I wasn't responding to your original post - I was just providing you with facts. Not everyone who crosses the border got expelled, mainly because people were allowed to request asylum. Counting total crossings is asinine because it lumps asylum seekers in with everyone else.

I’m simply trying to make the correct point, that not every person in the US is granted due process after multiple posters claimed over and over that it was. That’s completely relevant. There are an estimated 15M illegals in the country. If each has a 1 hour due process court proceeding that is 15M hours. Divide 15M by 24 hours and you get 625,000 days, 625,000 days divided by 365 days (1 year) and you get 1,712 years of court time. Even if you had 500 judges doing this 24 hours a day it would take 300+ years.

It's a statement that nonprofessionals shouldn't be arguing with professionals on a topic they don't understand. It's not mocking their careers.
The problem with expedited removal is that it was expanded this year to broadly increase its scope, so it's massively different than what was originally proposed in 1996. The SC hasn't made a ruling on this recent change, so we don't know if it will remain "legal." Due Process is afforded to all persons in the US, but the SC ruled 5 years ago that the original iteration of ER didn't violate the 4th amendment.

Sure, I don't care about trans men/women in sports. I think that the current transitioning policy for minors is sound - 6 months of psychological review is required, along with both parents consenting, before any kind of hormone therapy can be provided to the minor. Considering the drop in suicide rates amongst teens I think it's been beneficial. I don't think, as it pertains to this discussion, athletes and parents, are the "experts" whose opinion matters. It would be psychological professionals and medical health experts.
Hell you could end the entire debate with the 2nd amendment. Any regulation or registration could be seen as infringement and therefore unconstitutional.

Stop being so sensitive. The original ER law stated that it was only applicable to individuals within 100miles of the border and who had been in the US for <14 days. It was expanded Jan 25, 2025 to anywhere in the US and a <2 year window.
SC said the ORIGINAL LAW WASN'T A VIOLATION OF DUE PROCESS. Not the expanded ruling from this year. Ruling that something does not violate due process is not the same as saying not everyone is given due process, fyi.
Not all parents are an expert in the medical field. Plenty of parents are dipshits that get their children killed due to their stupidity and negligence - see each parent in west Texas whose children have died from measles this year.
Regardless, minors can't get hormone therapy or gender affirming care without consent from both parents, so their input is considered and required.
So the only change that was implemented was the amount of time passed for ER to remain lawful. That most likely holds up.
And the distance from the border/point of entry has been removed. This SC will likely uphold it, but until they do it's still in question.

Regarding your second paragraph - because it's easier for innocent people to get rounded up and sent off. If you don't have a piece of documentation on your person showing that you've been in the US >2 years, or proving that you're there legally you run the risk of being deported without a potential hearing to prove your innocence. Similar to what happened to Abrego being rounded up because he was sitting outside an Ikea while wearing a Chicago Bulls hat and being accused of being a gang member despite annual check-ins with ICE for 6 years showing nothing of the sort.
Ok but serious question. I think I read that guy had been in the US since 2014. How has he been here that long and not have any documentation? Is that accurate? I may be thinking of a different instance. How’d a person live here for 11 years with no ID or anything?

He came in 2011 when he was 15 or 16. He married a US citizen and had applied for asylum, and was awarded a work permit from ICE. The work permit he was given by ICE doubles as an ID.

ICE stopped him after he left work and picked up his son from his grandmother's house. They told him his immigration status changed and then sent him to a detainment center in Texas as part of that big El Salvador plane photo op last month. His wife filed a lawsuit which made its way up to the SC who eventually ruled in her favor. The administration admitted it ****ed up, but refuse to facilitate his return, which is why the DoJ was just held in contempt of court yesterday.
It's theorized the reason El Salvador and the admin won't/can't return Abrego is because he's dead. CECOT is essentially a death camp, and he was housed with the same gang that threatened his life back in 2011 which led to his flight to the US.
That’s troubling to say the least. I would think both sides could learn something here. That should never happen but quite frankly we shouldn’t have ever been in a position where ICE is charged with rounding up millions of people that aren’t supposed to be here. It’s tragic all around.
