I'm honestly not trying to fight over this since most of you seem to have your minds made up. My point is to educate, sexual preference doesn't have anything to do with someone's gender identity. As mentioned below, gay people obviously have a different sexual preference that the gender norm.

Again, it's hard to understand, they are new concepts to me as an almost 50 year old man, but I have met and have friends who are on all sides of this issue. My basic priciple is to not be an asshole. Who someone else wants to live with,marry,and have sex with doesn't effect me, and frankly isn't my business. Someone else having more rights doesn't take away mine.

Until you have the integrity to look into this issue honestly, let's quit pretending you're interested in having an honest debate. Most of the stories that have been shared about these children show that they have identified as the opposite sex long before they even knew what sex or gender were. These are NOT their parents encouraging them to do anything to themselves, in fact, in the interviews I've seen, these parents are tortured and struggling and begging people to allow them some grace. They love their children deeply and this is very difficult for them as well and they need some breathing room from you political attack hounds that aren't involved in this very personal family decision. It's NOT YOUR FAMILY so keep your fake ass out of it.

So it sounds like we can all agree that we need to keep this stuff out of the schools, right? Focus on math, science, etc..

If it comes to light that someone is confused about their gender, then channel them to the right professional resources with the parents involved. It is a small percentage of the population or so I am told.

Agreed, but as I have stated, my wife is a school counselor and she has kids come to her and ask questions about sexuality and gender. Particularly because they are scared to ask their parents. Should it be illegal for her to talk with those kids? It is in Florida.

My concern lies with kids safety, I also think these concerns about trans grooming etc in schools are extremely overblown for the sole purpose of firing people up for votes.
