OT: Jobs

meh. Again, 40% of. Americans can’t handle a $400 unexpected expense without going into debt. I know you would like to think that all of those people “made bad choices”. But many of them work and work hard, long hours. It’s just that they are not compensated enough to match the cost of living.

There is still some merit on social programs to help the poor.

If you’re an adult and can’t cover a $400 expense without going into debt, you’ve made a lot of bad choices.

I expect that you have a very limited view of life experience. It might be successful, but it's not exactly fitting a large portion of America's bell curve.

Truth Bombs up in here y'all. Supported by the trends, no denying it. Socialism does NOT work. The data points that are measured are eye opening. My favorite part is the actual metric of Govt Jobs. And those that have them. Ask yourself how many of your friends that actually WORK in govt come home, drink a cold one and talk about productivity, ROI cost savings and profit yields. I have none. Read this again after getting rustled and report back to me. I'm not talking FBI types, it's the Upper Florida Rare Mollusk Monitoring Department with an annual budget of 10 Mil. Or the Fully Funded Cal Berkley Grant of Research on The Mating Habits of Pet Ferrets Under Duress.

I have a lot of friends with non-government jobs who don’t work hard at all. I’m not talking the white collar or hard-working blue collar type, I’m talking the ones who just don’t work hard. Not nearly as hard as a government employee.

I believe America is easily the greatest country in the world and our government is part of that. Not talking Trump or the polarizing times we’re in now but the overall frustration of the parties and government stagnation is one reason democracy works so well. We don’t change too quickly like liberals want and we don’t just stay the same like conservatives want. We keep moving (slowly) but if we do make a mistake, we have time to fix it.

Then I Guess you haven't been to the DMV lately. Not a whole lotta hard work going on there. In fact I would bet maybe 5% of the govt 'workforce' actually 'works' hard. That would be military, covert defense, defense in general.

When an individual becomes a govt employee, all expectations of productivity are thrown out. Guess what, all you have to do is show up, barley move any needle, clock out, rinse, repeat. Because there is NO ACCOUNTABILITY. They spend money they don't have and unfortunately most of this money is tied to retirement funds of govt employees (majority) who couldn't cut it in the private sector. So we as tax payers get to fund retirements of people who still have contributed a Net Zero to Society. They are the laziest people on the planet. Just go check out the state of Illinois if you don't believe me. They are bankrupt because of all the bleeding heart liberal govt jobs that have now matured to retirement and those indiots can't pay for it. Which is why they just legalized recreational weed. DOAH. I will fully participate in this windfall of tax cash about to upgrade some Chicago Section 8 Housing. Good Times y'all.

I live in Northern VA. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

Edit: there’s more accountability than any job you could imagine.

Accountability? Hell no man. There is no freaking way there should be that much cash being poured into Fed Govt, their employees and their Beverly Hillls tax base. I know a lot of what I'm talking about. You on the other hand have obviously missed the boat here. Yes, I'm very familiar with Northern VA. The highest taxed metroplex base in the US because of govt and their subcontractors particularly in the Military Industrial Complex.

Lots of accountability. Need to make sure that the fasteners on that construction project PO read $1342.56 per 6 inch bolt. Lots and loooooooots of tax dollars wasted, bubs. NVA and it's burbs are nothing but high end govt welfare. Get on outtah here with that shvt dude. You liberal govt types are smoking DC Mayor Grade crack.

GTFO with this Northern Virginia elitist Madam Secretary BS. If In fact you do you live there I wonder what your property taxes are. I'll bet Higher than SoCal. I've lived in both, Chief. The whole DC area, the inequalities, the crime, The Redskins sucking balls. Lots of reasons. All to support elitist Pelosi and King Chuck types. There is a Nope Box, and Santa is bringing it to you with that next tax bill. Unless of course you are a renter and can't afford that 950k mortgage on 900ft.

DC.....sorry folks it ain't cutting it for me

i just read this again. You really are believing this nonsense. Govt is there for us, always looking out for us. Do you really believe that? The only part about looking out for us is career politicians on all sides milking the system for personal gain. We know better than you, you do what we say. Fvck That. If you want to support a team of losers like like the Govt, then go to Canada and be a Wild Wrangler or whatever they call themselves in CFL. Oil Spillers or Salmon Catchers or something like that. And they have high taxes too. Because socialism light works in Canada.

I feel bad that you don’t appreciate people who have devoted their lives and/or careers to protect our freedoms. I’m okay with paying higher taxes because our housing market is pretty recession proof and grows very steadily. We have the 2 highest income counties in the US so paying higher taxes makes sense. We have twice as many PHDs as LA with half as many people. There is a very high supply of skilled labor in this area..probably the most anywhere. I’m very proud of where I live and I think the government gets the cream of the crop in a lot of situations. The smartest, best engineers/etc. want to work for the most well-funded programs so they can make the most money. Sorry if you didn’t make the cut.

There are people working as we speak to protect your freedoms from our enemies and you slap these people in the face. That’s disgraceful. If you think there’s a problem, why don’t you do something about it instead of complaining about OUR government? I guess you have to pick a side and I’m okay with being on the side of the US intel community, CIA, FBI, different military branches, etc. if we can’t trust these people, who can we trust? I’ll take up for the people protecting our country and citizens forever. I sure don’t want a government overthrow and for my safety to depend on someone like you.

“DC people ain’t cutting it for me” while you live in the safest country in the world enjoying the fruits of our country’s labor. Smh. You sound entitled.
