I’m with you, but the federal rate is the issue. Top combined rate in SC is 44% and Biden would make it 47%. Plus SS, Medicare, additional surcharges for the high earners, etc. CA is only marginally worse than deep red SC. Though I imagine local taxes extend the spread from SC.

I agree that it was a huge blunder by Biden to not embrace Elon. It was a layup. Support American made technology and American made products. Instead Biden tried to protect the legacy auto-industry which will delay the inevitable. The legacy auto-makers are stuck with high labor costs and will not be able to compete with the coming electric car revolution. This is why Tesla is the only company that can make an EV at a profit right now.
Shame on Biden. He should have been showcasing American ingenuity and technology and encouraging competition. Instead he tried to defend his "cronies" and it is really backfiring.
