You and I are largely on the same page here; but to be fair, what we first see in the pic is not actually the bullet, but the shockwave of the bullet as it tears through the air at supersonic speed. Shrapnel from a bullet would almost certainly not be traveling at supersonic speed and would be much harder to spot. Also, that particular bullet almost certainly did not strike an object with sufficient mass to produce a shrapnel spray capable of penetrating flesh. Given the nature of a typical 5.56 round...which is again, typically a full-metal jacket projectile with a pointed tip that widens to its full dimensions before tapering slightly into what is referred to as a "boat tail" shape. Hence, the round is generally referred to as FMJBT, for full-metal jacket, boat tail. Why is all this technical mumbo-jumbo important? Because 5.56 FMJBT rounds do not fly in a tight spiral. They wobble. This is what allows a comparatively smaller round to strike with the force of a larger round. As a result, when a 5.56 FMJBT strikes an object with even nominal mass, the round tumbles. Had the round in that photo struck something with sufficient mass, it would 1) likely no longer be supersonic--and therefore not produce the observed shockwave, and 2) would no longer be exhibiting its characteristic wobbling spiral flight path as we see in the pic.
fair...just have no heard of what type of fragments or shrapnel they found but again...I am personally just glad he is alive. As I would be if it was a candidate from the left.
It does amaze me that the focus is on the shooter, how he got there, and all the things SS failed at and not so much focus on the fun.
This is mostly fair too. But I'm not hearing from anyone that he was NOT struck by a bullet, just that there is some question as to whether or not he was struck by a bullet.
I’m curious, just in your opinion, that if his ear was struck by a fragment of the bullet after a ricocheted or a fragment of metal bleacher after the bullet ricocheted… what does that mean? Just in your opinion

Yeah but not for democracy. Presidents get shot at. Sometimes they get hit.
These guys weren’t fighting in WW2 protecting our country or in battle like Washington.
They got shot giving a speech/parading around. One got hit. One didn’t. Just random luck.
Getting hit in the head, shoulder, ear, etc doesn’t make you cooler. Had Trump died, he’d have still been a jackass. I just don’t get the argument.

I’m mostly messing with you. You and probably disagree on a good bit. But I should respect your right to your point of view. Sometimes I fail at that. Anyway, it’s good to back and forth a little bit. I think we all want Clemson and America to do well. So we got that in common. We just look at things differently I suppose.
As always, I'm saying if Trump is going to go around saying he took a bullet for democracy as part of his campaign, it needs to be true. I've been consistent about that the entire time.
I think you might just have to accept we don't see eye to eye on this.
I kind of view 'taking a bullet' as intentionally putting yourself in harms way to protect someone or something... There are dangers with running for president, or speaking in a big crowd, etc... But I don't view the scenario of a candidate being shot by a lunatic assassin as 'taking a bullet for...'
The USSS agents that jumped in front of him would have been taking a bullet for democracy if they were shot.

I think Trump saying that is false no matter the circumstance. I think that is where we differ.
They do accept a heck of a lot of risk though, and perhaps even more so in a lot of cases. One might also argue that continuing to go out on the campaign trail is more "heroic" (brave?) still now that the USSS has shown themselves to be incapable of stopping even a rather obvious and amateurish assassination attempt from a 20 year old.
Could it be that, like you assert, he is invested in the truth?
Also, its wild how narratives shift in politics. "Doc Ronny" was also Obama's physician, but apparently became persona non grata for being too chummy with Trump....or maybe he was a quack and a jerk that slipped through the cracks and the Top-Secret Single Scope background investigation with "Yankee-White" enhanced screening for being in close proximity to previous two Presidents while also ascending to the rank of Rear Admiraal (was it RADM, aka two-star Admiral; or RDML, aka one-star Admiral?)

Not really making a declaration either way on him, but I think we all have people we know in our own personal orbit that have seemingly been radicalized, often over a short period of time. And I don't think anyone would've expected Rudy G's trajectory either, for someone in the public sphere.
He retired as a Rear Admiral in 2019. He was administratively demoted to Captain (O-6) by SECNAV* in 2021. Therefore, he was most certainly NOT dishonorably discharged. The whole 'administrative' demotion thing is quite perplexing. Generally, one is not demoted without a trial. Also, one typically retires at the highest rank held. So his retired pay and benefits may well still be that of a Rear Admiral.
* Secretary of the Navy is political appointment.

Well there you go. Truth. I was wrong. I knew he was totally disgraced but I had my facts wrong.
Maybe I came off as nitpicking., but as one who served for over 24 years, a dishonorable discharge is a huge distinction from a one-grade demotion. And this was an administrative demotion done apparently at sole discretion of the Secretary of the Navy, a political appointee; and apparently this was done without a trial. If this does not reek of politics, then you either have a cold or are just used to the smell.
Agree 100%. In 1992 the first bush stopped in my home town while taking a train ride through Georgia. He came out and spoke to the crowd from the back of the train. My wife and her mother went. They were standing there waiting for president Bush to arrive and a man standing next to them had come while out for lunch. He took out a banana from his brown paper bag lunch and was going to eat it. Secret service came out and took the banana and his lunch. Yet this man was allowed to fly a drone and use a range finder and no one did anything. Each Additional information I get makes it sketchier and sketchier. I want to know who gave the ok for Trump to go on stage and where did he get his orders to allow him too. Too much incompetence and lack of planning and resources.

Never banned Muslims. He did ban temporarily travel from a handful of countries with high terroristic event rates with Muslim folk never specified. You are completely wrong. Muslims from nearly all countries were free to travel to the US under Trump.
Never wanted to pull out of NATO. He made a joking remark that the US ought to pull out if European countries did not start to pair their share of the budget which they had not for decades. MSNBC and CNN misinterpreted the joke and imbecile viewers drink the Kool Aid. Guess what? Under Trump, they did pay up. Guess what else? Under the weak leadership of Biden, they quit paying again so that the burden of defending the West falls largely on US taxpayers.
Roe vs Wade was a wrong verdict to start with according to many constitutional scholars by an activist Supreme Court. This should always have been a state issue and now once again is.

I have read the thread... And you implied that Trump was somehow embellishing the fact that he had been shot... Whether it was a bullet or a fragment will never be known, but he had a piece of his ear obliterated and that fact is irrefutable... It's a fvcking miracle he is alive...

Irrefutable? Why don't you check out any of the pictures of his ear from the meeting with Bibi that are circulating, where you can clearly see his ear is not only not obliterated, but entirely intact, and get back to me on the Irrefutable thing?
Besides, the Trump appointed director of the FBI also has questions about it. I'm very comfortable with my position on this matter.
