⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

I think Griffin and Poot are now so desperate that he may just testify. It would be idiotic on its face but they need a Hail Mary (or an idiot juror).
As far as the idiot juror goes, make him or someone in his family an offer they won't refuse to get the result you want.

They must be the one that doesn’t live in a park.
This throws me back to AM's 911 when the 911 operator asked AM if his "white house" was a house or a trailer. AM's response sneered that it was a house. Not sure I'd care about my perceived social standing on a recorded 911 call if I had just stumbled on the dead bodies of my wife and child.

PS - After visiting DC recently, I greatly appreciate trailers over tent cities. Trailers have indoor plumbing so excrement is neatly disposed and likely the owner of a trailer works so has some self respect.

Sorry if this has been asked/answered and I missed it. If if the jury thinks AM had some involvement can they find him guilty, or is he on trial for murder as the trigger man?

People around me all have the opinion of "well if he didn't do it he had it done".I'm curious how that law works.

This theory makes no sense though. Alex performed these murders alone.

If he "had it done," he would've been far away from Moselle at the time of the killings and had a solid alibi. The evidence clearly shows Maggie and Paul died at or near 8:50, and Alex left the property at 9:06. He did not "orchestrate" the killings. He is the killer. While it's clear he is not brilliant, he is also not stupid enough to hire a killer, yet stick around for the murders.

It's also not reasonable to imagine he had help. If he had someone help him kill them, he would've simply hired that person to kill them without his presence. And if someone helped him, that is one more person Alex has to hope keeps his mouth shut. It's simply unreasonable to believe anything other than Alex Murdaugh shot and killed Maggie and Paul by himself.

I don't disagree at all, just curious. Most of the people around me think he had something to do with it even if there's any doubt he's the shooter.

Agreed. Was this planned? Or an argument about drugs that blew up because AM was already stressed to the max about his financial misdeeds/boat lawsuit/finances?

I think there are reasonable arguments for both scenarios.

If it wasn’t reasonable the case would probably be over at this point. Family and friends assist in family murders frequently. There’s probably enough for a jury to find guilt for 1st degree whether he pulled the triggers or not, but we’ll see.

I think leaving his phone at the house and then having it all cleaned up within the minimal time put forth through evidence shows he had to have thought this out in advance. But just my thoughts.

I wish the prosecution could say these exact words but..
"Objection, calls for speculation."

But I agree 100%! Maybe they can say this during closing? Hope so.

Bet the thread gets really hot between now and the verdict.

Hope he enjoys wearing his nice suits and acting like a civilian during his trial. His field trips between prison and court will be it for him. His life seems headed for a lifetime in prison.

I do not see how any family that has been supporting him and thinking he is innocent this whole time can still support and think that after the GM info

It will be interesting to see if his family continues to be by his side. I sure as hell couldn't. It would definitely show what level of give a shit about human lives they have as well

This saga is full of conflicted people. Hard to fathom

If they stop showing up to trial and sitting behind him, that would absolutely influence me if I was a juror.

I can tell you if it was my brother, who I am super close to, and I saw everything I have seen to date I would have a real hard time continuing to support him. I am incredibly close to my nephew as I think the years on here have shown and I don’t think there is any way that if this evidence had been presented I could sit behind and support him

Or my dad if it was my mom and brother and my dad is my best friend.

I just don’t see how anyone can rationally think he wasn’t involved and most likely the shooter

Any idea about how long the defence takes to present their case??

Especially his brother if he burned his clothes in the "shed fire".

Honestly I bet they are in full fledge scramble mode.

Both parties wanted to GM car information out into evidence. Obviously AM did not tell them the truth as to what it would look like. I bet they say there during that wondering if it was time to start thinking plea agreement.

I just don’t see where in the hell they can possibly go with this. Try their ass off to dismiss that evidence as not accurate? That seems pretty far fetched

I bet they aren’t. There are a good many things poot has to harp on. Owen lying will be a big deal.

Yeah I think the GM account ms of where he was kind of overcomes that honestly because the timeline is pretty set

Never have they made any accounts of someone else potentially driving his car or being with him so trying to introduce something like that to CYA isn’t gonna work

I’m sure they will come up with something but they still cannot deny the timeline, the lies, account for where the clothes he was wearing went, why he changed, why he lured Maggie there and they the phone records clearly show him calling and texting non-stop and deleting shit as he went.

They better come up with something better than that in order to prove his testimony and alibi was accurate because so far none of it has been

They know they're fighting an uphill battle, I guarantee you. I disagree that Poot has a good many things to harp on. He will argue:

1. Owen lied to grand jury, so what else is LE lying about?
2. LE focused only on Alex instead of conducting a thorough investigation.
3. Paul and Maggie were murdered, or could have been murdered, after 9:06 when Alex left Moselle.
4. The killings were drug related.

None of this will be enough to overcome the ocean of damning circumstantial evidence.

15 years ago Alex is a free man with no charges being filed.

Him being sloppy with the phones and choosing to drive a vehicle with OnStar did him in. If he would have had a plan to destroy Paul and Maggie's phones I doubt the state stood a chance.
Think people are learning alot about all this technology including people that will commit crimes in the future

If my brothers murders someone, he remains my brother. You don’t condone his conduct, but you keep loving him.

Or so I believe.

I may eventually forgive him but I’m not sitting in court supporting a family members lies after he killed another family member

That is exactly condoning their conduct…

What happened to consequences for your actions? In no way could I sit there and support them while continuing to listen to the lies

Defense attorneys at least get paid for their time. If AM had pled, then they wouldn't have accumulated the paycheck coming their way. Maybe they're the only winners in this. Still a heartbreaking tale, particularly when hearing Maggie's sister's testimony. She'll carry the guilt of encouraging her sister to be a good and supportive wife. She should bear only praise for giving good advice. Seems that AM had them all fooled so Marion should only blame AM.

The State's circumstantial case relies on the electronic information - cellphone info (Snapchat video (at the kennels), clothing @ tree, and cellphone logs at 8:49 pm - presence at crime scene at time of death) and car GPS (which tracks his path that day). The State proceeded to trial without all of the recently acquired car GPS, but with the cumulative value, their case appears more solid.

Without the electronic evidence, what is the State's evidence to convict
It is the electronic age baby

They have it and it is spectacular.....the car GPS totally goes along with cell phone evidence and guarantee you the defense attorneys were pissed when it came out because they asked for it and thought it would help clear him. Bet they got pissed at AM when it came out.

Many people have been convicted of murder on circumstantial evidence,

Add he lied and said he was not even there? How is defense gonna get around that. All they can do is claim the murders happened later but have ZERO circumstantial evidence to suggest that

They can claim they happened later but does that even help? He claimed he got to kennels, found them, checked their pulse, attempted to roll Maggie over and he was there for all of 17 seconds before calling 9-1-1 with new data. That would be physically impossible

Also…impossible to have zero blood on him if he did

Also…where did his clothes from earlier go!

Also…why did he slow down and speed up exactly where Maggie’s phone was dropped

Also…why did he park near the woods at his moms and not in parking are and why was he in and out when he was supposed to be there checking on her

What about the text from Paul telling him Maggie had found drugs in his bag and they needed to talk when he got there

Literally not one thing matches what AM said

The defense has a Mt Everest uphill climb on this one of I am a juror

Love the sinner hate the sin is what I @Ole Tom is getting at.

I don’t care what he’s saying I’m not sitting there in a court room while I know a potential murderer is lying and supporting it.

By defending it you may as well be a part of it. The sinner can repent of their sin and then get help and forgiveness from there.

Right now AW is nothing but a lying narcissist who is not sorry for one thing he’s done wrong yet people are standing beside him which fuels his ego

It was clearly planned, or "spontaneously premeditated" as I've seen written elsewhere. The evidence shows:

1. He lured Maggie there, and lied about why she was there.
2. He lured Paul there.
3. His phone is at the main house inactive from 8:09 to 9:02, even though Alex had been notified earlier that day that his father is dying.

You're right they have it and because they have it, the State has a case. Will be interesting to hear defense next week.

You seem to attach a lot of negativity to sitting with your brother in his hour of judgement, when his wrong is exposed.

I am not in favor of letting murder go unpunished. I do believe that people are accountable for their actions. If my brother is going to spend the rest of his life in jail for killing our Mom so be it. But he is still my brother.

It would be painful to sit near your own brother in his darkest moment. It would be painful to admit you and your brother shared so much and yet he did the unthinkable. I do not equate a court trial to a baseball game. I would not plan on a celebration if my brother got away with murder. But I don't think a Mom or Dad, brother or sister, wife or child is showing weakness or condoning anything to sit there and watch a close relative who did wrong be found guilty. When the gavel bangs down and your brother is found guilty, he is still your brother. Don't lie for him. Don't cheat for him. Don't believe him when he lies.

But it is ok to love your brother in spite of his sin.. It is ok to let him know he is still your brother, or your son, or your Dad, or your Mom.

Or so I think.

You would have thought with Alex being a prosecutor and having deep connections within that office that he would have been privy to what is possible with modern technology.

Pretty sure he was a prosecutor in name only. No way those guys making 7 figure bonuses are slumming it down magistrate’s court on a pro se shoplifting case.
