I actually started looking, not seriously though we got a good deal on the beamer so we'd have to put in more $$ to get a later model. That's the only thing about EVs that give me pause. Range (which is getting way better) and battery life. I know that batteries get less efficient as time goes on so going too far back in the used market can't be good. No telling what's been going on with the car and how it was maintained and in the case of EVs the battery is the big thing.
Trump didn't dislike the electric cars per say, i doubt he had ever ridden in one, he hated that the government was mandating the change.

A judge today that ruled against him digging around in our SS system spoke for a lot of us.
“The DOGE team is essentially engaged in a fishing expedition at [the agency], in search of a fraud epidemic, based on little more than suspicion. It has launched a search for the proverbial needle in the haystack, without any concrete knowledge that the needle is actually in the haystack,” she added.
The team has “unbridled access to the personal and private data of millions of Americans,” but has “never identified or articulated even a single reason” why DOGE would need “unlimited access” to Social Security’s entire record systems, which would risk “exposing personal, confidential, sensitive, and private information that millions of Americans entrusted to their government,” the judge wrote in her ruling.
“Indeed, the government has not even attempted to explain why a more tailored, measured, titrated approach is not suitable to the task,” she said. “Its method of doing so is tantamount to hitting a fly with a sledgehammer.”
She noted the irony of the government fighting to conceal the identities of DOGE staff “because defendants are concerned that the disclosure of even their names would expose them to harassment and thus invade their privacy.”
“The defense does not appear to share a privacy concern for the millions of Americans whose [Social Security] records were made available to the DOGE affiliates, without their consent, and which contain sensitive, confidential, and personally identifiable information,” she wrote

You and I have been going back and forth on this for a while. You probably don't really understand the nuance of my stance, but I contend, that Tesla is over valued and thats why I sold the stock after owning it for YEARS, back in 2022. The reality is other car companies have lapped Tesla in self driving. That Tesla's platform for self driving is lacking and that the software is not good enough. I read and researched this years ago, and realized the speculation on Tesla was less as a car company and more as a tech company. In my estimation is very overvalued, right now and its propped up by Tesla bros cult like need to be right. The value right now makes sense if you can, today, run a taxi company out of your Telsa. Can you? nope. Will you? nope. Meanwhile Waymo is already doing this, like in the real world.
