It's a hoax, and it's no worse than the flu according to you idiots. So, why is it "incredible work" for Trump to give Pffizer $1.95 billion to develop the vaccine. A vaccine that is going to cost billions to ship because it must be kept at -90 degrees F and requires two doses minimum. Trump spent all that money for something that just needed Tamiflu? Help me understand that if the virus is not a big deal, why spend so much money.
It was politicized...but I never said it wasn't real you idiot...I've told you numerous times that I had it back in June & I didn't feel well..I've also said I could see how it might be tough the elderly or those with breathing issues. But at the same time I told I would much rather have Covid than the flu any day of the week ...but that's just my experience...
I won't take the vaccine...at least, not in the beginning bc I'm a skeptic that way....but I'm happy Trump led the way with a vaccine for those who wanted it, & those that will safer with a vaccine prevalent...

fauci has said pretty consistently that he expects a vaccine by end of year and widespread distribution by mid next year. You don’t have to be a Rhodes scholar to know that is going to take some time to develop close to a billion doses of vaccine.
as for Pfizer, they do seem to be pretty anti Trump. We don’t know if they delayed the announcement or if they waited until they could make it. It was interesting that they made a point to come out and forcefully say that their vaccine had nothing to do with operation warp speed, thus neutering trump from his signature “take credit from other people’s work” move. this is a free country, so they are allowed to express their opinions freely no?

Yep, apologies....I mixed up his comments on returning to normal with having a vaccine, my mistake (imagine that, admitting when you made a mistake) . Either way, for him to insinuate that he wasn't aware of their progress today seems bogus. No way the Govt pre-commits $1.9b without getting any status reports or updates.
Also, commitment of $1.9b of govt money is basically R&D money. Commitment of spend for a non-existent product is essentially the same thing. I'd love for one of my clients to guarantee me revenue for a product I may be able to build in the future. Mitigates my capital risk and justifies the R&D. For Pfizer to distance themselves from accepting government funding is technically accurate, it's dishonest at the same time.

honestly, so what if it is politically motivated? Republicans have supported corporations being treated as people and they welcome large corporate contributions (as do the dems). Pfizer is no different than the majority of Americans who CLEARLY prefer Biden to Trump. They are not beholden to trump, this a free country and a democracy.

Well, then I don't understand. This is a for profit company that's looking to make a buck. If their announcement was random then it's no big deal right ... it's just random. If they decided that it's in their best interest to screw over President Trump to make more money, then I don't see the problem either... Isn't that capitalism at work? What are we even talkng about? It's not personal ... just business. Trump's done that to people and companies all his life.
I mean let's look at it from a purely business standpoint. If they announce before the election, then they share credit with Trump... there may be a possibility of helping Trump in the election, but that doesn't ensure a Trump win. If they wait until after the election however, they make whoever won look good and they have that guy for 4 more years no matter who won. Easy choice. A BUSINESS choice.

It's all good. Personally, I don't think that most big business gives a crap who's President as long as it works out well for said business. They get their work done at the legislative level both nationally and state.
I've always thought Business Ethics was something of an oxymoron. Now this certainly doesn't apply to small/medium size businesses. I've many friends that that own or have owned a small business and it's been my experience that they hurt themselves pretty regularly by doing the right thing. Business is about making money when you get down to it. Ethics is about doing the right thing. Sometimes those two things can go together, sometimes they don't.
But Pfizer will NEVER admit that they did it on purpose (if they actually did). Again, there's no upside in doing that. Why piss off Donald Trump any more than you have to? Not to mention annoying the Republicans and about half the country. Nope... no upside at all.
This is where I start to draw a line between ethics and capitalism.....
