Seriously, how can anyone support this?

And you also can’t say things the government doesn’t like. You also can’t be in the vicinity of others who are being picked up, you also just really shouldn’t look like someone that might be here illegally. Wrong place, wrong time, wrong look? Sorry, its a concentration camp in El Salvador for you even if we admit it was a mistake.
No way. I would never agree with that. That’s crazy. Those people that have been identified and still treated that way have a serious grievance, that is awful.

….that’s what this whole thread is about. What are you even arguing about in here? Lol

Epic exaggeration verging on outright deception attempt. We are educated informed free Americans though and will not fall for this crap.

If what he is doing is unconstitutional then you know the courts will stop it. Probably a scotus decision.
Kind of like how scotus ruled they need to return the man they mistakenly sent to el salvador that they are now refusing to return and that you just posted a twitter link trying to justify that? I’m guessing 2 seconds after any scotus ruling that goes against the Trump regime you’ll be on here with 8,000 twitter links about how corrupt scotus is

I’m not sure what thread you think you’re in but this thread is specifically about one of the people who was here legally, has been here legally, has no criminal record, yet has been arrested solely because of speech. If your answer to the issues you bring up is that legal residents and US citizens have to lose their right to due process and freedom of speech, then that’s not something I can go along with.

If we are going to get into the topic of what we need to do to protect Americans, many many more Americans are killed daily by gun violence than they are by illegal immigrants. Is your stance on gun regulation the same as your stance or border regulation?
Good grief, you people are clueless.

He will be returned to another country. He has no right being here and is a threat to our country like many that Biden let in. Why you defend this guy is problematic. Do you care about the safety of American citizens? Obviously you don't.

So the left has idolized a ms-13 member?

George Floyd, Mangione, and now this guy?

Wtf is wrong with the left? Dude punched his wife? Known / proven ms-13 gang member? Gtfo

Jesus Christmas yall pick some bad ones

Not one person cares if this human filth goes to El Salvador.

It’s just the opposite of Trump.

That’s all they know. They don’t care about what’s good for America, they are just brainwashed by msnbc to be against any step Trump takes

Another 5-95 issue that democrats fall on and they can’t figure out why their popularity is at an all time low.

Growls--it's been a long time since law school for me (and I'm admittedly an M&A lawyer, not a constitutional lawyer), but the fact that all persons within the US are entitled to due process is not something that's open to interpretation.
Why I gave up. He can have it.

Which are those? I will agree that due process under various immigration statutes can mean a hearing in front of administrative judges, but I'm not aware of any authority within the confines of the Constitution that let us deport folks without representation other than (arguably) the act that we used to round up the Japanese-Americans during WWII (which I believe the current administration is relying on now),

Again, not a constitutional lawyer, so happy to learn something here.
Expedited removal process, passed in 1996.

Expedited removal is a process allowing immigration officers to quickly deport certain noncitizens without a hearing before an immigration judge. It applies to individuals who enter the United States without proper documentation or through fraud, and those who have been in the US for less than two years.

Key aspects of expedited removal:
  • Speed:
Expedited removal is designed to be a rapid process, allowing for swift deportation without a standard hearing or legal representation.

    • Targeted Groups:
It primarily applies to individuals who arrive at ports of entry without proper documents or who entered without inspection, and those who have been in the country for less than two years.
    • Limited Appeals:
Individuals in expedited removal proceedings generally have limited opportunities to appeal the decision or present their case to a judge.
    • Asylum Claim:
Individuals may still have an opportunity to claim asylum and be granted a hearing if they demonstrate a credible fear of persecution or torture in their home country.
    • Potential Expansion:
In recent years, there have been efforts to expand the scope of expedited removal, potentially affecting more individuals within the United States.
    • Consequences:
Expedited removal can result in a bar on re-entry for a specific period, which may vary depending on the circumstances

Did he not get due process?

A democrat senator flew to El Salvador to meet with a gang member but wouldn’t meet with an American mom whose child was murdered by an illegal alien. Hell I don’t think they even acknowledge them. That is the democrat party.

Yeah. Part of me wants to help them and point out their stupidity and hypocrisy. America needs two strong parties to compete to serve the American people. So I wish they would cut it out.

Democrats just want to serve the criminals.

George Floyd. Luigi Mangone. Abruego Garcia.

Those are the hills they are dying on. Literally 😂😂

I came onto this board thinking there may be some good debate and discussion. It’s literally just Trump bad, republicans bad. If you disagree with literally anything, you’re a Maga/trumper. Posters getting worked up over laws that have been a part of our nation for decades. It’s so weird.

To your point, the juxtaposition of the treatment, coverage and reaction of George Floyd vs the Austin Metcalf murder is sickening. Minneapolis burned to the ground over a drug addled overdose. Metcalfs murderer got a new house and released from prison. How is that even defensible? How is that not divisive?

The whole internet is about deciphering good information from bad. Shit, I suppose life is like that too.

But we get to choose how we use Social Media. You don’t have to use it in any one particular way

But I choose to put my honest thoughts out there curtailed by nothing. Most know who I am in real life, and I know who none of yall are.

I’ve chosen to put my thoughts out there and try to have genuine discussion. But I’m old enough to know there are trolls out there. And I’m smart enough to know when someone is trolling or not.

So now, I just block the people who troll.

Like the dude yesterday who told me I don’t know anything about macro economics despite posting thoughts on it here for years. He was a troll, and now I blocked him. He was not discussing in good faith, and if he was he just didn’t have the brains to make a good argument. @ClemsonCO14

I’d rather have an honest discussion with people. It makes for a better place.

@yoshi121374 @dpic73 @UrHuckleberry and a few others will give honest discussions even if you vehemently disagree with them. Yea they troll occasionally, but if you ask them for honest feedback they will usually give it to you.

Long story short, make social media work for you. Block the morons like okclem and his alt handles.

Not the whole world, but every person within the jurisdiction of the United States, yes.

It is the 5th amendment. It doesn't say no citizen, it says no one. The 14th added state gov'ts.

What is to stop any government official from deporting a political opponent to another country? Giving someone the opportunity to defend themselves, show they are here legally and haven't committed crimes IS due process. If after said due process they are here illegally, or have committed crimes that changes a legal status, etc, they could be deported.
So, if a foreign army invades the US, occupies a region for say...6months soldiers would require a trial before removal? What if it can be proven that this mass immigration was a de facto invasion directed by US enemies? Not saying it is/was. But for the sake of argument. Trump has called them invaders. That makes it an invasion because he says it is.

I suppose. It’s frustrating to hear the argument, every person on US soil gets due process. Then you show a law that’s been in effect for 30 years that says, no they don’t and it’s completely ignored and deemed irrelevant. Let’s discuss the intricacies of those laws. Same with guns. But it seems either they are not willing or interested to discuss these things.

They don’t have to do any of that. The law states if they’ve entered illegally they can be deported. It’s that simple. That’s what the law says.

For me part of the board is trying to understand the support for a socialist system of government despite its failure time and time again.

I genuinely try to understand our economic and government systems and why they are they way they are. How they got that way, if they are getting intended results.

The stock market has a lot of “crowd behavior” psychology to it and to be honest this board helps me figure out what the crowd is thinking.

This is going to sound strange but one thing I’ve noticed in just a few weeks is how much differently people with children and families view the world vs people that are single, it seems that the liberals here are single and the most outspoken on this board meet that criteria. Could the dynamic of only caring about yourself and not concerning yourself with others be related to being alone? Meaning in this context, they don’t have a child or spouse that’s vulnerable, that they want to protect, a life they’re responsible for. That causes a rift between them and the people that do have those things, as a husband and father my family is my number one priority. You don’t have that as a 45 year old single guy. So advocating for every Tom dick and harry to come into our nation and go to our schools and drive on our streets with zero vetting is concerning.

I agree it might cause different perspectives, but their vote counts just as much as anyone else’s.

To me it’s about setting up systems that allow anyone to thrive should they so choose. And keeping the systems efficient (keep bad actors out)

Republicans showing they don’t actually care about laws, checks and balances between the branches of government, or the constitution. Free speech and due process be damned in their minds.

They want one person to run the government and to tell them how they should feel.

Wild times we are living in.

I agree. I’m simply making an observation. There’s a definite difference in political alignment between family men and single men, that’s interesting. It kind of jives with the old saying: if you weren’t a liberal in your 20’s you were heartless and if you weren’t conservative by your 30’s you were brainless.
