Let's face it, if you're a conservative & he wins the Republican nomination, you're gonna vote for him...cause there's no way in hell you're voting for Hillary or Bernie...

So, if Trump does win the nomination, who would you like to see him choose as his running mate?

Or...who do you think could help him the most in the general election?

This is probably true, but given that Trump is a lifelong Democrat, let's face it ... you're voting for a liberal either way.

Or you vote for Gary Johnson as a Libertarian so that he can earn 5% of the popular vote and the party can get federal funding in the next election. Then, we can possibly work towards breaking out of the situation we are in now in which the two parties irrationally hate and vilify each other and actually get things done.

I see what you're saying, but this country cannot withstand another 4 years of Obama (Hillary) or to be taken down the socialism road with Bernie...voting Libertarian in this election would ensure that one of these two things would happen.

I think Hillary would be a very different president than Obama. I dislike her and think she is a crook and don't agree with most of her policies, but I think she will drift more moderate in the gen. election and as president. I also think she would be an effective president, in the sense that she would accomplish things. I think she can get things done and take care of business and has the cajones Obama lacks, I just know that I don't like her politics and would rather her not be president. Would much rather have her policies over Bernie's, however.

I guess I don't see Trump as a conservative either, so I still probably wouldn't vote for him. I also think he would have no idea how to govern a country and would leave the institution of the presidency in tatters. That's if he was elected. Even if he wasn't elected, he might shatter the Republican Party as a viable way of organizing people on the right. I mean, I'd personally be embarrassed to say that I voted for or supported his campaign in any way. So I'd almost rather a known commodity like Hillary be elected than Trump.

On the other hand, I think a pretty viable third party candidate (who would be the candidate of most people who normally vote Republican) would appear if it looked like Trump was getting the nomination. I'd probably vote for that person, even if it was Bloomberg.

All that said, Trump won't be getting he nomination.

So the country will falter in 4 years?

yea, im curious about this too @jimbob1019. what do you think is going to happen to america if/when hillary gets elected?
Our foreign policy sucks...the world is descending into chaos & our president thinks it's all good...PC as shvt & heaven forbid we offend anyone esp Muslims, Iran is given everything & they still taunt us, ISIS, North Korea's testing nukes, Russia is running shvt, etc....at home, thugs are celebrated while our president turns on cops, entitlement runs amuck, the White House is lit up in rainbow colors, should I go on

well yes, you didnt answer the question. i take that response to mean you think some sort of catastrophic attack will happen in america as a result of our poor foreign policy?

those are all things that you think are going on now. we are asking about the future.

If only we could return to the calm serenity of the period between 2001 and 2009 when a republican was last president. Those years were all sunshine and rainbows.

if you KYS you don't have to see the white house lit up in colors. just a thought. oh, and be my guest voting for someone other than Trump. if you do it's 100% Hillary is going to win

Here is a question I'd like answered, party affiliation aside, how long can this country continue down this road of runaway debt before too much is too much? I don't care if you say it's spent on wars or welfare, at what point is the point of no return? 25 trillion? 30 trillion? 100 trillion??? What is the end number?

If he wins, I'll vote for him. My thoughts are Cruz will win....which I said 2 months ago. You Libs that have love the Muslim and think the world of Socialism... I believe that change you voted for and spin into something you actually believe, good luck moving forward after the election. Might want to move with Whoopi and Rosie to Europe.

VP candidates for trump:
Ben Carson
Rubio
Kasich
Fiorina

In order of my preference

The biggest problem with both parties is that they think that if someone holds an opinion or viewpoint or position different from their own, then they are a bad or unintelligent person. "Liberal" and "Conservative," "Democrat" and "Republican" are thrown out as insults. People attack others for their beliefs instead of debating and listening to the other person to try and gain knowledge and insight into the other person's life like they should.

Really, this is in everything now-a-days. Everyone jumps to one extreme instead of weighing the good and bad of everything, and understanding that you can both be smart, and both be good people, even if you have different opinions on politics, religion and even college football.

I like Trump, for the record.

I think Rubio would be most likely to run with him.

There will have to be a tax increase and some entitlement cuts at some point. Both will happen and it is a matter of time. My guess is within 10 years a bipartisan commission will be tasked and an up or down vote given on their recommendations. The recommendations will be higher taxes and higher age limits and other criteria for Medicare and Medicaid. NO PARTY and I mean NO party will vote to strip Social Security and Medicare down and neither will they cut national defense. Those are the largest areas of the budget other than interest. All of the rest of the fed budget like Education, Interior, Justice, etc is small potatoes the Soc Sec, Medicare/Medicaid and Defense Spending.

IMO, Hillary gets indicted and unless the dems pull in Biden they're done, however if she somehow does snake her way out of it and into the nomination, congrats America because you just nominated a more corrupt poltician than El Presidente' Pena Nieto.

God Bless North America because the USA just became the first most corrupt country behind Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina and finally Mexico. ( tic of course )

Finally, someone who answered the question lol
I'm with you although I don't think Fiorina is a viable option given the problems her & Trump had early on...I believe Carson could actually help pull some of the minority &/or independent vote but I'm not sure to what degree...Rubio could potentially help unite the Republican party behind Trump though & Kasich may be the best candidate in the field (Repub or Dem) anyway...

I agree with what you say here. The ugliness of politics continues to drive the extremes. If this great country(at least once upon a time) is to survive, we need a strong, independent party. Whether people want to believe it or not, the majority of the people in this country are moderate, just a little to the right of center. We need an independent party with a candidate that espouses our beliefs and values. Such a person could be elected and could lead our country to where it needs to be.

Wrong. If Trump or Cruz gets the Repub nomination I am voting Democratic. Period. No argument.

You do realize that the defense budget has been cut in half since Obama has been in office right? Also more terrorist attacks on our home land as well, forge in and domestic.

I'm not going to argue with you on this because you have proven that you are a complete idiot when you made statements that SS is the same thing as Welfare.

I'm for whoever the Republican candidate is . This country cannot have a Democrat appoint the next maybe several Supreme Court justices who would act nd think like the last two Obama appointed . That happens and the country will truly be in the vision of the likes of Sanders , Obama , Reid , etc. Would not fit my world view .would rather Trump appoint than Bernie ,

I would not vote for Trump. Sorry but the "single payer" healthcare system he favors disqualifies him in my eyes. Don't think I'll have to worry about it as I will be shocked if he ends up as the Republican nominee.

I think by Republican he is maybe referring to conservatives. Pretty sure every conservative I know would vote for Trump/Cruz over the self proclaimed socialist or Clinton. It doesn't surprise me at all that today's Republicans would rather have a Democrat vs Cruz or Trump. That makes perfect sense as you look at today's political landscape.
