Trump to nominate fox news host as secretary of defense

I think it's a team effort and Team Trump will get it done. We already know what their goals are and I support those goals. Hegseth is another guy that bleeds red white and blue. He will work as hard as he has to imo.
You'd be saying the same thing if trump nominated Pee Wee Herman

Where does one establish a moral code if not from a higher power. Name for me one foundational moral precept that doesn't have its roots in religion?

Many past and present atheist recognize the importance of religion in establishing a strong moral code as a means to promote and sustain peaceful communal living.
Can you source a quote from any atheist that says that religion is important to establishing a strong moral code?

And to answer your first question, all of them. Concepts like “its wrong to murder someone” existed well before Judaism.

It has everything to do with who we are as a republic.

And then we had a constitutional convention that determined state run churches and the co-mingling of religion and government was so bad we literally made it the very first thing we addressed in the bill of rights.

Mayflower landed 140 years before the american revolution, by the way.

Why are Republicans mad at Tim Kaine for saying the truth. The guy is a Slimeball, he cheated on his 1st wife with his 2nd wife and cheated on his 2nd wife after she had his kid and then got his 3rd wife pregnant while married to his 2nd wife. He is his own soap opera

I agree. References to a god should be removed from our currency. Glad we see eye to eye on this.
You know we don't. but good try mam.
That statement was put there for a reason. I assume you do not like it and honestly, I hope you eventually find the Lord and Savior in your life.
Those struggles you are having. They don't seem so bad when you have that.

Spare me the, I am doing great comment, etc, etc.

I have no issue with anyone celebrating their faith - Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindi, etc. I have a major problem with one religion enforcing their belief system on the rest of the country. I imagine all the Christians on this board would feel the same way if a Muslim/Hindu/Jainist/etc were to come to power and start pushing laws through tailored to their specific religious teachings.

Given that you're so staunchly opposed to government officials seeking the favor of the Creator, Perhaps the first and most apt is Benjamin Franklin. Though he himself was not a believer, he thought it important that his niece (and others) get their moral instruction from parochial schools.

The very concept of right and wrong proceed from religion. Without it, how do you even decide what is right or wrong? Sure, in our society it is wrong to deprive somebody of life or Liberty or property without due process, but that's because our laws were firmly rooted in religion. In fact, is not the word right, just a shortened version of the word righteous?

I am a direct descendant from the Mayflower:

Benjamin Franklin wrote a whole pamphlet on the topic. His stance on this is well known, so I didn't think it needed a direct quote. But here's one from the aforementioned....
History will also afford frequent Opportunities of showing the Necessity of a Publick Religion , from its Usefulness to the Publick; the Advantage of a Religious Character among private Persons; the Mischiefs of Superstition, &c. and the Excellency of the CHRISTIAN RELIGION above all others antient or modern.
