Two residents died from COVID

Two medical residents in NYC have in the last 24 hours from COVID-19. Both were in their 20s and became infected while taking care of patients with COVID. Very sad situation.
Keep this in mind when people continue to minimize this whole thing.

Stories have to get to the reporter, who then has to research and verify and then write the story. If no one wants to confirm the story, either at the hospital or from family members, it is going to take a bit to get reported. Most businesses, hospitals, gov. agencies etc. have guidelines on what they will release and how soon.

In the age of instant news, it doesn't actually mean it's instant.

There is no reason to disbelieve him. Nothing wrong with skepticism, but to call someone, who has obviously shown to be telling the truth about his place in this, a liar is pretty dumb.

They take a few minutes to share some info they have received to help us stay informed. Maybe he doesn’t have all of the specifics yet and maybe the age is off a little, and maybe not. It’s real time info from a real professional on the scene. Two young healthcare workers have died and that is tragic and details enough. Meanwhile, you, while sitting on your ass in the safety of your home in South Carolina, not helping a damn sole, want HIM to take the time to go find YOU a link to a news story with specific details about each person including name, date of birth, SSN, address, etc. or else you are going to shame him on the internet for just adding to “hysteria.”

Death rates are not remotely up to date and surely the info about this 2 residents may not come to light for a couple of days - family may need to be contacted, family may have requested info not be released yet...many reasons why this info is not out there right now. And just to put it in perspective. Interns here make 40-50K. Maybe 60k as a 5th year surgery resident. I think your hourly rates are probably correct. I’ll let you do the math but that’s a hell of a lot of hours. 80 hour restriction be damned.

A fellow in a surgical sub specialty is at least a 6th year and medical at least a 4th.
