Well, I'm a moderate and your point is well taken. HOWEVER, the question is: Are you just a Republican shill like most on here, bitching when YOUR guy is inconvenienced? Did you have a problem with the Republican Senate holding up the SCOTUS folks that Obama nominated? I doubt it. But it's the same thing on both sides of the aisle and one of the primary reasons this country is going downhill fast.
I'm a capitalist by nature and I think that socialism in general drags most to the norm while capitalism strives for excellence. So socialism from top to bottom in a society sucks. BUT unchecked capitalism sucks too, when the rich continually get richer at the expense of the poor and control the government. That's where we are headed right now. The strength of a country is built on the back of the middle class.
From an historical perspective, FDR put some VERY HEAVY taxes on the upper class and businesses in the early 1930s. That (and the government spending that accompanied the new taxes) jumped the US out of the Great Depression and fueled the rise of the middle class in America. Was that a bad thing? Did no companies succeed or anyone get rich in the almost 50 years that these laws were in place? Quite the contrary in fact and most consider the late 40s, the 50s, and early 60s to be a "golden age" for America. Many fortunes were made and some of the most successful companies today have their roots there.
Reagan (whom I actually like), started the rollback on taxing the wealthy and it's continued since then. And like clockwork the middle class has steadily shrunk as the tax burden on the wealthy has gone down. To be fair, the middle class shrinkage has gone both ways (more poor and more wealthy). But a country messes with their middle class at their peril and we are starting to really see the results of this.
There's a healthy balance that can be struck between extremes. And the liberal who thinks they have it all figured out is just as stupid as his conservative counterpart. And there are VERY few moderates left to inject sanity into the conversation. As an example, take this chick's Green New Deal. It's not reasonable and to say it is, is stupid. BUT, the sun delivers more energy to the earth in an hour than all of humankind uses in a year.

It's figuratively raining soup. Is the best we can do to dig and pump stuff out of the ground and set it on fire? Really? Fossil based fuels are the most efficient right now because we've been working with them for a long time and we are pretty good at it. Investing in renewable resources efficiency will yield similar results over time. AND there's a limit to how much stuff there is to dig/pump out of the ground, but the sun is going to be shining for a while. Water is going to flow and the wind is going to blow. And it's all free and right there for the taking. We just have to figure out the right bowl and spoon.
Transitioning off fossil fuels in the next 10 years isn't reasonable. But investing in renewable resources and moving away from fossil fuels is a SMART move for the future. See. Moderation is the way. Nobody foaming at the mouth at all.
