This just in: Georgia Gov. Kemp to sign SIP order for all of GA 4/2/20 and

SIP means nothing at all. Literally nothing different than what's already being done.

How do people continue to not get this?

Why are so many of you bitching about what is, according to you, the same in effect but with slightly different messaging then?

To the extent it is a stronger measure, it is warranted. To the extent it is not, it is not a big deal and therefore not worth complaining about.

Right. But Tillman and many more believe that suddenly people will stay home. Please.

One pretty effective way of keeping people home is not allowing businesses to be open. We've been on lockdown here in Santa Monica for the better of three weeks. Folks are out and about walking around- but are (mostly) keeping a safe distance from each other. Grocery stores have implemented measure that limit contact with other people, only allowing a certain number of people in at a time, maintaining a safe distance between people in line, etc. It seems to be working. Maybe it's because people here aren't as invested in the "Don't Tread on Me" mentality, but it does work when people use common sense. My fear since the beginning of this (I was freaking out in mid-January when I first saw the reports of how China was responding) was that our love of individual freedom and disdain for government mandates would cause this to be much worse here than in other countries.

Im sure they will start policing people if they see a lot of people not complying.

with that as your big fear it’s a good thing you’re in Cali which I no longer even consider America.

Thanks for your enlightening contribution to the discussion.

By the way- if anyone knows of where I could get some ventilators, let me know. The non-profit medical center I work for is 40 short of our projected need.

Yeah you’re probably right. I think Kemp made his decision looking at the latest models and seeing that if the numbers are right Georgia will not have enough hospital beds to take care of people. He also reacted to the presidential task force meeting last night calling it a game changer-the data that people can be actively contagious without symptoms at all and just how transmissible this virus is. Seems like Drs. Fauci and Birx scared the crap out of Kemp and others.

Thats not some new development. That has been known since the early stages of the virus in the US

You act like people will suddenly stay home bc there an order that they have to. I don’t believe people will listen.
Why won’t they? They do in my neighborhood. You probably argue that there is no need for traffic lights if people would just share the road.

Social distancing works. Look how California, which acted quickly, has held down the number (so far) of cases/deaths.

I hope South Carolina quickly follows suit and Tennessee too.

This isn’t about a government takeover. It is about doing whatever it takes to slow this disease down.

Do you really believe a SIP is the answer? If so, you're the perfect person to respond to my confusion about why so many on here WANT the government to shut down the state/city/country/etc. It's like you all believe that government is what will solve the virus conundrum. It's like you don't believe that you have the ability to stay home if that is what you think is best. You're waiting for some dude to tell you you have to stay home. That just blows my mind.

No. I want everyone to stay tf home. That way, we flatten the curve and get back to normalcy sooner.

You act like this is some constitutional crisis.
You don't understand the curve. You flatten the curve, you save a lot of lives, but you get back to normal later because the curve is flattened.

Click on the link for the curves/projections someone posted yesterday.

https://covid19.healthdata.org/projections

Click the dropdown for NY. That is NOT flattening the curve. Lots of deaths, but the curve will tail down around the end of April.

Click the dropdown for SC. That is flattening the curve. A lot less deaths, but the curve is flatter so we don't get out of it until the end of May.

Nah. I don’t belong here it’s pretty clear. My values are quite different.
There has been some ancient writings about the confluence of all this kind of stuff.

And, ironically (really?), the communal world wide situations (we are overmassed globally in many places) have been building for a while and now just 'happen' to surface when the masses are at ease in their fluff.
Panic ensues.
Panic almost always is destructive, if not deadly.

This is just the beginning of birth pains.

*I just hate to lose College Football.
I guess I needed to 'get a life' earlier. ; )

Are you clueless...the executive order is not for sensible people that believe they should stay home...it is for the dumbasses that think this is nothing and that refuse to change their daily life and there are tons of them out there.

Yeah but those people don’t respect laws do they.

The stupidity in this thread is exactly why the USA will have a bad outcome from this virus. The projection of 100,000-200,000 fatalities is based on the assumption that we execute the social distancing measures perfectly. Clearly we won't. We aren't. Prepare to watch the bodies pile up, and remember your reaction to the these orders.

Right?! I have seen thousands of people on social media comment sections begging SIP to be put in place yet they have no idea what that entails. We have all essentially been under one for over two weeks.

abortion numbers should be included in children under 5.
OMG. Please don't start another crusade.
Updated ALL just this current year 2020
Clearly we are misplacing the effort here.

WORLDWIDE Covid-19 Numbers 2019-20
All Deaths so far 52,859

1,931,000 Deaths of children under 5 this year
10,795,009 Abortions this year

Over 100,000 A DAY!!!
16,002 Deaths of children under 5 today
90,001 Abortions today (average is over 115,000/day)
