You'd be saying the same thing if trump nominated Pee Wee Herman
It has everything to do with who we are as a republic. This has no place in our government.
Can you source a quote from any atheist that says that religion is important to establishing a strong moral code?Where does one establish a moral code if not from a higher power. Name for me one foundational moral precept that doesn't have its roots in religion?
Many past and present atheist recognize the importance of religion in establishing a strong moral code as a means to promote and sustain peaceful communal living.
And then we had a constitutional convention that determined state run churches and the co-mingling of religion and government was so bad we literally made it the very first thing we addressed in the bill of rights.
Can you tell me about this person’s qualifications for the job that they had and what exactly you felt made them unqualified?
You know we don't. but good try mam.I agree. References to a god should be removed from our currency. Glad we see eye to eye on this.
Given that you're so staunchly opposed to government officials seeking the favor of the Creator, Perhaps the first and most apt is Benjamin Franklin. Though he himself was not a believer, he thought it important that his niece (and others) get their moral instruction from parochial schools. Can you source a quote from any atheist that says that religion is important to establishing a strong moral code?
And to answer your first question, all of them. Concepts like “its wrong to murder someone” existed well before Judaism.
I am a direct descendant from the Mayflower:And then we had a constitutional convention that determined state run churches and the co-mingling of religion and government was so bad we literally made it the very first thing we addressed in the bill of rights.
Mayflower landed 140 years before the american revolution, by the way.
I’m doing great, etc etcYou know we don't. but good try mam.
That statement was put there for a reason. I assume you do not like it and honestly, I hope you eventually find the Lord and Savior in your life.
Those struggles you are having. They don't seem so bad when you have that.
Spare me the, I am doing great comment, etc, etc.
Ok, congrats. What does that have to do with anything?

The very concept of right and wrong proceed from religion. Without it, how do you even decide what is right or wrong? Sure, in our society it is wrong to deprive somebody of life or Liberty or property without due process, but that's because our laws were firmly rooted in religion. In fact, is not the word right, just a shortened version of the word righteous?

History will also afford frequent Opportunities of showing the Necessity of a Publick Religion , from its Usefulness to the Publick; the Advantage of a Religious Character among private Persons; the Mischiefs of Superstition, &c. and the Excellency of the CHRISTIAN RELIGION above all others antient or modern.
Ok. Benjamin Franklin was not an atheist. So…Benjamin Franklin wrote a whole pamphlet on the topic. His stance on this is well known, so I didn't think it needed a direct quote. But here's one from the aforementioned....
Many say he was a deist, some insist he was an atheist. In no respect was he a Christian.Ok. Benjamin Franklin was not an atheist. So…

So I guess we’ve settled on no, you can’t source a quote from an actual atheist that says religion is important for establishing a strong moral code. Many say he was a deist, some insist he was an atheist. In no respect was he a Christian.
You made it sound as if Trump held a nazi rally and said it that way for a reason, dont deflect. Everybody knows all you do is lie and are a horrible pos person...Did you know that a real nazi rally was held in that same building in 1939? There were shades of the language used back then as well.
Stephen Miller : "America is for Americans and Americans only." Anyone who knows him well knows what he really meant
Other things heard:
"occupied country"
"enemy within"
"Puerto Rico is a floating island of garbage"
"poisoning the blood"
Other speakers made crude remarks and "jokes" about Latinos, Black Americans and immigrants. I know you think this is normal because Trump has spent so many years conditioning you but this is not the America the rest of us know and love. This is the dark language of an authoritarian movement driven by hatred and the desire to divide - kinda like the nazis...
Oh shut it with your gaslighting strawmen and lies! It's all a bunch of lying strawlighting gasmen!!You made it sound as if Trump held a nazi rally and said it that way for a reason, dont deflect. Everybody knows all you do is lie and are a horrible pos person...
I can source countless, I interact with them daily... but I am trying to reference someone famous or that you might otherwise be able to relate to. For some reason you refuse to acknowledge it.So I guess we’ve settled on no, you can’t source a quote from an actual atheist that says religion is important for establishing a strong moral code.
I will posit that no institution has done more damage to the world. I would suggest that for every Religious act of charity or kindness that has helped someone, there have been 10 religious acts that have resulted in human suffering. Whether its the Catholic church selling indulgences in exchange for “salvation,” or American plantation owners justifying slavery with Bible verses, or zealots flying planes into buildings, or even just the twisting of minds with outright falsehoods, religion has done far more damage than good.but you will not find an institution that has done more good for the world

You don’t know why I hate religion? I am forced to use money that says in god we trust, I am forced to hear ‘under god’ every time I pledge allegiance to the country’s flag, I am forced to be represented by government officials who say they want to do “god’s will” in complete defiance of the first amendment. Just yesterday the speaker of the house quoted the bible in celebration of passing a bill for the explicit and sole purpose of limiting the rights of certain Americans. I have a social contract with a government that says it will make no law respecting the establishment of religion yet everywhere I look the exact opposite is happening.
You want religion in your life? Cool. Don’t make it part of my life. Don’t tell me that you’re better than me because you have some super secret divine knowledge, don’t tell me that I can’t be moral because I don’t subscribe to your beliefs.
The doctrine of Christianity is not tough to hate. The doctrine of Christianity is to spread demonstrable falsehoods. If the doctrine of Christianity was “go help people just because its the right thing to do” then sure, it would be hard to hate. But the doctrine is “go help people AND spread the word.” Christians don’t selflessley help people, they do it to proselytize. And in doing so they take people’s autonomy away, they teach children that they must do certain things and live a certain way or else they will burn in hell for all eternity. Talk about grooming. This impacts the decisions that person makes for the rest of their lives and now those decisions they’re making are based on total fabrication and THAT is immoral.
And if you really don’t want me to “hate” religion, maybe don’t go around telling people that they have no hope and no purpose and live in the pit of hell. What a pretentious, patronizing thing to say to someone.
Why are Republicans mad at Tim Kaine for saying the truth. The guy is a Slimeball, he cheated on his 1st wife with his 2nd wife and cheated on his 2nd wife after she had his kid and then got his 3rd wife pregnant while married to his 2nd wife. He is his own soap opera
Yeah I wasn’t a fan of this. His personal sexual history has nothing to do with the merits of his qualifications. Plenty of real issues there to question him on. Senator Duckworth did a much better job.
And of course I'm sure you were complaining about Bill Clinton back then right? But since Hegseth has a R by his name, you're ok with the fact apparently the man can't keep his pants on. How come both sides can't see their own hypocrisy?
Bill was President of the United States abusing an intern in the oval office. His wife stood by his side for the power. Neither Bill nor Hillary have owned up to the many sins they have committed. And of course I'm sure you were complaining about Bill Clinton back then right? "He's forgiven by the lord". The right love to use the lord, when their side is full of it.Bill was President of the United States abusing an intern in the oval office. His wife stood by his side for the power. Neither Bill nor Hillary have owned up to the many sins they have committed.
Hegseth served this country with honor surviving combat in war zones. When he came home he had challenges that he has acknowledged and own up to them. His current wife is standing by his side. He has been forgiven by his Lord and Savior.
The lost can't see the difference.
