OT: Mass shooting in El Paso

He looks like ANTIFA

The FBI Special Gun Control Unit is working the case. They will release the name of the shooter as soon as they finish scrubbing his social media accounts.

The only reason anyone would do this is to create more momentum for gun control.

Who scrambled your prefrontal cortex?

A lot of people are saying that now. Every time we have a mass shooting, there are immediate calls for gun control. At some point, you have to consider that this might be the reason.

My God what the hell is going on in this country? Multiple fatalities. Lives changed forever. Absolutely senseless.

My thoughts, prayers and heart go out to the victims and their families. Just disgusting beyond any words...

Apparently you can't ask this question because we are supposed to have this discussion later. Don't talk about the fact that we have 122 guns per 100 people in this country (and the next closest country IN THE WORLD is Yemen at 52). Don't talk about the Governor of TX encouraging more purchases of firearms. Don't talk about the lack of resources going to mental health services in this country. etc etc.

As I've said before on this board, if liberals want to band together to change the constitution then we can have a discussion about gun control but there shouldn't be any reason not to pass common sense gun safety measures (other than the gun manufacturer and seller lobby). It shouldn't be scarier for folks to have background checks, trigger locks, training, a separation of ammo and guns in homes, and other measures that almost every country in the world has in place. And before you go squawking about freedom--it is just like having seatbelts and then having annoying beeps if you don't put on your seatbelt or making roads safer. We can have guns in society, but that should come with added responsibility.

(also wouldn't hurt if we had morality in our leadership in govt...it wouldn't hurt if we had rhetoric that wasn't about violence--but that my be too PC)

This is the most embarrassing thing I have ever read on this site. And I have spent a bunch of time in the Round Table.

I think they’re doing it to create support for less gun control since every time this happens the “good guy with a gun” argument gains a lot of momentum.

That's not true at all. You still need to work on your OL evaluations.

And there it is. Blames gun ownership.

It's funny how easy it is for people to label terrorist organizations like Al queda and ISIS and get behind attacking them, but we literally have a radicalized group of people that have many similarities in our own country that we refuse to come to grips with.

I’m willing to bet the shooter had no/bad/absent parents.

The root of this issue should be at the forefront.

Very sad day.
It’s wrong imo to always blame the parents when a kid turns out bad. Many things come into play with things like this. Yes there are certainly plenty of times the parents absense or upbringing can factor in but genetics, addiction, mental health can all be factors. There are plenty of good families dealing with a situation without needing to hear everything is all their fault.

They just busted a compound that was training kids to shoot up schools not too long ago.

As I've done every time there is a mass shooting. But if you read the post with any semblance of critical thinking or reading comprehension then you would find a metered argument.

Try it.

But you won't, so carry on in your ignorance...

Stephen Paddock spends 100 grand on over the counter AR-15s. If all he wanted to do was kill people, why didn't he use a machine gun that shoots 7.62x55 rounds?

BS. I read your post. Nothing but a thinly veiled call for more gun control.

Make a point. Ad hominem is conceding victory.

The effect is immediate following one of these events. It galvanizes the left against the right. This could be communist or perhaps ANTIFA. This is rational thought. Not crazy to think this anymore. Cause and effect.

Separation of guns and ammo in t he home?? I guess you are ok with unannounced police inspections of your home then too...because that is what you would need to enforce that.

But maybe you are ok with that. Why stop there... why not allow the police to stop you at any time and search you, or your vehicle and make you show your government issued papers that permit you to move about the country?

Besides.. "trigger locks" and separating guns and ammo won't stop mass shootings by crazies or crimminals.

Before the clammer for "common sense" gun safety laws... how about clamoring for "common sense" immigration , border security, and voter ID laws... These would do far more for the safety of American citizens than more gun laws that only punish the law abiding.
