Chance of another mandatory lockdown in SC at 100%???

I wish they’d stop reporting the numbers and report the facts of the situation. The news has become nothing more than an avenue to scare and manipulate the public. Person I know right now and have been around and exposed me (i am good) has underlying conditions and is perfect candidate for this to take out and guess what? He had one bad day and all he did was sleep. Diabetes, has had a stroke in his 40s, and nothing...

And this is just one I could share. A hospice of mine had a patient go to hospital with Covid and was released and is now still dying but not of Covid

Dude, what is wrong with you? You do realize you can be a republican and also wear a mask right? I’m living proof.

Not wearing a mask just screams “I’m a fvcking idiot!” IMO

it is not often at all I’ll go out in public where I need to wear one. Most of the time when I’m out I play golf. Should I wear one of the golf course? No. Should I wear one inside of a restaurant? Hell no. I go to the grocery store probably once a week or every couple weeks. I keep my distance. I will continue doing the same thing.

No, my point was simply an observation. I will not wear a mask no matter who wears one, I promise you that.
Yeah that’s not a simple observation. You see the world through a political lens where you put everyone into a specific group. When your dear leader signaled that you shouldn’t wear a mask you divided up the world into those who wear masks as liberals and hippies and those without masks as conservatives.

I stopped watching the news. I am not on social media. It does wonders for you mentally.

same I tore down my damn 2000 square feet deck that was nailed and never meant to be destroyed (props to who ever built it), brought in a 6 ton dump trailer of fill dirt, spread and formed a concrete pad, now staining wood and putting up an 18x24 pergola this weekend. All just to ignore the crazy...When this is done I don’t know what I’ll do.

Hell I’ve really even avoided this place

Man, I just had dinner in Seaside, Florida. Hundreds and hundreds of people from all over walking around. Half the crowd have to be Democrats given the population. The only masks I’ve seen are worn by employees of the restaurants.

Democrats nor Republicans want to wear them while out and about.

But keep on virtue signaling.

This kind of cracks me up. The problem with corona is the length of exposure, not the exposure itself. You’re more likely to get it at the restaurant than you are the grocery store because of the prolonged amount of time you’d be sitting there.

you want “them” to stop reporting the numbers and just report the “facts”, and in this case the facts are just your anecodotal stories of a couple of people you know?

Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

You just made my point. I was criticizing him for viewing people with masks on as liberals and those without masks as conservatives. Thanks for backing me up with evidence.

well, so far there haven’t been people re-infected. So yes, assuming that is case. As well as going off historical actions of the other novel viruses throughout history.

That is why (history) I say a vaccine wont come soon, if at all

There HAVE been reports of reinfection. They may Be mistaken as they could also be cases where the infection was never over. That is why I stated there is no proof. Based on most of the other similar viruses, the ‘cure’ is to reduce the exposure and let it die out through attrition. That would require wearing masks, tracing and isolating the infected and patience. This approach has been shown to work. Our approach of just pretending It’s no big deal has been shown to lead to increases. I would rather just do whatever is necessary to get rid of this quickly rather than worry about short term comfort or making a political statement.

Of course you shouldn’t wear one at the golf course, dude. This is common sense.

However, I’m not sure how the fact that you only go to the grocery store once a week precludes you from needing to wear a mask. Everyone should be wearing masks indoors in public 100% of the time, except while eating at a restaurant. It’s pretty simple.

Who funds the CDC? Donations from pharmaceutical and vaccine companies. They fire people for not pushing through drugs/vaccines and not a single vaccine is proven through scientifically relevant research.

I’ll be damned if someone is injecting me with a rushed vaccine that isn’t properly being vetted and failing all human trials so far
The CDC is funded primarily from congressional appropriations. It is a public, not private, entity.

There’s no scientific evidence that masks are beneficial. There’s actually more evidence that they’re harmful or useless..

masks aren’t your answer.

Study 1: Researchers in TX & CA
"Wearing of face masks in public corresponds to the most effective means to prevent interhuman transmission"
Study 2: Researchers in Hong Kong
“The findings implied to the world and the public is that the effectiveness of mask-wearing against the coronavirus pandemic is huge,”

Study 3: Cambridge & Greenwich Universities
"Our analyses support the immediate and universal adoption of face masks by the public,"
Study 4: Four US Universities
“Our analysis reveals that the difference with and without mandated face covering represents the determinant in shaping the trends of the pandemic,”
Study 5: International Experts
"Universal masking at 80 [percent] adoption flattens the curve significantly more than maintaining a strict lockdown,"

Official CDC Recommendation:
"CDC recommends that everyone wear cloth face coverings when leaving
their homes, regardless of whether they have fever or symptoms of COVID-19. This is
because of evidence that people with COVID-19 can spread the disease, even when they
don’t have any symptoms."

The WHO officially recommends wearing a mask.

One reason the cases are being controlled in a densely populated region like Washington, DC, where I live is that people wear masks. I can’t enter a 7-11 without one let alone a grocery store. One reason Covid is becoming a bigger problem in rural areas is the population’s reluctance to wear masks.

Would you go to a grocery store without a shirt and without shoes? I hope not. So why not wear a mask with a highly contagious disease in our midst?

Quit thinking of yourself and think of others.

I agree Chris, but the problem is people do not take it serious. 3 SC cities in the top 15 on percentage of new cases with MB at 3rd in the US. No one wearing masks.

SC needs a wake up call or we are going to blow this thing
Nobody takes it serious because they don’t think it’s going to kill them.

Mb doesn’t count. There are only 9 people in mb that live there. Rest are yankees

I've been lurking but every thread going political is nauseating. So I've kept my (social) distance.

I think some of it is also due to large populated areas with people traveling in from Europe and such were hit earlier than your rural spots. Certain counties in SC had like 0 cases for weeks.

I think certain areas were/are lagging behind. But I agree that your low socio-economic group either do not wear masks or wear them incorrectly. (Based on very scientific evidence when comparing the crowd at Publix vs the crowd at the QT on the other end of town)

I am absolutely stunned at the number of people who scoff at wearing a mask. Of course, when you have a president who says that those who wear masks are doing so only to display political opposition to him , then what do you expect ?

This is the correct approach. And Trump will lead this charge and then lose the election because there is a large portion of the population that doesnt understand.
Trump will lose the election because he has no leadership skills. Once you get beyond his smart alec comments, there is little substance there. The pandemic crisis has shown that much. It is a shame it took such a massive crisis to reveal this so clearly, but that is what it takes sometimes.

I mean, its OK to have different opinions about what football team you like or whether mayonnaise is good, but these are matters with enormous ramifications both in terms of lives and the economy. The right answer matters.
Actually, the 'right' answer might matter.
As in, there is NO right answer. None.
Opinions.
Options.
Even if man-made (seems to be much smoke there) will a 'virus' ever go away?
Do the Flu shots (vaccines) do much good. Lots of leeway therein.

"The right answer matters."

Call me first when you get it.
I'll pass it along to the proper authorities.

I disagree. And think your user name checks out.

Noted.

Great. Just got in the door from Calabash, NC. Went to Ella's this evening. My wife and son were on the beach yesterday and it was packed. They're going to be back on the beach sometime Sunday.

There are risks, to be sure. I'm merely saying the risks are greater if we undergo a second economic stoppage or a prolonged economic stoppage.
Last time at Ella's, I asked for some Sherry for my She Crap Soup.
They looked at me like I was crazy............ used some wine my wife was drinking and sugar.
No Sherry?
Thoughts?

I’m in the camp that thinks this virus is not a big deal to the vast majority of the population, but I simply can’t fathom the stupidity of so many refusing to wear masks. Never mind that we could pretty much eradicate this thing by doing something so simple......goodness the stupidity...

Really, we are going to eradicate Covid by simply wearing a mask? Maybe slow it down to be a prolonged problem or problem later, sure. Eradicate...not buying it. I have yet to hear if we can just make to X time that we will have gotten rid of the virus. Simply put it is a fools errand to believe people are going to consistently and properly wear masks and this is going to disappear.

Which is easier to control from a healthcare standpoint - a huge spike or a gradually increasing infection rate?

As a staunch supporter of pro-life and the All Lives Matter movement, the old people in this country just have to take one for the team here
Maybe you wont live long enough to be deemed old...Im thinking we need to cull most of the stupid younger folks to save the country

You think they are reporting this shit accurately and call me stupid? That’s cute...

They make it seem that if there is a new “positive” there is death imminent. This thing is not near as deadly as what they predicted which I’ve said since February when I started researching and taking part in calls. The media scare tactic continues.

I for one am not scared to get it. Am I scared for the elderly or people with underlying conditions to get it? Absolutely. @tigertommy1 has killed it in this thread.

Amazes me people would rather watch small business’ and the economy crumble while living scared than just get back to life and see what happens. Guess what...if doctors have no clue how to heal, no vaccines near, etc. then you are essentially agreeing to letting the government control every aspect of your life of you agree to quarantine and mandatory mask wearing. What’s next? They gonna make everyone wear red, white, and blue uniforms.

It’s a virus that the numbers would not be nearly as high if people were not required by their jobs, government officials, etc to be tested. Then force them to continue to get tested until 2 positives before returning to work.

But yeah...numbers are so accurate and this is being reported accurately. Is it contagious? Yes! Can it kill you or me? Yes! Is it as bad as they want you to believe? Fvck No

Didn't we already flatten the curve so the system would have time to prepare to handle the sick? If we are going to rip the band-aid off do it during the summer months. IMO. BTW when testing goes up, then you are going to see a spike.

BTW, I am not suggesting for people that know they are sick to not quarantine. Or for those at risk to be out. If you are at risk you should take precautions like not being out whether people wear masks or not. Also, probably not a bad idea for everyone to take Vitamin D.

I had Covid-19...I survived. 99.9% of the rest of the population will too. It sucks but sickness is part of life. Nothing needs to shut down anymore. Push through.
How old are you ? Any underlying conditions ? How bad did you feel?
