OT- LINDSEY GRAHAM!!! WOW

I saw you called me the sorriest idiot on the board earlier today. I have ignored insult after insult from you. You're just ignorant. Too stupid for me to waste my time replying.

When Democrats call you an idiot or ignorant, it is a compliment. That means you disagree with people who convict other people before any evidence is known.

She says as she replies.

Every single one of your posts is some obnoxious right-wing political crap. You are constantly on here begging for attention. You are constantly begging for affirmation. You are consistently pointed out to be horribly wrong on an impressive variety of topics, yet I’m the idiot? I’m the ignorant one?

You need to take a long look in the mirror and think about the kind of person you have allowed yourself to become. I have never met you, but you have either always been this awful of a person, or your primitive behavior has now been encouraged by Our president who is devolving society.

You are a cancer to this board and country. I will be generous and say you have contributed to this board maybe twice. The rest has been just useless garbage. The only people who agree with you are other far right wingers or white knighters because you claim to be female. You have never engaged in a thoughtful discussion on this forum and you have never provided anything of substance.

If you are a troll, which I have strongly suspected since day one, I applaud you.

If you are who you say you are, I legitimately feel sorry for you and I will pray for you.

Let me get this straight. It is a disgrace to investigate serious allegations against a potential appointee to the highest court in the land?

It is their DUTY to investigate. Not doing so would be a disgraceful sham. But that's ok if it's your "team", right?

A man who has been vetted by the FBI on 6 different occasions and who sat on what is often referred to as the second highest court in the land?? These accusations are so obviously fabricated that any thinking educated adult would recognize them for what they are, a delay tactic.

It would not be right to bypass an investigation into these allegations by either "team" if this were someone who had not been through the vetting process already, but let me repeat; Kavanaugh has been through the FBI's most thorough background checks on SIX different occasions AND has served honorably on the bench for YEARS. The American people know what they are getting here. It's just that some people are willing to destroy other people to serve a political agenda. (And to your attempt at a point, no one personally attacked Merrick Garland nor brought obvious false accusations up against him.) This is the worst of political gamesmanship and is a stain on those who have participated in it. I'm sorry if you can't recognize it for what it is.

Never been a huge fan of his BUT he went the HELL off!!!!!!!!!!

Was damn proud of Lindsey today.

No matter which side of this shitshow you fall on - this is the biggest sham I have ever seen. It is a national embarrassment.

This whole thing is a disgrace. Our nation is not better off for this. No one is. I cannot believe we have a blowup of his yearbook comments. How small is that? There is a moron Senator asking about "ralphing." Really?

Their goal is to smear him, show he's had a drinking problem and that he did this when he was so drunk that he blacked out. They want to discredit Judge as a addict who can't be trusted and that's their plan.

This whole process has been disgraceful.

I think it’s imperative to realize there is a difference between liberals and progressives.

Liberals are not disgusting pieces of trash. Progressives are. Progressives are responsible for this circus you see. The sad thing is too many liberals are being forced to choose sides and they are siding incorrectly with progressives.

It's politicians, pandering to the extremes of their base. I doubt many of them believe half the shit they call for.

Hell - I doubt half of them UNDERSTAND the shit they call for. They've been in their echo chambers too long.

This kind of thing is part of exactly what got Trump elected. People were tired of business as usual politics. They wanted something new and were willing to risk it. The rest was that people hated Hillary, and Trump outworked Hillary.

I’m not a Trump fan. I see both parties for what they are...trash. But it’s sad when a decent human is presumed guilty by a bunch of immoral senators. I find the process to be disgusting and embarrassing. I do like the way everyone in your book agrees with your opinion or they like Trump.

The thing about Kavenaugh is he seems to be a constitutional judge. His opinion isn't what matters - it's the law. That is what the Supreme Court is supposed to do.

Well Kavanaugh definitely made himself seem non-partisan yesterday.

If kavanaugh is not elected to the SC and instead someone who thinks with a modern ideology for modern problems, then the whole world is better off.

If Kavanaugh is not put on the SC I hope trump goes as far right as he possibly can

How so? I didn't watch it. I was at work.

That said - after the way the left has attacked him I would not be surprised if they are driving him towards the right.

Brett Kavanaugh said:
This whole two-week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit fueled with apparent pent-up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election, fear that has been unfairly stoked about my judicial record, revenge on behalf of the Clintons and millions of dollars in money from outside, left-wing opposition groups.

You can agree with the idea that this is another vast conspiracy if you want. However, this sort of language does not suggest (to me at least) that this is a SCOTUS nomination who isn't partisan and holds themselves above the fray.

For the record, I think the SCOTUS has been political for a while but the current justices (including Gorsuch) at least managed to fake not being partisan. I think that having Kavanaugh on the court will really damage its reputation. If I had to guess, I'd think the only sitting Justice who wants him on the court is Thomas. The other conservatives would probably much rather have another generic Republican without the partisan and attempted rape baggage.

It's been obvious for a while that this whole thing is about not getting Trump another SC pick rather than Kavenaugh himself. Is that "revenge on behalf of the Clinton's"? I dunno, but it's because the dems lost and can't handle it. I'm pretty confident in that.

Honestly - since I don't much give a shit anymore and for pure entertainment value - if Kavenaugh isn't confirmed I hope they find someone who is even more "on the right" than he is supposedly. And if that one isn't confirmed, go even further right. And so on.

Look, the majority of Democrats absolutely don't want Trump to get another SCOTUS appointment. Their reasons for this are logical. They (and I) also feel like an appointment was stolen from them. However, this guy still seems like a creep with a temper and a very casual relationship with the truth. While most Democrats would have voted no against any Trump nominee, there are people he could have nominated who would have made it through with some Democratic votes. I think Hardeman (spelling?) would have made it with no problem.

I have no confidence this wouldn't transpire again. This is about filling a seat of a swing vote as people like to call it. I find the whole thing disgusting. The political leanings of a judge shouldn't matter if they follow the Constitution. We have lost sight of that.

Well John Roberts would disagree with the idea that the court can appear partisan, but he's only the Chief Justice and everything.

Also, I can appreciate where you're coming fro on "following the Constitution" but it's worth being honest about the fact that there are several philosophies for how to interpret the Constitution and most Justices adhere to their philosophies most of the time. What I think you guys mean when you talk about "Justice's who respect the Constitution" is "Justice's who value the things in the Constitution that I do and don't care as much about the things that I don't care as much about." The fact that there is a philosophy called "Originalism" or "Textualism" that is sometimes applicable to Conservative decisions is just convenient.

And I know you are a very educated and informed person about all this. I just disagree with you and I am sure neither of us will gain ground on the other. I believe there is only one way to read the Constitution. It is as what it says. We have a process in place to right the wrongs that come from our laws and founding principles. We should use it. The great thing about that process is it forces us together and we have to actually cooperate and compromise to get things done. It's important for the health of our nation. Instead, we continuously do things via majority rule and we force things on our citizens against he will of at least half of them in most cases. That isn't how you run a nation.

Not smart on his part. By referring to a victim of sexual assault as a political pawn, he lost a lot of female voters.

She is. Whether or not it really happened, the only reason anyone on the left cared is because it will help THEIR side win.

Maybe, maybe not. Most women I know in SC agree with him.

I doubt he'll get hurt by that. Might get an upswing in votes even. Lots of his constituents have been waiting for him to start hammering the dems.

Agree 100% on Kavanaugh.

amynhop is one of the people you can disagree with on this board but still have an actual conversation with over a tough issue. At least this is true most of the time. I know she does troll sometimes, but overall I think both of you contribute something to the conversation. (outside of this exchange)
