Masters weekend sees highest ratings in 5 years

Masters weekend sees highest ratings in 5 years

By: Jay Busbee - Yahoo! Sports

Turns out that all golf needs is a foundation-cracking civil war and a compelling duel between two major champions. The Masters recorded its highest weekend ratings in five years on CBS, averaging 12.1 million viewers, the highest since Patrick Reed's victory in 2018.

There is, as always, context that must be applied. Tiger Woods' victory in 2019 came during a rain-rescheduled event that took place Sunday morning. Dustin Johnson's victory in 2020 took place in November, out of season thanks to the pandemic. Hideki Matsuyama's 2021 win and Scottie Scheffler's 2022 win were largely blowouts.

Even so, a 19% year-over-year increase is significant. Viewership on Sunday peaked with more than 15 million viewers in Jon Rahm's final holes.

The weather played havoc with ratings during the tournament; ESPN's Masters coverage Friday was down slightly (3.1 million viewers from 3.5 million) because it had only 90 minutes of live coverage, down from almost five hours the year before.

Republicans are Destroying Themselves

Democrats should just sit back and watch them set themselves on fire at this point. Every time they do or say anything it just makes them look worse to the country at large.

We just need to not even rock the boat anymore. They'll voluntarily jump out of we give them enough time and space.

Thanks for the country, dumbasses. Your abortion stance is doing all our work for us.

Clemson & FSU to the SEC?

Plyler discussed this report on Twitter.

“Don't hold your collective breaths, but recieved a text from a #Big12 conference consultant who can't (and won't) give me any team details other than "I know you'll be busy with your recruiting tournaments this weekend, but keep your phone on you."
“Expecting #B1G to invite #UNC, #UVA, #GT and #TheU, with the #SEC asking #FSU and #Clemson and the #Big12 getting #NCState, #VT, #GoCards and #Pitt. Obviously the #NotreDame deal is tricky and neither #Syracuse nor #BC will be left homeless.”

RBC Heritage

Followed our Clemson representation yesterday and it looked so good for so long.
Ben Martin sank about everything he stood over on his first 9 holes and with 3 holes to go was at -5 but double/double/bogey on his last 3 holes really hurt.
Redman started off good before slipping to 2 over and Lucas made a lot of pars before finally settling in at 2 under.
Hoping Ben gets the hot hand again today and finishes it and hopefully Lucas can continue where he left off yesterday.
Big purse and great field this week in Hilton head (winner makes more than Masters winner and total purse greater than Masters).

Pulling for all of our Clemson golfers......

Cade Klubnik and the WR Corps

Ok, so after getting to watch the game I think Cade will be fine. He seemed comfortable with his reads and his stat line didn't really tell the whole story. He was never really fooled. The two INTs were off of great defensive plays. You can obviously tell there is a stark difference in the talent level between a guy like him and a guy like Trevor.

The first pick never happens with Trevor because of how polished he is as a passer out of a 6'6 frame that can still move as good as if not better than Cade. Still the TD was there if he just floats it a little.

The second pick was a great play by the defense and Turner has to be more aggressive attacking the ball there as well.

He made some simple misses and did the funky retreat once, but took off much quicker in the second half. I believe that he the back to back INTS hurt his confidence for a minute but he did bounce back nicely.

For the other side of the passing game, some of those incompletions were bona fide drops. I know 13 had 2 and 0 had at least 1. I thought Cole could have battled better on the deep shot and pulled it in. He needs the weight room bad. I am really thinking that Beaux is going to need to be the difference maker. If he can clean up his drops then we have a chance. He has looked explosive in practice and he is much further along than Randall. Briningstool finally looked the part and the 1-2 of Ship and Mafah will be nice. I think the missing OL was noticeable but the fact that the OL held up enough was encouraging. Like others have said, even the vanilla scheme we saw Saturday was refreshing. I think the Offense will really start to turn the corner about midseason and if a guy like Beaux plays like he needs to for ANY draft consideration then we have an outside chance of making some noise in the CFP. If he doesn't then we are probably fighting FSU for a conference championship and a New Years Six Bowl.

Thoughts on the spring game

So some of my questions were answered and I was encouraged about somethings.

I think Khalil Barnes and Peter woods are ready day one. I also think as far as field goal and kickoffs we will be okay. Cade was up and down at times yes but even though some people don't want to look at the facts he was down two wr and 3 o-linemen.spector in my opinion will go from yesterday being a starter to at best number number six when guys are healthy and I think Ronan will pass him the boy is fast and I think is underrated.

The offense was encouraging to me because I saw the whole field being used in a game let's be honest your not going to show awhile lot in comparison to play calling into the season. I am still concerned about d-end and punting for sure. But at times the punting did look okay. I just think you shouldn't panic over a spring game with guys out play calling that's not going to be like a actual game . You can think what you want but the creativity from the play calling will be pulled back a bit because of obvious reason's.

But with that being said I took away more good then bad from yesterday there is work to do but I felt better about yesterday's spring game then the Last two years. And seeing bo Collins yesterday up close was encouraging his looks to be in great shape and ready to go. We also look good at tight and and I think Sapp is definitely number two. Go tigers

****A quick word on what's coming this week...

On some rare occasions when you sit down with someone to talk not about sports but real life, and a life of hardship overcome, you realize that it's your job not to write the story but to get the heck out of the way and let that person tell his or her story.

This revelation struck in the spring of 2019 when Brent Venables shared his story for the first time.

It struck again a year or so later when Dabo Swinney's mother, Carol McIntosh, sat down with us to talk about her remarkable life.

Since Nick Eason returned to Clemson in January of 2022, we've heard him make mentions here and there of all the stuff he's dealt with over his 42 years.

It made us want to learn more about him. So a few weeks ago we asked him if we could have the honor of telling his life story.

We'll start to introduce that story later today. Buckle up, because it's a hell of a ride.

GA Gov Kemp, Who Certified Fraudulent 2020 Election in State, Now Creating a New GOP Where Trump Supporters Will Have No Voice

Read what is occurring before you dismiss it.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp certified the fraudulent and uncertifiable 2020 Election in Georgia. Then after doing that he somehow pulled off a 2022 primary win. Now he wants to create a new GOP Party that will eliminate permanently anyone threatening the Good Old Boys in the party.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp certified the 2020 Election in the state that was uncertifiable. Hundreds of thousands of ballots showed up after election day in 2020, giving Joe Biden the lead three days after the election by 12,000 votes. Kemp certified these results, no questions asked.
At that moment Americans learned that Georgia, with its corrupt governor and corrupt Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, was being run by individuals who weren’t honoring their oath to protect the Constitution.

President Trump’s auditor, and a Georgia Senator and former judge – William Ligon, identified tens of thousands of ballot issues, but Raffensperger and Kemp ignored these issues. Raffensperger promised President Trump to get back to his auditor during the now infamous phone call that he held with President Trump but he lied, he never has.
Watching these two corrupt actors steal the 2020 Presidential election in Georgia from President Trump and the people of Georgia, GOP members decided to do something about it.
Many good Americans in Georgia showed up at GOP meetings across the state and ran to replace those in the party who helped put in place corrupt actors like Kemp and Raffensperger.
In response, Kemp wants to create his own corrupt version of the GOP in Georgia. Recently, Kemp shared the following.
Kemp is looking for a divorce from the official state party, and he wants his donors to go with him:
Gov. Brian Kemp took his most significant step yet to break from the Georgia GOP and bolster his own growing political network, telling high-dollar donors that the 2022 midterm was a sign “we can no longer rely on the traditional party infrastructure to win in the future.” His remarks came Wednesday at an Atlanta luncheon for the Georgians First Leadership Committee, a fundraising vehicle created by a Kemp-backed law that can tap unlimited contributions. . . . Kemp is expanding the committee’s mission. He’s hired veteran staffers to lead the organization and told donors Wednesday he now wants to “build on our victories” from November.
Good Americans and Trump supporters are taking back the party so corrupt Kemp is pushing this new GOP in Georgia.
In Cherokee County, just north of Atlanta, a very red county, good Americans attended meetings throughout the county at the lowest level and they brought a lot of fellow good Americans with them and they replaced the old GOP with good Americans who support free and fair elections. These individuals replaced leadership roles at the lowest level and now they run the party in the county, not Kemp-aligned GOP sycophants.
In response, Kemp is reportedly creating his new GOP and labeling it the Cherokee County Republican Coalition. They now have a website. This group is also registered with the state as a non-profit.
It’s believed that Kemp is trying to change the county and/or state GOP’s charter to prevent good Americans from joining ranks and removing crooked politicians like Kemp and Raffensperger from office. The new charter will quietly include wording to protect Kemp and his ilk.
Corrupt people do what corrupt people do.

OT: Weekend Outdoor Cooking Thread....

Smoked a small chuck roast on the 23" WSM on Wednesday. Treated like a Brisket, since it comes off the cow directly adjacent. Came out tender and delicious. Served with a salad of Romaine, cucumber, celery, onion....and a Clemson Bleu Cheese Dressing.

Got a couple of Wagyu Denver Steaks (@TigerJR is the man) ready to go on shortly. Will grill some Pineapple Slices alongside, baked potatoes to go with.
