⚖️ MURDAUGH MURDERS & TRIAL THREAD ⚖️

The jury went out of their way to thank Kinsey for his testimony.

they should...they had a difficult decision to make and he made it very detailed yet put it in a way that a person with no experience or knowledge could understand

And brilliant job by prosecution making his testimony the last before closing arguments.

No, he had an IRA that was cashed in and he got $600,000 to use for his defense

His main retirement account through his practice is reported to have 2.5 million in it and has not been touched
I believe the court-appointed receiver is working through the assets and distribution. The attorneys suing AM made that move because AM had started to pay back his relatives for money they'd lent him. That wasn't a fair way to liquidate and pay creditors. Pretty sure that a legal structure is in place to collect and pay outside of AM's clutches.

Some think he squirreled money offshore. If so, hope they find every penny. I think the idiot spent through it with his lifestyle choices and/or something more sinister like an Ozark situation that we have yet to learn about.

This Murdaugh novel is far from being finished. Pretty sure the main thing that is being figured out now is “who’s next”.

Correct as was stated earlier....there is a law firm in charge of his assets and finding them.....Could be wrong but do not think there will be enough to pay all he has done. From what I understand the Satterfield's have received their money

Who’s next or what’s next! Why were Paul and Maggie killed. It wasn’t just because the financial house of cards was coming down. There’s much more to this story.

I’m sure it will unravel more and more. Will be interesting to see how all this unfolds.

It was not covered by homeowners.....he had recently purchased an umbrella policy not too long before Satterfield fell down the steps

Homeowners coverage for accidents on your property is usually for a small amount
Article linked above said homeowners paid $505k and umbrella paid $3.8M to make total $4.3M

For the life of me I cannot get out of my head that Buster knew...somehow he was involved in some way but doubt that can ever be proved.

Also, the Stephen Smith shit...

I am beginning to think that Alex may have killed Stephen Smith, then started the Buster rumor himself. The rumor accomplishes his goal of having LE sweep everything under the rug, without implicating himself.

I wonder if people keep dying because they keep getting too close. How much does buster know, or is he the only one smart enough to not know anything…..

Yes

Murdaugh's current assets:

  • Three bank accounts, containing a total of $10,000 in cash.
  • A retirement account worth somewhere between $2.1 and $2.2 million
  • An IRA retirement fund worth somewhere between $350,000 and $400,000
  • Real estate that Murdaugh has an interest in, along with other individuals, but can’t liquidate without court action, including a hunting club and some “small islands” around Beaufort County. Some of this real estate is owned through LLCs, Lay said.

I think the murder issue is essentially complete unless the state finds that another person helped AM hide the guns and clothes.

Guns are on Moselle somewhere. Onstar says it. Guns are not on the side of the road.
At Moms place? Maybe
Guns are long gone. He dumped them at his parents. My bet is he had his brother pick'm up quietly and dispose of them along with the clothes. The guns will never be found unless some fisherman dredges them up.

I have seen some rumors swirling that he was trafficking and money laundering with
Curtis "Cousin" Eddie Smith... I have wondered if Eddie helped Aleck with the murders, but I assume SLED checked Eddie closely...

What would you do if your brother asked you to help him hide/dispose of two guns and some clothes about the same time his wife and son were murdered?

Did I see somewhere along the line that AM didn't know about the Onstar evidence until the trial started???

Yes. I can’t think of any evidence that it refuted for the State and only incriminated Alex more. At that time it fully validated Alex’s phone data analysis and the caregiver’s testimony of him only being there 20 minutes. Miss Shelley said 20 and was spot on. If the Defense was going to call any of the data into question, that strategy would have ended with the Onstar data.

Wasn’t there OnStar evidence that was talked about many, many pages ago that Alex stopped just short of his Mom’s house after leaving Moselle? I think it said that it was just as you turn onto her driveway. If that information was correct, my guess is he took the guns with him and stopped long enough to dump them in the woods, either for later disposal, or he had something permanent already made there in the woods. Am I remembering that evidence correctly?

No. But he did park away from the house near an outbuilding where he probably did what you mentioned.

Yes he stopped in the driveway for a minute as he was leaving his mom's house. Initially it sounded like a big deal, but on second thought, I don't think it meant anything like that. I know I stop sometimes to take a quick call or answer a text before pulling onto a highway. Alex said he dropped his phone and had to retrieve it. I believe that explanation.

I would not believe a word he said. I bet he lies when he has no reason to.

Depends on whether I liked my brother and hated his wife I guess.

Since God is our Father, I would turn the weapons in if my brother's wife and son had just gotten shot. Justice would then play out and if he's guilty, he hopefully gets closer to repentance and forgiveness while on the earth.

If the guns were BBGuns and the only crimes being investigated were shot up mailboxes, I'd tell him he's on his own and stay out of it.

No doubt the defense just loved getting that info.

@Cris_Ard My first jury trial was in front of Judge Newman. He’s got a special place in my heart.
Thank you for sharing, @Tiger Scientist.

I'm trying to learn more about Judge Newman. I was awfully impressed with him. I hope this trial will bring him additional exposure and a newfound appreciation for his many years of service here in the state of South Carolina.

Friend of mine sent a selfie. Said people were all wanting to take pics with him
Poor fellow. I am sure he doesnt really want all that attention. But he has always been a patient and approachable person. He will be recognized in public for a long time in these parts.

Poot’s criticism of Newman was laughable. Poot is a joke. He was poorly prepared for the trial, relied heavily on Griffin on legal issues, and was really arrogant.

There were a lot of stars in this trial….especially Newman…..Poot wasn’t one of them.
