I completely agree with you about politicians (Democrats in this scenario) playing class warfare for votes. Successful people should not be demonized. I also respect the fact you feel you pay too high a percentage in taxes, but are also common-sensed enough to know that probably will not change. I expect as long as you are not made out as the “enemy”, you can live with your situation.

This is one of the many subjects that our current political class will not fix because they don’t want to. Democrats will continue to talk “fair share”, while Republicans will talk about “middle class tax cuts” that put very little in the pockets of the middle class. And then will target “entitlement programs” to slash to pay for the cuts.

IMO one of the biggest issues in this country is the ever widening gap between the middle class and the ultra-rich. Now that we are 2-3 generations deep in wealth, we have millions of folks that have no concept of what it means to struggle or build your own wealth. Unfortunately, many of these types (trust fund babies) are the decision makers in politics and large corporations. That’s the ones living on tax loopholes, company cutbacks and wage suppression to pay for more toys (vacations, mansions, jets, etc) instead of reinvesting in growing our middle class. I have no clue how to solve this problem, as it is a “heart vs greed” issue, but it definitely won’t happen by using our tax system as a weapon.

Sorry for the ramble, but I always enjoy your posts. There are a few “thinking people” on this board and you are definitely one of them. I’m happy for your success and would bet you are raising your kids to appreciate your hard work and sacrifices and teaching them how to do it themselves.
