OT: Looks like my kids are going to private school

Was having this conversation this morning. Basically, I went to a very good public school but there is simply no way on earth I am sending my kids to public schools. And it isn't just the transgender thing. That is definitely the nail in the coffin for public school for me, but there are countless other issues that are becoming "ok" in order to not offend anyone in public schools. It isn't ok and it is disturbing. I will not expose children to that.

Private school applications and the amount of home schooled kids are about to soar. People are going to hit a threshold eventually and start pushing back on all this liberal BS.

I really think I do hate Obama..

Court shot down yesterday his just by-passing Congress, you know the branch of the Federal Govt that actually makes the laws, on giving payments to insurance companies to cover their losses by being forced to offer insurance to those they didn't want to offer. Feds will appeal, but they should lose on matters of law. Im sure it will go all the way to Supreme Court in the near future.

For me, it is not necessarily his policies - most of which I don't agree with - but his blatant disregard for the way this nation's government was founded.

From his handling of immigration issues, some of the health insurance stuff, and some of the "social" policies - he just doesn't have the authority to institue his wishes. He lost in court on the immigration decree; he lost on the insurance company bailout; one can only hope he gets sued on this and the administration loses again. (not for the actual policy - but for the fact he is by-passing the arm of government who is charged with making the laws of the land)

There are laws and procedures even the President of the US has to follow. He and his administration just don't seem to grasp that.

So many other pressing issues to worry about, and this is what they focus on? MLK would be rolling over in his grave to hear Loretta Lynch comparing this to the civil rights struggle of his day. They are not even in the same galaxy.
Are you really going to put your kids in a private school over restrooms? once transgender (all 11 of them) become a protected class I don't think it will matter where you send them .... Better check into home schooling

When the people in charge of them refuse to acknowledge basic biology and logic, its not really a place I want them to learn from anyways.

People on the internet are very clever and funny

It's up to parents to instill the virtues in their kids that they feel they should have. If you feel that your parenting will be overruled by the influences of outside situations, you may as well keep the kids locked in a closet forever.

All of these "executive orders" reinforces my strong belief in states rights versus federal.
Thomas Jefferson is rolling in his graves again. Not a huge Trump fan but I do like his numerous comments about "let the states decide". He mentioned this a few weeks ago regarding the North Carolina bill. Obama can't leave soon enough.

My issue here is with the timing and age of so many of these decisions. Maybe I'm some ignorant out-of-touch traditionalist, but I simply fail to believe that middle school kid know that they're transgender. I was barely past the "boys have a penis, girls have a vagina" stage when I got to middle school. For it to have even crossed my mind about how I would "identify" gender-wise is just beyond my comprehension.

Everyone feels weird and confused in those days. For us to allow kids who can't even go to certain movies without their parents to make decisions about their physical DNA is something I'm definitely not ok with. There was an article recently about a Supreme Court in British Columbia that forced a father to start acknowledging and treating his ELEVEN year-old daughter as a boy, because that's how she identifies. That's just unmitigated bullshit.

If you're Bruce Genner or whatever he calls himself nowadays and want to be something else as a grown man, whatever. Letting kids who we don't even let do menial tasks like go to certain movies or drive cars alter their physical and hormonal makeup is just not ok to me.

Did people just start paying attention to what president's do and have always done with their powers? I hear people criticizing the vacations this guy takes and other things that are completely in line with past presidents. This country's decline is not sure to this president and didn't just start happening in the last 8 yrs.

People think race relations are wise because of Obama. Race relations are worse because of technology. If there wasn't video everywhere people claiming different things would've just went on with no one believing them. Technology had empowered those folks and given them a voice and given those who had no idea an eye into what happens in certain communities when no one is looking. Stop trying to blame or reserve your hate for one person when the system is broken as has been. Look at your congressman and senators. They sold this country out and have been for at least the last 30yrs that I've been paying attention. Slow and sure decline. But if it makes you feel better @tigertommy1 I get it.

A pipe dream now.

Feds sue NC over the bathroom issue, threatening to take away funding. Yet.....they allow sanctuary cities to flaunt immigration laws without repercussion. Staggering.

Willing to bet transsexuals have been using their preferred bathroom for years. We just never notice.
And thats the thing, nobody made a big deal about it. It wasn't until Charlotte came out with their ordinance, or Seattle, or now Obama's edict, that the problem arose. When they just issue blanket statements with no basis in reason/logic/or fact, thats when the problem arises.

People voted for change and got it. Just goes to show this nation is overrun with lazy, entitled, dumb people who only want handouts from the Govt. this group of people control the electoral vote now in this country.

Obama is above any laws, don't you know that by now?

Kids are in school around the same amount of time that they spend with their parents. They spend 6-8 hours every day being influenced, exposed to those schools characteristics, and people in the school. Most working parents see their children, especially HS kids who are striving for independence, far less than the walls of their school.

Kids in grade school are young and easy to influence. For lack of a better term, they are smart but they are all stupid at the same time. They have not fully developed their bodies or minds and are more likely to do reckless or irresponsible things.

If the school they attend instills the same values that you approve of at home they have a far greater chance to also pick up those values as they develop and move forward in life. If you want your kid to be in an environment where the teachers/principals have no real authority over disruptive students, god(or the values that come with god if you are not a religious person) completely removed, boys in the girls locker room, protests/petitions over dumb stuff then by all means send them to public school. I went to public school and none of this stuff was around then. It was a good experience and a good school for me at the time. Times change. I would rather my kid focus on learning Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, History, Literature, Econ, etc without social policy distractions or debates over whether or not someone can defy basic human anatomy by claiming they are male or female when they are clearly not.

Private or home school is the way of the future.

Look - I made it clear, or so I thought, that it wasn't about the type of policy being implemented, but the executive decisions that by-pass Congress. Feel the same way if a Republican, or whomever, was making the decisions. Presidents don't get to make policy.(edit to say that should read that "Presidents don't get to make laws")

We have this thing called The Constitution. You know......separation of powers and everything.

I don't have a link, you can use Google yourself, but the chief psychiatrist at Johns Hopkins University was quoted as saying there is no such thing as "transgender", there is no such thing as a female being born in a males body or vice versa. There is however a self gender misidentification disorder, I forget the name for it, and he strongly opposes any surgical options to help people with this mental disorder. Physically altering your body to more closely match your malfunctioning brain causes more problems than it solves, and leads to a very high rate of suicide.

The doctor basically said that thinking you were born the wrong sex is a mental disorder like schizophrenia or any other. These people need help, they don't need ignorant and uneducated enablers to tell them that they're OK, nothing's wrong with them, and we can fix the mistake that God made.

A friend of mine posed a great question on facebook:

"When a biological male self-identifies as a female, the politically correct stance is to be fully supportive of that individual as they undergo surgeries, hormone therapy and take other steps in an attempt to convert themselves into the opposite sex. But when someone with anorexia nervosa self-identifies as being overweight when they are not, the politically correct stance is to determine that they have a disorder and then do whatever we can to help them so that they will correctly self-identify.

Why the difference?"
