Terrible story, a beautiful young lady in 5 Points

This is so tragic. My heart breaks for her family. I sent this story to my daughter, who often uses Uber, as a reminder to always confirm the vehicle and driver before getting into a car.

Someone on another board just claimed it wasn't murder. Not sure what else it would be other than a possible overdose.

I think when the catch the worthless piece of sh!t, they need to tie him to a post in 5 Points and let people pay $20..00 a pop to get a good punch in, if your punch wasn't good, you get a retry. The money raise would go to the family. Then, after he is beaten to within an inch of his life, give him some swift justice...

Black male born in 93. She thought it was her Uber. He dumped her body in a turkey field in Clarendon county. Blood was found along with bleach and cleaning supplies. Suspect fled on foot after normal traffic stop and apprehended. Kudos to CPD

Unbelievable. The son of a bitch was driving around the exact same area 24 hours later with the girls cellphone and blood in the car. Thank god for the girls family and the community he was that arrogant, or stupid, or whatever to return to the scene like that and get his ass busted

Not shocking at all that there are such d-bags in the world. a young girl gets raped and murdered and you have nothing to add to the conversation other than to call her dumb.

Yep...unbelievable. A college kid is trying to be responsible, gets preyed on and somehow people can justify coming on a message board and saying how “kids these days...”

My goodness...this could happen to anyone

Totally agreed. Dumb and arrogant is a bad combo.

I feel like I have been cutting onions after reading that. I don't know what I would do if anything horrible happened to my baby girl.
The odds of TT killing someone went up infinity percent the day his daughter was born. I know exactly what I would do, I just hope and pray no one is dumb enough to bring that upon themselves.

I don’t think anyone is on a high horse for thinking women could do a better job of avoiding dangerous situations. Call me sexist if you want but no woman should go out drinking or go home without a friend. Buddy system exists for a reason. And if you do allow your friend to go home alone, you make damn sure she gets in the right car

I agree but come on...put yourself back in college and everyone drinking at 2 a.m. A lot of “plans” don’t happen. For people to sit here and place blame on her or her friends is ridiculous or try to say “she should have done better” we’re probably perfect angels in college and never made stupid drunk mistakes.

This asshole preyed on a drunk girl in 5 Points that lost her friends.

Yep. Only one decision in this entire scenario led to her being murdered and that was the decision by the guy to murder her. We need to stop telling women what they need to do to stop from being raped and murdered and start holding the people that commit these acts accountable for their actions. There is too much victim blaming and too much coddling of the people that commit these acts. It’s rather sickening.

I’m not disputing that at all. I simply said certain things could hopefully be avoided. We should be educating young people on this type of thing, not the BS dangers of alcohol course most schools make you take

Being in college gives you a license to be a shitty, flaky friend??

The problem is we “victim blame” after the fact instead of doing a better job of educating prior

No they’re not. They’re realists. A young girl was shitface at a bar and was preyed on by a monster. It’s terribly tragic. No one ITT needs a lesson in risk management. You’re a moron.
I wasn't talking about the realists.

Being an adult on a message board gives people the right to point the finger at this girl and her friends for some asshole who preyed on her?

I’d say the people who are putting blame on her are much worse than her and her college friends that she got separated from while drinking.

And how is it exactly blaming? No one is saying she asked for it. Or that her friends did. Just saying people should be more responsible to avoid dangerous situations. Would you walk down a dark inner city alley late at night alone? No you wouldn’t and it wouldn’t be your fault for being jumped if you did but it certainly could have been avoided knowing the potential danger.

I think that’s a fair argument and not blaming by any means. The best way to defeat crime and sin will always be preventative not punitive

Hyperbole?

Simple question...was it a good idea for her to get in a car, with a stranger, alone?

She was in Five Points, she was drunk, got separated from her friends, tried to call an Uber to get home safe and was preyed on.

She was actually trying “risk management”

No one knows how she got separated from her friends. Did they leave her, did she leave them? No one knows the facts. You are stating that she didn’t do a good job keeping herself safe which is pointing the finger directly at her...sorry but regardless she was doing things that every college kid does. She probably goes to Five Points multiple times a week and has probably Ubered home on multiple occasions. But now some on here are talking about what she could have done better instead of what the asshole did to her

That’s pretty fvcked up honestly

Too many people are harping on it being a female in question. It’s not a good idea for a male to go either

I travel for business and women I know get into Ubers alone all the time. Same with cabs. Been happening for years and years!! This is not new

Hell I Uber almost weekly and so do most people in my industry...male and female
