Kaepernick decides he's not going to stand for the national anthem.

There are more elections than Just the President. I don't vote for party. I vote for those that are known to support my beliefs. God, Country, Family.
I didn't ask what is your criteria for a candidate to earn your vote - I ask what are you implying with people vote according to an individuals race?

I was implying that some people vote for race only sometimes like you were implying that I was a die hard conservative. Is it that hard?

There are racist idiots in every race. I am proud to say that I was 100% raised to judge a man by his character and not the color of his skin. I respect others until I feel disrespected and those who do not stand for our flag disrespect me and piss me off. I will never watch that idiot play again.

How can you debunk a myth when it is fact? I am sure that Sen Byrd could show you how he oppressed people back in his Jim Crow days. Also voting for the same type of people that hasn't improved their community is ignorant.(Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago, etc.)

Lol. Yea the same country that elected a black president and then sent him more death threats than any other president.
Bullshit so says you...what do we need to do...give every black person a mansion and a yacht then ...then will you and the rest of the race card pushers be happy...freaking world is gone to hell

Yes, he has the right to be disrespectful if he chooses but his ignorant stance just causes more racial division. This country that he is protesting for all the "black oppression " is the same country that made him a multi-millionaire pampered athlete but all of a sudden it's about color. There are better ways to make a statement than disrespecting the military and those men and women who courageously died to give his punk ass the right to "sit it out" for the national anthem. I'm just sick of this type of " statement". If he doesn't like it, he can give up his millions and get the hell out. #TRUMP2016

How are people in the mother land of Africa doing right now? Same as they have for thousands of years. Some would argue that slavery is the best thing that has happened to African Americans. Let's be honest, how would all these "oppressed" people be doing if slavery never existed?

They would shit it away in 5 years or less. You could divide America's wealth up evenly to every citizen and within 5 years 80% of them would be in the same financial situation they were in before the redistribution. Fact.
Lazy people blame others and make excuses, successful people navigate obstacles and seize opportunities.

JFYI, @trich24 isnt saying that at all... He has valid points as do others on both sides in this thread. In the middle there is common ground. To think a Clemson Alumnus is lazy or looking for a hand out is ludicrous.

*Sigh* if your claim to be a volunteer and work in improverish black areas then you know education system is a great example of oppression. Kaepernick whether you or anyone agree or not with his approach is talking about systematic oppression.

By the way HBCU are around cause their historical in nature for one, HBCU provide an excellent education and are integrated but since you are in the hood you knew all ethnicity are welcome.
Eh, the broken homes and lack of role models within said broken homes do far more damage that any education systems. Studies show that kids from one parent homes struggle. That's not the systems fault, that's his/her parents fault. Mentors and positive male role models in these "oppressed" areas would solve a lot.

If the (N) word defines who and what you are....You are probably losing in life. Barack Obama should never let shit like that bother him Hes the President of The United States because of hard work and education. You will never meet an educated self made N-word, Red neck because they are the ones with their hands out bitching about life isnt fair. Dont ever be that Person because you dont have to be. God bless and Good luck and work your tail off.
I bet Barack Obama could care less if someone calls him the N word. He is the mother effing prez of the US. But the fact that people still DO call him the N word proves that racism still exists, no?

He would have th same right if he were a star soccer player for Iran or Russian Hockey Player.
What a total ignorant piece of crap. Disrespect rarely is succesful path to change or earning respect. Hopefully some defensive lineman will help him see rhe error in his thinking.

Sigh your view of African American communities is so small and narrow. You are pandering to the wrong guy.

I don't think that anyone on this board would claim that racism doesn't exist. But do you think that white people are the only ones guilty of being racist? For every white racist, there is an equal black one. Some blacks call white people derogatory names. What did Kaepernick not standing for the Star Spangled Banner do to improve racism? Not a thing. What he chose to do on a national stage did nothing but promote more division, no?

People certainly seem want the government out of our daily lives and then turn around and want the government to create rules that make people act a certain way..

No? From the multiple sports comment sections, social media and Tiger Illustrated the VAST MAJORITY OF White men seems like it is because we cant have a relevant discussion. Why he did it? (Protest systematic oppression). What he did? (Not at dam thing except his 1st Amendment right) but instead we discuss what he did and offer nothing new to solve the why.

Would I protest in this manner, no. I do
disagree with how he is protesting cause his point is loss in yelling over whether he should of stood or not. I do not disagree with his right to protest, or the fact there are very real things to talk about. Calling him unamerican is over the top idiotic to me when openly protesting our government is something that is extremely American. Saying he needs to leave the country or cant have an opinion is in fact the unamerican part of this.

Yes racism comes in all colors. He was protesting systematic oppression. He has been it all season and obviously to get your attention.

I'm one of those who is all about less government like you stated earlier. He absolutely had the right to not stand. He is free to protest anything he wants, I just disagree with the way he chose to do it. I can't see anything good coming out of it for him....

If you read my post you would have comprehended that. Since you did not youre just another dumb arse who is a victim. Whether you like it or not you have every opportunity a white, Asian or Hispanic in this country but you harp on the simple crap like the PC vocabulary. Enjoy your hate pal

That is a fair argument and point if Kaepernick is even the right messenger.

Apparently he is the right messenger according to my AA social media friends who have ZERO idea of his background.

Give it up for white america who predominantly pay these athlete's salaries. Give it up to 99% of these athletes who complain who do NOTHING for their own culture even though they earn MILLIONS of dollars but are the first to create some sort of uproar - this includes those in the music business as well. They don't even want to contribute financially toward the cause - shows where their heart really is.

BUT, they'll do "minor" things like sit for the anthem or use nationally televised shows to show and state their displeasure all the while benefiting from this so called injustice and oppression.

Give me a break.

I said earlier that his method was stupid, yes. You are correct, it does promote division. But dont even try to say that blacks and whites are in the same boat in regards to race relations. That's just absurd.

Is it racist that blacks and whites call him the n word? Or just when white people do?

Black people dont say it in a derogatory way. Stupid that they say it at all - dont get me wrong, blacks calling other blacks the N word is effing stupid - but they aren't trying to denigrate him. Almost as bad as our fans using the C word o_O

We live in a country now that if you want to make something of yourself... You can. There are plenty people of every race that do. If you want to sit on your ass and not do that or vote for a system that encourages that then shame on you.

Damn right

Obviously in your world achieving financial status makes you invalidate to speak on social injustice. You are absolutely correct in your assessment that the vast majority of White men see this as UnAmerican while African Americans see, know and understand the situation. So you keep your concern about what Tiger scores a TD, makes a shot or places at the NCAA during their 3/4 years.

Give me break on your racial ignorance and stupidity

What did I say in my post that gave you the impression that I feel like a victim? I gave my reasoning as to why I thought racisim exists today, and you told me to "keep feeling like a victim." I never have been the victim of racism, as I am white. Never have felt like a victim of anything a day in my life. Have you ever been on the receiving end of racism?

What educational thing? That blacks tend to have less education, or are you referring to education of race in our society?
Bro please comprehend the content of my post isnt about race its about character. My white family(father) has issues with my train of thought thinking im on the black side when explaining the same issues. The more education the less insecurity you will live with. You have to get this race shit out of your bony brain its the character that defines a human not race. Stop being a fvking racist

21 years ago a black man got a job in which I was more qualified and I was disapointed. The guy and I became really good friends make a long story short he felt really bad but I told him that the decision wasnt ours and I would help him be the best supervisor possible. Thats the way I live my life nothing is fair my friend you keep rolling with limited Drama as possible. Today im 44 yo attending Clemson University finishing my dream.

Not sure how I am a racist here, but since you said less education means more insecurity, I guess that explains your inferior position. Maybe by the time you finish your degree, you will open your eyes. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the luck it really tough. My point being judge people by character not by race

I never have judged someone by race. But to ignore the fact that blacks are dealt a different deck of cards than whites is shortsighted at best.
They are given the same opportunity as anyone else. Any black person can achieve what I have in my career and go back to school to achieve an education in their 40's if they want it. There is no law or rule that says black folks and minorities arent allowed to make big money or higher education.....

. Really? You missed my point entirely.

Colin thinks he did something so brave and so daunting and took some sort of "stand" for this so called "oppression". Give me a break. Put your $, time and effort to actually do something. Instead, he is so ignorant and stupid (along with those who fail to see how this actually isn't the RIGHT way to do it) that he actually alienates those real heroes who have sacrificed and given their lives for HIS and EVERY AAs freedom. The right for him to earn 100+ M in this "terrible" country. Financial status does not invalidate you to speak, it just makes you look stupid when The loudest statement you make is you sitting on your ass instead of paying respect to those who fought for your freedom. If you think that's some sort of brave action, then you're the ignorant one.

Sad that even our minority "leaders" don't contribute or participate in changing this "oppression" other than actually sitting down to make some sort of statement or by creating tshirts for people to wear. Sad that you think what Colin did was some sort of stand for injustice.

I'm a minority and it sickens me to see people do these things considering what this country has afforded me the ability to do and become. I'm grateful but also have perspective that people aren't perfect and I'm going to encounter some ignorance. I know how to move on from it though and not allow these folks to keep me down - I'm responsible for my actions and how I respond.

This country provides opportunity - Colin himself should be grateful after his own blood left him and a white American family took him in regardless of his skin color and helped him get to where he's at now - A multi millionaire. And yet his choice of action is no action at all - sitting on his ass.
