The attorneys in the legislature are mostly plaintiffs attorneys in civil cases and defense attorneys for criminal cases. There are very few civil defense attorneys in the SC legislature.
Not unusual for many "prominent" people to be land rich and cash poor.
Harpo is a civil and criminal defense attorney no?? Granted he probably only takes on high profile clients for criminal defense but that is a area he practices in.
He is a criminal defense attorney but a plaintiffs' attorney (primarily) on the civil side. So if the State charges you with a crime, he will defend you. And his reputation is as one of the legends of criminal defense in this State.
Are you even the least bit surprised? Most State and Federal legislators are among the slimiest creatures around. SC has some of worst repping us in DC.

I wonder what ole Alex is thinking right now. His family was redneck famous and powerful for a hundred years and its all gone on his watch.
He is a savvy attorney, he has likely muddied the waters big time, a conviction on this will not be easy I would guess.
Not in the law business, but SLED has already said that they need to have enough evidence to standup in a court of law, intend to be very thorough with the investigation, and the public should remain patient.
So how would Eddie be charged with assist and suicide and fraud without a confession from Alex? Not being a smart ass, just can’t wrap my head around that charge.
Alex has already fully confessed to the staged suicide/murder. He still maintains he did not murder his wife and son. The attorney said that they even went to SLED before SLED went to Alex. I suspect that SLED already had evidence, maybe from the church camera, which allowed them to get Eddie first, or let Alex know that the writing was on the wall.

Yeah I didn’t make a good point. I was more so asking how in the world has Alex not been charged with conspiracy and fraud at the minimum?
I’m just kind of surprised a public official would have/want his name attached to this slimeball and his son. After seeing this play out in public, knowing Dick H has been representing the dead son and father throughout the events, will cause to completely tune out anything that man has to say in relation to SC politics. Not that I really paid attention to start, just wild he’d want his name attached to these people now.

What the heck are they gonna be able to find in relation to the actual death. She fell down steps at a private home with only family there half of which is dead. Noe I guess they can investigate the half million payment and what happened to it. Pretty obvious though that it has been spent on drugs and her family never got a dime.

I agree. Whatever evidence there was is long gone. All they can really hope to do at this point is find the money.
They will not find it because am sure it is spent but guess he could be charged for a false insurance claim. Also seems like the money should have been for the woman's family, certainly not for Alex and his family. would have thought it would have been secondary homeowner liability policy to protect homeowner when suit brought by someone injured on the property. Do not see how Alex could file a claim for his family.
