequential interference in the last presidential election.

Aided by two Obama-era witnesses, congressional investigators led by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan have developed the first evidence that a letter from security experts that falsely dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop as Russian disinformation during the 2020 election had ties to Joe Biden's presidential campaign.

Whistleblower bombshell: IRS agent alleges DOJ thwarting criminal prosecution of Hunter Biden

Whistleblower account to inspector general, notification to Congress calls into question AG Merrick Garland testimony.

By John Solomon
Updated: April 20, 2023 - 1:09am
Adecorated supervisory IRS agent has reported to the Justice Department's top watchdog that federal prosecutors appointed by Joe Biden have engaged in "preferential treatment and politics" to block criminal tax charges against presidential son Hunter Biden, providing evidence as a whistleblower that conflicts with Attorney General Merrick Garland's recent testimony to Congress that the decision to bring charges against Biden was being left to the Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney for Delaware.
According to a letter from the whistleblower's attorney Mark Lytle to Congress obtained by Just the News, the IRS agent revealed he is seeking to provide detailed disclosures about a high-profile, sensitive case to the tax-writing committees in Congress, which have special authority under federal tax privacy laws to receive such information. That could pave the way to share the details with other committees in coming weeks.
The letter does not state that the whistleblower disclosures are related to Hunter Biden. However, Just the News has independently confirmed the agent's allegations involve the Hunter Biden probe being led by Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, a Trump holdover, according to multiple interviews with people directly familiar with the matter.
In a letter Wednesday to Republicans and Democrats overseeing multiple oversight committees in Congress, Lytle wrote: "The protected disclosures: (l) contradict sworn testimony to Congress by a senior political appointee, (2) involve failure to mitigate clear conflicts of interest in the ultimate disposition of the case, and (3) detail examples of preferential treatment and politics improperly infecting decisions and protocols that would normally be followed by career law enforcement professionals in similar circumstances if the subject were not politically connected."

Hunter Biden has acknowledged since December 2020 that he has been under criminal investigation for tax matters, and his representative disclosed last year he paid overdue tax bills totaling $2 million. He has expressed confidence he will be cleared of criminal wrongdoing.
Two powerful House Committee chairmen vowed Wednesday that they would investigate and hold the Biden administration accountable if they were involved in criminal activity. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said that "obstruction of justice" could have occurred.
“It’s deeply concerning that the Biden Administration may be obstructing justice by blocking efforts to charge Hunter Biden for tax violations," Comer said in a statement to Just the News. "The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability has been following the Bidens’ tangled web of complex corporate and financial records."
"It’s clear from our investigation that Hunter and other members of the Biden family engaged in deceptive, shady business schemes to avoid scrutiny as they made millions from foreign adversaries like China," the statement continued. "We’ve been wondering all along where the heck the DOJ and the IRS have been. Now it appears the Biden Administration may have been working overtime to prevent the Bidens from facing any consequences."
Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith said that the committee will go where the facts lead and investigate.
“We appreciate this outreach and look forward to sitting down promptly with this individual to better understand the scope and detail of the concerns raised," Chairman Smith wrote in a statement. "The Committee takes seriously any allegations of misconduct by government officials or offices and will, on behalf of American taxpayers, look into concerns that are brought to our attention. It is our responsibility to ensure the tax code is applied fairly and appropriately to all Americans – whether through the oversight efforts this Committee initiates or the need for oversight that is brought to our attention."
The IRS agent has a sterling record investigating tax crimes across the globe, including work on high-profile Swiss Bank prosecutions, and has won several merit awards. His emergence now in such a politically charged case is certain to inflame a debate over unequal justice in Washington. The whistleblower originally approached the IRS' internal watchdog and Congress late last year with the help of prominent Democrat lawyer Mark Zaid, who previously represented clients whose allegations about a call with the Ukrainian president led to Donald Trump's first impeachment in 2019.
The agent subsequently hired Lytle, a former federal prosecutor with significant experience in prosecuting complex tax matters with the Justice Department's Tax Division. Lytle also represented former Twitter head of Trust and Safety Yoel Roth in his recent congressional testimony and is currently defending a former FBI supervisor named Timothy Thibault who has been accused of pro-Biden political bias in anonymous whistleblower disclosures to the offices of Sens. Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan.
Lytle told lawmakers in his letter that the IRS agent has also disclosed his concerns to both the Treasury Department Inspector General for Tax Administration and Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, the same watchdog who unmasked FBI abuses during the Russia collusion case.
People directly familiar with the case have described the disclosures to Just the News as focused primarily on improper politicization of the case at the Justice Department and FBI headquarters rather than at the IRS or Treasury Department.
Specifically, the agent has provided evidence that at least two Biden DOJ political appointees in U.S. attorneys' offices have declined to seek a tax indictment against Hunter Biden despite career investigators' recommendations to do so and the blessing of career prosecutors in the DOJ tax division.
He also alleges that Weiss told agents on the case that the Delaware U.S. Attorney asked to be named a special counsel to have more independent authority in the probe but was turned down, according to interviews.
The agent also alleged that specific DOJ employees placed strictures on questions, witnesses and tactics investigators may be allowed to pursue that could impact President Biden, according to the interviews.
The sources said the agent's decision to blow the whistle was prompted by sworn testimony from Garland that Delaware U.S. Attorney Weiss had full authority, free from political pressure, to pursue a case against Hunter Biden in any part of the country, according to interviews.
In an interview with Just the News, Lytle said he could not yet identify the specific case his client had raised concerns about or the specific political appointees whose actions or testimony raised concerns because of tax confidentiality laws. But he confirmed that one senior DOJ official's recent testimony played a role in the agent coming forward to blow the whistle.
"I can say that he's been working diligently on a high-profile case," the lawyer said during an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast, explaining that his client "was concerned about some statements by a senior political appointee from the Department of Justice that contradicted what he knew to be the facts of the case."
Lytle said his client is a career law enforcement official who hasn't made any political donations and doesn't even use social media. "He is just a guy who likes his job as a law enforcement officer, as an investigator, and he takes it seriously, and he's dedicated," he said. "And when he sees something that is not routine and doesn't follow the rules, or ... something maybe is affected by politics — that's what made him come forward."
The agent wants both Democrats and Republicans to hear his account and be able to question him, Lytle said.
"He's insisted that when he comes forward, this is not to talk to just one party or the other party," the lawyer said. "He wants to make sure that when he tells his story, both sides are there, so that he can present it, and they can sort it out. He doesn't want to be accused of picking a side, even if that might happen anyway. But he has information, it's credible, and it's supported by emails and documents."
Lytle added that if his client is cleared to talk to Congress he also will be able to identify contemporaneous witnesses to corroborate his claims of political interference.
"I believe he'll be able to talk about these meetings that he attended, that were with both agents and prosecutors," he explained, "and how he summarized those meetings and put it in writing and distributed those to folks within the IRS and sometimes to other agents as well. And so those are all in writing, contemporaneous. And then there's emails too, so those are important documents that will ... I think, end up corroborating his credibility."
Horowitz's team has conducted an extensive debriefing of the IRS agent, reviewed documents purporting to corroborate his claims, and is purportedly in the process of seeking out other law enforcement witnesses from the IRS and FBI who can back up parts of his story, according to interviews.
One of the issues key to the whistleblower's concerns involves which U.S. attorney's office has the authority to bring criminal tax charges and where. The whistleblower alleged that Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney David Weiss could not legally bring charges in Delaware. Because of where Hunter Biden lived at the time his tax returns were filed, Weiss needed the permission of Biden-appointed U.S. attorneys in other districts to bring charges outside of Delaware. The agent alleges two such U.S. attorneys appointed by Biden declined his requests, according to interviews.
In testimony as recently as last month, Garland told Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley that Weiss had full authority to bring charges in any district he needed. "If it's in another district, he would have to bring the case in another district," Garland said. "But as I said, I promise to ensure that he's able to carry out his investigation and that he'd be able to run it. And if he needs to bring it in another jurisdiction, he will have full authority to do that."
The IG has obtained contemporaneous government emails and memos in DOJ files documenting to IRS leadership what the agent believed was evidence of political interference and biased behavior by DOJ employees. The agent is willing to make the same evidence available to Congress, according to Lytle's letter.
The DOJ IG has deemed the agent's allegations to be credible and serious enough to gather and preserve the corroborating documents and seek witnesses, according to the interviews. IRS cases involving uncharged defendants are covered by extraordinary privacy protections under the law even when a person has acknowledged he is under tax investigation.
However, the tax secrecy laws explicitly authorize disclosures to the committees in Congress with jurisdiction over tax laws, such as the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees. Both committees received the letter from the whistleblower's counsel seeking an invitation to testify to both sides of the political aisle about the controversy.
Inspectors general for the IRS and the Justice Department were copied on the letter from the whistleblowing agent's lawyer to Capitol Hill, which offers to provide a more detailed description of the testimony with the proper legal protections afforded by tax secrecy and whistleblower protection laws.
The committees with special authority to receive the tax whistleblower allegations will likely have to decide whether and how the details could be forwarded to the panels overseeing the FBI and DOJ, including the House and Senate Judiciary Committees, officials said.
David Weiss, the Justice Department and Hunter Biden's attorney Chris Clark have not responded for comment.

This is getting to the point that they are going to have more trouble ignoring it. I know that Joes endgame is to pardon all of it on his way out.

uh, pretty much everyone who has ever worked for or been in business with the trump organization is in prison, has been convicted or is currently undergoing trial? I know you clearly don't base arguments on facts and reasoning and your sources are hilariously bad, but surely even you can admit that
To be honest, I highly doubt there's a handful of our elected politicos in DC who are seriously honest by the time they leave DC. Don't GAF what party.

Its becoming more clear by the day. We are at a Nexus point. If congress does not act on this then it becomes very apparent that there is a deep state which we know anyway and its protecting its own and attacking everyone else.

Ex-top spy admits Hunter Biden laptop letter designed to influence 2020 election, Blinken involved

Extraordinary admission by career intelligence officer Michael J. Morell provides stunning evidence that the now-infamous letter from 51 security officials in October 2021 was not an organic intelligence community event but rather a political dirty trick.

Aformer acting CIA director has admitted to Congress that he organized the letter that falsely portrayed Hunter Biden's laptop as Russian disinformation in an effort to influence the 2020 election in favor of Joe Biden and that he did so at the direction of current Secretary of State Antony Blinken, according to a letter released Thursday by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan.
The extraordinary admission by career intelligence officer Michael J. Morell provides stunning evidence that the now-infamous letter from 51 security officials in October 2021 was not an organic intelligence community initiative but rather a political dirty trick originating with Blinken and the Biden campaign.
Jordan sent a letter demanding Blinken answer a series of questions about Morell's stunning testimony, as lawmakers weighed the enormity of America's top diplomat being willing to accuse a nuclear-armed superpower of interfering in the 2020 election without evidence. That letter included major snippets of Morell's testimony.
Morell, who retired as deputy CIA director after a long and storied career and served as its acting chief, was on the short list in fall 2020 to be Biden's CIA director when he became involved in the letter. He ultimately did not receive the job.
In a transcribed interview with the House Judiciary government weaponization subcommittee, Morell admitted he got involved with the letter at Blinken's request and later received a call from the Biden campaign thanking him when Joe Biden used the letter and its false implication to blunt criticism of Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings
The transcript of Morell's interview showed he had no intent to write the statement and that Blinken's "call triggered" his actions.
The same day Blinken reached out to Morell, an article was published in USA Today alleging that the FBI was looking into the laptop as part of a "disinformation campaign."
"Morell testified that his communication with you was one of a few communications he had with the Biden campaign, explaining that he also received a call from Steve Ricchetti, Chairman of the Biden campaign, following the October 22 debate to thank him for writing the letter," Jordan wrote Blinken.
You can read the letter here:

Included in Jordan's letter was Morell's recollection of the call.
"After the debate — I think it was after the debate — in fact, I'm pretty sure it was after the debate — I got a phone call from Jeremy Bash, who I work with at Beacon and who is active politically," Morrell told the Committee. "And Jeremy said: Do you have a minute to talk to Steve Ricchetti? I said: Of course. He was the head of the Biden campaign at the time. And Jeremy got him on the line, and Steve thanked me for putting the statement out. And that was the extent of the conversation."
He also testified that the Biden campaign team coordinated to release the statement on the laptop to a specific reporter at the Washington Post and admitted that he got involved to help give Biden a leg up on Trump during the debates.
"There were two intents," he said. "One intent was to share our concern with the American people that the Russians were playing on this issue; and, two, it was [to] help Vice President." When asked why he wanted to help Biden, he replied, "because I wanted him to win the election."
Morell, who was working as a podcaster and contributor at CBS News, was said to have been on the short list for CIA director and had his desire for a promotion leveraged against him in return for his cooperation.
A spokesman for CBS News did not immediately return an email from Just The News earlier this week, seeking comment from Morell or the network.
Jordan wrote that based on this testimony, "it is apparent that the Biden campaign played an active role in the origins of the public statement, which had the effect of helping to suppress the Hunter Biden story and preventing American citizens from making a fully informed decision during the 2020 presidential election.
"We believe that you possess material that would advance our oversight and inform potential legislative reforms. Accordingly, we ask that you please provide the following information and records in your personal possession:
  1. Identify all people with whom you communicated about the inception, drafting, editing, signing, publishing, or promotion of the 'Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails' dated October 19, 2020, during the period October 14, 2020, to November 24, 2020; and
  2. Produce all documents and communications referring or relating to the 'Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails' dated October 19, 2020, sent or received between October 14, 2020, and November 24, 2020."
The Committee asked Blinken to produce these items "no later" than May 4, 2023 and also requested they be from his "personal" materials, as he was not yet serving as Secretary of State when these events were unfolding.
"Because these events occurred prior to your nomination and confirmation as Secretary of State, we seek your cooperation with our requests in your personal, and not your official capacity," the letter concluded.
This revelation comes just four days after Jordan told Just the News he expects to release a report from the House panel on weaponization of government later this month, laying out detailed evidence and the key players behind the letter.
"It was all done with politics, and it looks like there was some some real connections with the Biden campaign," Jordan said during an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast, declining to be more specific because there are more witness interviews being conducted.

It also comes just three days after House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.) told the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show that the laptop coverup was what won Joe Biden the presidency.
"Would Joe Biden be the president United States if there hadn't been the laptop cover-up?" he asked. "I doubt it. Would inflation be where it is if there hadn't been laptop cover-up? I doubt it. You know, we're paying a price right now for the double standard in journalism."
Just The News reached out to CBS and Morrell again, to inquire if he still works at the network, but got no response.
The last posting of his weekly podcast appears to have been dated March 29th, and there has not been a new episode since.
The State Department issued a brief response when asked about the letter, attributed to an agency spokesperson.

"As a general matter, we do not comment on Congressional correspondence or ongoing investigations," the reply read.

Still FAKE NEWS!! Funny that you are worried about editing now since you never said a word when the J6 kangaroo committee was editing prolifically to fit their narrative.
We saw January 6th happen with our own eyes - no editing needed. You did not see the full transcript of Jordan's propaganda tweet because he wanted to hide it from you because he knows you're a sucker for disinformation. No proof needed if it fits your ignorant narrative.

So your view is that Blinken called this guy just for advice and this guy decided to contact 50 other intelligence officials to submit statements calling the laptop Russian disinfo? Do you know how hard it is to get 50 officials to agree and submit something that may come back to haunt them? Especially intelligence officials.

If they go after Jim for altering documents, then I'm good with that but it doesn't change the narrative. Blinked contacted him, he contacted others (or someone in Biden's camp did).

My view is that Jim Jordan purposely misrepresented the interview in order to fool people into thinking he had found a smoking gun that would incriminate the Biden administration. It doesn't even matter if it's true because all the red hats will forever claim it happened just like he portrayed it, despite the facts. That's how easily these disinformation campaigns work on the Right - just say it and it becomes an ironclad truth.

I don't know who organized it but someone must have but so the fvck what - insane how much head space you people devote to a damn laptop that didn't even incriminate Joe. People hated Trump and voted him out so get over it.

Hmmmm......so Jim did what the J6 committee did using millions of tax payer dollars to spin a one sided narrative without any rebuttal? Crazy that he would do something so misleading when it's not the norm.......

Still curious how they were able to rally 50 high ranking intelligence officials to certify this was Russian disinformation on incredibly short turnaround time. Sorry buddy but this was coordinated centrally. The only real question is who coordinated it.
