And then we had a constitutional convention that determined state run churches and the co-mingling of religion and government was so bad we literally made it the very first thing we addressed in the bill of rights.

I have no issue with anyone celebrating their faith - Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindi, etc. I have a major problem with one religion enforcing their belief system on the rest of the country. I imagine all the Christians on this board would feel the same way if a Muslim/Hindu/Jainist/etc were to come to power and start pushing laws through tailored to their specific religious teachings.
Given that you're so staunchly opposed to government officials seeking the favor of the Creator, Perhaps the first and most apt is Benjamin Franklin. Though he himself was not a believer, he thought it important that his niece (and others) get their moral instruction from parochial schools.
The very concept of right and wrong proceed from religion. Without it, how do you even decide what is right or wrong? Sure, in our society it is wrong to deprive somebody of life or Liberty or property without due process, but that's because our laws were firmly rooted in religion. In fact, is not the word right, just a shortened version of the word righteous?

I can source countless, I interact with them daily... but I am trying to reference someone famous or that you might otherwise be able to relate to. For some reason you refuse to acknowledge it.
Not every atheist is as militantly anti-religious as you are. I don't know why you hate religion so badly (I've seen your other posts and threads). Perhaps you've had a bad experience. There are both evil and deeply troubled people hiding behind religion. And religious institutions have failed tragically and spectacularly at one of their most basic charges (protecting the vulnerable), but the institutions overall do substantially more good world wide than any the world over.
Moreover, the doctrine of Christianity is really tough to hate. Sure, mock it for it's supposed mysticism and it's outlandish tales of miracle, etc, if you must; but you will not find an institution that has done more good for the world save, perhaps, for the United States government.... And that might be cutting it pretty close.
At the end of the day, we all serve a God whether you acknowledge it or not.
To serve nothing is the same thing as serving everything and anything. It's putting your hope in nothing and finding purpose in nothing--which is the same in reverse...to have no purpose and no hope. And that sir, is the true pit of misery. To live with no purpose is to live in hell.
I will posit that no institution has done more damage to the world. I would suggest that for every Religious act of charity or kindness that has helped someone, there have been 10 religious acts that have resulted in human suffering. Whether its the Catholic church selling indulgences in exchange for “salvation,” or American plantation owners justifying slavery with Bible verses, or zealots flying planes into buildings, or even just the twisting of minds with outright falsehoods, religion has done far more damage than good.
You don’t know why I hate religion? I am forced to use money that says in god we trust, I am forced to hear ‘under god’ every time I pledge allegiance to the country’s flag, I am forced to be represented by government officials who say they want to do “god’s will” in complete defiance of the first amendment. Just yesterday the speaker of the house quoted the bible in celebration of passing a bill for the explicit and sole purpose of limiting the rights of certain Americans. I have a social contract with a government that says it will make no law respecting the establishment of religion yet everywhere I look the exact opposite is happening.
You want religion in your life? Cool. Don’t make it part of my life. Don’t tell me that you’re better than me because you have some super secret divine knowledge, don’t tell me that I can’t be moral because I don’t subscribe to your beliefs.
The doctrine of Christianity is not tough to hate. The doctrine of Christianity is to spread demonstrable falsehoods. If the doctrine of Christianity was “go help people just because its the right thing to do” then sure, it would be hard to hate. But the doctrine is “go help people AND spread the word.” Christians don’t selflessley help people, they do it to proselytize. And in doing so they take people’s autonomy away, they teach children that they must do certain things and live a certain way or else they will burn in hell for all eternity. Talk about grooming. This impacts the decisions that person makes for the rest of their lives and now those decisions they’re making are based on total fabrication and THAT is immoral.
And if you really don’t want me to “hate” religion, maybe don’t go around telling people that they have no hope and no purpose and live in the pit of hell. What a pretentious, patronizing thing to say to someone.

Yeah I wasn’t a fan of this. His personal sexual history has nothing to do with the merits of his qualifications. Plenty of real issues there to question him on. Senator Duckworth did a much better job.

Bill was President of the United States abusing an intern in the oval office. His wife stood by his side for the power. Neither Bill nor Hillary have owned up to the many sins they have committed.
Hegseth served this country with honor surviving combat in war zones. When he came home he had challenges that he has acknowledged and own up to them. His current wife is standing by his side. He has been forgiven by his Lord and Savior.

After watching these confirmation hearings,, I just think it’s so wonderful that the people of Hawaii are being so inclusive that they elected a special needs individual represent them. You just want to give Maisie Hirono a high 5 and say “You go girl!!! Now here is your pudding”
