⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

Can someone even imagine a scenario in which a person or persons other than AM committed the murders. What kind of criminal comes to the property to kill a mother and son and doesn't bring his own weapons and, instead, assumes he will find suitable weapons at the property? I do think there is a reasonable possibility that a second person assisted AM with the crime. In other words I don't believe beyond a reasonable doubt that AM acted alone. But that does not absolve him of guilt for the killings.
I liked the comment in the CNN series from his friend - he said (paraphrasing) "I don't think anyone else did it besides Alex because nobody else in Hampton is crazy enough to kill a Murdaugh."

In other words - given the power that the Murdaughs have, it is impossible to find someone else that would have the balls to kill a Murdaugh.

Man AM and BM both seem to have an arrogant smirk about them during this. This is the most AM has engaged with a witness that I’ve seen
Well it is his son who will have zero credibility when the prosecution cross exam is over

Kid got kicked out of law school for cheating

In my opinion, the least effective witness is the defendants family, especially someone like this kid that will lie out his ass

If this goes anything like seemingly every other case I’ve ever had an interest in (especially if it’s a TV show), I end up believing the last person that talks lol.

I wouldn’t discount at all the ability for the defense to create doubt.
never underestimate the Poot

you know some shady sh!t is going down when Poot is around

my mid-day synopsis -

Buster was nothing as a witness

Why does the AG let Meadors cross anyone - especially the first witness on the first day of the week 2 weeks in a row?!?!?

Defense expert crunched math to their favor - wonder if he measured how tall Alex is when on one knee with the rifle aimed from shoulder?

Prosecution better hammer the expert on cross

Strong witness so far for the defense. Testified that the shooter is likely 5-2 to 5-4 tall and shooting from the hip based on trajectory. AM is 6-4.

He created the model below showing the position of the shooter based on the shell casing locations and trajectory of two different shots. One issue (and I might be missing something) but it puts the shooter standing right on top of Maggie with the shooters back turned and shooting away from Maggie. Obviously that's not possible, so I'll curious to hear explanation of that and the cross.

He's triangulating off of the cartridge casings and the holes.

Move the casings or adapt the ejection port and you could back up how far?

The shooter and body at the same spot doesn't seem right as someone above stated.

They know she was shot at some distance, correct?

Without commenting on the "science" here...

So we're looking for a diminutive killer in Hampton County?

No wonder SLED wasn't concerned about a little shooter on the loose.

Mr. Expert, did you measure the distance from the defendant’s heel to his knee?

5'2" - 5'4" is interesting... That really, really limits the pool and in my mind would make any prosecution rebuttal seem just as believable.

Oh this is getting good. Going to have to grab some popcorn for this cross examination

It would be an interesting twist if Maggie actually killed Paul, and Alex killed Maggie out of rage. The rage/retaliation part would also explain why Alex didn't attempt to explain this and tried to cover it up, because he had fault and probably felt that nobody would believe self defense.

***I don't believe this - just pointing out an interesting plot twist that Hollywood may want to consider.

Would be two guns and explain how Alex picked one up and shot.

(he killed them both)

Fernandez is hitting the expert hard, but maybe a little too hard. Want to be tough on quals and facts, but stay away from the snark and not come across as "mean."

When does Alec’s girlfriend testify? I just cant believe there hasn’t been a mistress revealed yet. Only thing this trial is missing so far.

Very good day for the defense IMO.
Yep, after only one expert they blew massive holes in timing, theory, just about anything the prosecution was trying.

Not sure how anyone doesn’t have reasonable doubt, I’m actually leaning towards acquittal now, not even hung jury.

I just don't have the time to follow a lot of this but had it on in the office this afternoon when I got home. Mike Sutton came off as quite credible and believable.

If the timelines weren't so locked in, it could be interesting. Maggie killed Paul and AM killed Maggie in self defense and/or rage.
