There was no known crime to investigate, initially. This is simply a witch hunt; an investigation looking for a crime.

So, you're agreeing that there are no known crimes that were initially being investigated. That's not how Special Counsel appointments are supposed to work.
Ken Starr began with a known crime, Whitewater. I'll agree that it expanded from there and went on too long; which resulted in Clinton committing the process crime of perjury. They changed the law after that; from Special Prosecutor to the Special Counsel law that we currently operate under.
This current investigation began as a Counter Intelligence investigation of Russian influence in an election that illegally turned into a Special Counsel investigation by the same DEEP State operatives who are all about to be exposed. There was no known crime to trigger the investigation. If any president commits crimes; while in office, the Constitution has a built in remedy. Impeach and convict; thus removing him/her from office and then any other legal recourse.
If anyone in government commits crimes; not just the president, shouldn't they face justice?
