Sounds a lot like the average college student- some are bright, some not; some are rich, some not; some seek to serve their country, some..... well some just bitch on message boards.
Having served, gone to graduate school and taught at the college level- the differences in intelligence are minor, differences in parental income is significant, and motivation/determination- let’s just say the averages favor the vet. There are exceptions, but there’s not as much difference in innate talent you would like to believe,but if it makes you feel better about yourself, so be it.

i’m not sure if you would have gotten into High School ROTC, much less any service academy. I got into The Citadel, Airforce, VMI, but went with Clemson. I’m brining it all night @johnhugh.
