CVS announces up to 900 stores will shutter permanently by 2024

CVS is set to close hundreds of stores across the country - as more stores move towards online sellers amid increases in crime .

These retailers are struggling and have been struggling since 2020 and are largely using theft as an excuse to close stores and lay off workers.

I am sure the need to place most all items into glass cases to prevent thief has nothing to do with sales . Don't blame them going to online sales .

Some of those policymakers, including both Republican and Democratic leaders, have pointed to crime as a chief reason for the closures, following videos of brazen shoplifting incidents.

“We’re losing chain stores that are closing down. People who are being employed in those stores are losing their jobs” because of crime, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, said in February.

I do some work with CVS Health (the stores are just one part of the business, btw). They laid off 5,000 people earlier this year. Karen Lynch has some work to do to modernize their model for the current reality. This is all part of that.

I never thought I'd see the day when a politician took a strong anti crime stance in America. This has got to be the first.

Is it possible that it could be more than one thing driving CVS store closures?

I am amazed at what a limited, black-and-white view people have of the world.

Is there only one reason that clemson is 2-2 right now? Of course not.
