If someone I attended medical school with, who was doing residency across the country from me, had one of their fellow residents die then I can promise you I would know long before any public information was available. We had a resident pass away during my training and I found out well before there were any articles written about it

We had a resident pass away during my training and I found out well before there were any articles written about it

I can at least support this. I was a resident when AIDS was discovered and a resident behind me died of it a year after I finished. I knew about it a day later. And there was no such thing as a text or an email.

Two medical residents in NYC have in the last 24 hours from COVID-19. Both were in their 20s and became infected while taking care of patients with COVID. Very sad situation.
Keep this in mind when people continue to minimize this whole thing.
