Both properties are under contract. However, the properties can not be officially sold till the trials are over. Moselle and the beach house that is.

“They did him so bad” still stands out to me as the most critical evidence
Yeah it keeps getting brought up by both sides. What I find interesting is he doesn't include his wife by saying THEM. Pretty strange to me.

The first shot across the chest was buckshot. The second shot was birdshot. I agree he was surprised that the first shot didn’t do the job and suspect Paul ran towards him, maybe even to tackle him, when the second shot against his head rushing forward blew up his head.

AM looked like he was rewatching the scene while the testimony was happening.
Have they ever said what type of birdshot? That can be a very vague definition. With the damage that shot caused it likely had to be some high brass, 3in turkey load and not a run of the mill dove load. I realize it doesn't really matter, I'm just curious.

Seems like I heard them say #2 shot. It's often used in duck & goose hunting.

I don’t think there was any particular witness testimony that stood out for the defense other than their questioning of the sled agent and getting him to admit to misleading Alex and his team about blood on the shirt. The car data guy was decent and the gun shot recreator may have helped create some doubt.

Overall, I I would say that the Defense team was smart in framing the murder as brutal as possible every chance they had. That combined with several witnesses for the State that commented on how Alex loved his family especially Paul, will have an affect on jurors. I believe Alex probably helped himself some in showing emotion. At some level you have to buy in to a dad, that hasn’t shown evidence of public animosity with his family, being willing to kill his family members for whatever reason. Some people will not be able to do that and the defense did a good job of framing the case in that light.
Alex's life was a testimony to the fact he did not respect, try to protect, consider or feel responsible for his family. What sort of love is left when you take away all those things from love?

I have no idea of home and ranch values near Hampton SC but a sale at $3-4M for Moselle suggests to me that most people who could afford a thousand acre, well equipped place in lower state want NO PART Moselle because of the stigma and gawkers it will attract. Could Buster be the buyer?

FWIW the drone videos did not impress me in the least. My wife's family farm of 200 acres in Berkeley County looked immeasurably better and sold not long ago for a 1/3 of the Moselle price.

Yea but a Black water river with 2.5 miles of river frontage could be a rich outdoor's mans dream.
Ducks, bluegill, kayaking etc. The lowcountry lore. We only see short planted pines and open land.

Sold for $750 an acre??? Somebody took advantage of someone

Can someone explain to me why the state didn't press John Paul more on the notion that he's still looking for the killers?

Like, how? When? Where?

Where is the evidence that the family has undertaken an all-consuming manhunt that any family would if two of its members were murdered?

We keep hearing about threats on social media. Where are the screen caps, the referrals of those threats to law enforcement, the records of text conversations among the family about the biggest threats?

Amen! The state has repeatedly not followed through on things like this. Maybe they don’t want to know the answers? I don’t know but I sure wish they’d do their jobs more professionally. LE and the prosecutors have left a lot to be desired.

I wish they would've asked him that. The family has made zero attempt to find any killer, and they've taken zero security measures. The reward with an expiration date was a joke.

One interesting thing about John Marvin's testimony though - he said it looked like Alex had just showered. Oops.

Oh wow I didn't even catch that.

Conrad or whatever that lawyer's name was seemed really unprepared.

The fact that John Paul was allowed to go grab the boat after the accident makes me almost physically ill.

John Marvin, not John Paul. But yes, agree.

John Marvin is very close friends with Michael Paul Thomas and Michael Brock, who were DNR guys on scene after the boat crash. The Murdaughs completely control DNR in the Lowcountry, have for years controlled who gets what promotion, who gets hired and fired, etc. Murdaughs had free rein over the crime scene following that accident. I know this to be fact. I witnessed it.

Agree 100 percent. Anyone who's followed the actual court hearing closely, and not the news media or Netflix doc, has saw this firsthand.

SLED messed up from the beginning and investigators were not good. The gentleman who took the stand yesterday, testified that the Prosecution had it all wrong and there were two shooters, and the States theory proves that the person had to shoot Paul with a shotgun from less than 3 feet from the ground.

All the prosecution could say was "you were hired by the defense, right?" It's their only comeback and it's not a good one. That guy isn't some hick investigator who's new to these types of things. He poked holes all in the states theories and basically painted the picture of it being impossible to have happened as the state says it did.

As someone who had their mind made up before the trial started, I've had a change of heart after maybe missing a few minutes of the entire thing. You can read through this thread and tell who isn't watching the actual trial or who's only watched the Netflix doc or listens to Mandy. It's like those people who were at Clemson all day watching 1 team play, but try to tell you what other CFB teams look like because they saw ESPN talk about it. Can't watch highlights or listen to someone else's opinion and then have an educated convo about. It's one of those things you actually have to watch yourself and try to educate yourself on before forming an opinion.

At least, that's what I've learned.

How about just John John?

Put yourself in the shoes of the parents of the girl who died.

You're watching the Netflix documentary and you see a DNR guy, in the hours after the accident, telling another parent that they don't need to call you "because we don't need more confusion around here."

I can't imagine.

Well said. It appears this case should have been a slam dunk but LE and the prosecution have left the door wide open

I mean, that’s what an expert for the defense is supposed to do. It doesn’t mean their theory is correct. OJ’s defense team said that Nicole Brown Simpson was killed potentially by cartel members giving a “Colombian Necktie.” They knew that not to be true, but they threw out all sorts of stuff to create any doubt. It’s entirely plausible that AM shoots Paul goes to grab another weapon, realizes Paul is still alive while he’s about to set the shotgun down and pulls the trigger a second time from a low point that would create the entrance and exit wounds stated in the autopsy. I think it’s actually less likely that two shooters were present and left absolutely zero evidence they were there. Harder to cover tracks of two people vs. one person. Then again, I don’t have 8 hours a day to watch every piece of evidence and testimony, so I could be missing a lot of information.

Reading this thread, you're certainly not the only one.

I think anyone who gets on the stand is supposed to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Yeah, they don’t. Sorry to be the one to let you know. Almost nobody tells the truth and nothing but the truth. They tell the truth as they see it. Our culture has destroyed the meaning of the word truth with things like “my truth” etc…

Very few people I’ve ever met have the ability to be completely honest.

I can’t imagine either, watching that was incredibly painful. Why didn’t they ask John Marvin if he was Alex‘s fixer? He shows up after each of the three murders ”to clean up” or destroy all evidence.

Harpootlian is earning some of his pay this morning. He’s got that law partner rattled on cross. Excellent job of discrediting what this guy said by getting him to loose his cool like that.

On a side note, having watched multiple people from their law firm testify, I think we should open a grand usury investigation into everything that firm has done. None of them seem like they have any character whatsoever.

I totally disagree. In my opinion Crosby showed the jury a level of emotion normal for a man accused of altering his testimony based on money implications. He defended himself with emotion of course, but he stayed focused on the facts. When asked whether he thought AM was guilty of the murders, he didn't take the bait as many of us would have. I think Poot made a huge mistake going after Crosby.

Still think Cousin Eddie was the fall guy. Cousin Eddie wounds Alex and Alex kills Eddie. The story would be Alex owed Eddie more money and Eddie killed his family to pressure Alex. When that failed to motivate Alex, he was going to kill him, but Alex was the "hero" in a gunfight. Just a crazy theory.

did Alex have a gun or fire a gun in the roadside debacle?
