Forbes top 5 most dangerous cities in America

My sister lived there by herself for 15 years and said she never felt unsafe.

magas have to believe all the bad stuff they hear about "cities with Dem mayors," from Trump, Alex Jones and Steve Bannon, because all the violence and insanity they insist is happening, sure isn't happening where they live.

I’m not gonna do the work but maybe someone can look up murder/violent crime rates in rural Appalachia. They have staggering poverty and drugs but do they have the violent crime that accompanies that in the cities?

Something the receipts show we agree on the facts. First foremost individuals should learn the responsibilities of a local mayor and stop thinking his duties are the same as the Governor of the State, the House representatives or 2 senators.

4 out of 5 states are under Republican control not to mention the State representatives who are responsible to secure federal grants, awards etc to said States and localities.
Then let's agree to squash the silly beef and fight the good fight on the same side.

Why would that be relevant to the discussion?

In the last few years I've been amazed as every Maga has become a walking encyclopedia of cities with Democrat mayors. And I wonder to myself, how in the world do these people know so many of America's mayors? I know the mayor of Greenville, and then usually the mayor of NY City. That's it.

So it's obvious that Maga media is filling the Maga heads with a bunch of horse shit about "cities with Democrat mayors."

I didn't push any narrative. I stated a list and stated I was surprised by 2 smallish southern towns being on it. No side chosen here bud.
My first reaction as well. Guess that I shouldn’t be surprised that “big city” violence has come to the smaller cities/towns (but I am)—especially after last year’s gang-related mass shooting in downtown Sacramento about a block from my office. I see the businesses pulling out or only being open for lunch. Asked nice couple who are the owner/operators of a fabulous Jamaican restaurant near my building if they are open for dinner (wanted to take the wife to try it). They said it’s too dangerous to stay open after 5 pm. You know what’s crazy? It’s literally right across the street from the front of the state Capitol.

City limits vs metro is huge. In SC cities really can’t annex unless empty land surrounds or sewer is bait. In NC they can annex at will.
That’s why Greenville has essentially the same population as in 1960 (70K) and Columbia is only bigger due to the 40K taxless annexation of Ft. Jackson. Both would have over 300K with more typical annexation laws.
I suspect the entire Birmingham metro is pretty safe. Chicago is quite safe minus certain areas.
GSP is by far the biggest CSA in SC with over 1.2 million but no city is over 100k

I'm not being ambiguous at all. I've already said it, not sure what else you're looking for.
Ah typical dem....afraid to address the real issue.

If you wanna call me racist, do it big guy.

I do more for minority Male youth in a week than you will do in a lifetime.

I think you're a judgmental prick. See that's how you get to the point.

It’s an opportunity for you to support or prove what appears to be your stance.

If violent crime in poor, rural, MAGA America is equal to violent crime in poor, urban, Democrat America then maybe we can dismiss one narrative and move on and focus on another. If it’s not (which I suspect is the case) then we can discuss what makes one or the other more problematic.

I honestly don’t know what the violent crime rate is in Appalachia. I have my suspicions as I mentioned above but don’t know for sure.

My city of Macon has one of the highest murder rates in the country. With that said I never felt more in danger than spending a few weeks in Birmingham, AL.

Birmingham isn’t just gang on gang crime, it’s common for someone to walk up to you at a red light and kill you for your car. There have been numerous truck drivers murdered over the last couple years leaving their terminals. Also a lot of recent college grads murdered just trying to go to work.

Birmingham was also one of the dirtiest trash filled cities I’ve ever visited. Drive down any road and you’ll see garbage all over the place.

I never thought or implied that you were a racist. I said you threw chum out to the racists with your posts every once in a while. You filled in all the rest of those blanks yourself.

Durham was up there as well recently

You don't know what ambiguous means if you think I'm being ambiguous. I said you like to throw out chum to the racists. That's it. That's been my only point the entire time. I never said or implied that your were racist. I can't help what you inferred.

But just to be clear, my criticism of you (outside of just generally having a shitty opinion on everything) is that you throw chum out like this intentionally, to stir up the racists. I'm sorry I can't make it any clearer for you.

You don’t have a scientific mind do you? I’ll help you out.

As you say, “MAGA media is filling MAGA minds with a bunch of horses—t about cities with Democrat mayors.”

This is your chance to disprove that. If violent crime in poor, rural, MAGA Republican America is the same as in poor, urban, liberal, Democrat America than you prove that this is a false narrative being driven or pushed by MAGA media (all one channel of them.). But if not that assertion takes a major hit.

Im off to the beach so you’ve got some time to think on it. I’ll check back later if this thread is not locked.

I posted a list that I found interesting. No agenda.

You went race baiting and turnee the thread political.

It wasn't a political thread.

And it doesn't surprise me that you disagree with most of my takes....they are full of facts and common sense which seem to miss most of the left

Apparently, in Birmingham, they love the governor.

Uh, no, I didn't turn it anything. It had already turned political and racist well before I came in. So you should be happy, you achieved your goal.

Hahahaha holy shit. No I'll just concede. I'm clearly no match for you.

The narrative that Chicago is some crime demon infested hellhole is largely a product of media highlighting issues contained largely to one particularly poor area of the South Side. I am in the Loop, and all around Chicago every couple of weeks, and so is my wife. Never once felt unsafe. Like any other big city, you need to be constantly aware of your surroundings, but it's no better or worse than most other big cities.

The south side of chicago is an infested hellhole. Anyone arguing otherwise is not being honest.

And the crime is spreading throughout the city. I feel unsafe there quite often and there are whole sections of the city I wouldn't step foot in because i value my life.

What's the over under on the number of people getting shot on July 4th weekend? I'll set it at 80. Place your bets.

Downtown St Louis is just flat out terrible. Had a work conference there a few years ago. We went to a bar across the street from the hotel and come to find out that the owner had been murdered in the parking lot the previous year. Empty office space all over downtown, shady looking people loitering all over the place. We were highly encouraged not to walk anywhere after dark because it wasn’t safe. This was right before COVID and I can’t imagine it’s gotten much better since.

I enjoyed downtown St Louis. Not arguing that it is safe by any means and I didnt walk around after dark, but I did enjoy the city during the day and thought it was pretty cool. Thought the area around the baseball field was pretty cool and there were a couple of nice parks to visit also. Also, in the suburbs in the area up near the zoo was pretty cool and they had a few decent museums up there also.

A murder in a big city is not uncommon unfortunately and empty downtown office space is a problem in every city since covid and the work from home phenomenon.

I mean if you’re gonna call @CUPLAYER1 racist you should probably post some proof…..cause that’s a pretty gigantic accusation.

FTR I don’t ever recall him posting anything even remotely racist…..or anything as “chum to the racists.”
