Heroism by Nashville Police: Video Posted

Amazing work...wish we could find a happy medium. These schools being gun free zones with no police on site makes them easy targets. But the funding is not there for them to be there

I guess private schools have the funds to make it happen and honestly seeing some of these news schools being built and the athletic facilities, they could probably lighten up on those budgets and protect the schools with armed officers or retired military.

It is sad that it has moved down to elementary level students but gun free zones are almost always the zones attacked. But man...what an impressive ass response and handling of this situation by police

This reminds me of something I've seen that, quite frankly, pisses me off.

When I see police commended for how they handled this, there is a not-insignificant-number who say "well that's their job" - as if to not even acknowledge a job well done.

And yet people were lauding nurses and doctors for 'bravely fighting a virus' with a 99.3% (I think) survival rate.

This isn't about those doctors and nurses - they should be commended and I know it was tough. But if we commend them for bravery for doing what they are paid to do, how can we not give cops the same treatment?

Sorry, just needed to get that out.

Lessons learned from the incident in TX...armed authorities can't wait
Methinks that they didn't need the Texas incident to know that you have to go into attack mode...

We don't need our schools looking like prisons or fortresses either. That said - I would 'harden' all of the entrance points to the school (bullet resistant glass, double locks, etc). Make the shooter take extra time to get in, and where they at least have to make their intentions obvious...

funny you say this, my oldest son just said that one of his teachers said the reason they look like prisons is because they use same architects and basic prison plans and alter them to make them schools. Have not researched but it makes sense

I was referring to having armed guards, towers, constantino (sp?) wire, etc.

But that is interesting....

gotcha and agree with you...

not sure what the right answer is but gun free zones with easy entrance is definitely not the answer. The response time by these officers was absolutely amazing and still 6 dead

The Colorado Springs shooter identified as non binary.

The Denver shooter identified as trans.

The Aberdeen shooter identified as trans.

The Nashville shooter identified as trans.

One thing is VERY clear: the modern trans movement is radicalizing activists into terrorists.

I hope the libs are happy with themselves for promoting this mental illness nonstop. There is nothing right about it.

Short term I would have something more than a handgun available to on-site officers. The Israelis had something a few years ago that looked like a box but unfolded into a SMG. Something like that maybe as a short-term solution. Or an AR locked up somewhere.

This is terrifying to me as I have one in HS and one in Middle School. All of the public schools in my county have police on duty full time at each school so that is hopefully a deterrent here.

Every year at the end of the school year I give the police at my kids school $100 bill in a thank you note. It’s not enough, but I do truly appreciate them.

In the big omnibus bill passed at the end of last year, Congress funded 87,000 new/additional IRS agents. With the same funds, you could put full-time police officers in every school(public and private). Shows what the government cares about, and it ain't safety for it's citizens.

watching the POTUS press conference on this yesterday he cares about ice cream and Ben...

that is pretty much all he mentions other than an assault weapon ban for the first 10 minutes

And I am still yet for them to give an actual definition of an assault weapon. I can assault someone with a fvcking fork, knife, baseball bat, fist, boot kick, etc...

They just started this term with no definition of what it is. If the school even had bullet proof glass, as you see in above video, she would not have gotten her "assault weapons" in

The beginning of Biden’s meeting yesterday was surreal. I can dig that he not come out all long faced and gloomy for the sock puppet audience he had there, but goodness what a sour note that was.

I got emotional watching it. Thinking of the children and families impacted breaks your heart

There is no hood that comes from this but I’m glad she kind of wandered around. 6 deaths is 6 too many but at least she didn’t find victims quicker

People say it’s a Gun problem, I say it’s a parenting problem. This county has been so pussified that being your kids friend and not hurting their feelings is praised.

We need better parenting and it will stop some of this madness.

I don't really get the back and forth from republicans and democrats on all of this. Each side digs their heels in the sand on what they think is right. Why can't we make it harder for lunatics to get guns and harden off our schools for the ones that still get them? 3 out of 4 Americans want tougher gun laws. I own many guns including an AR and I want to make it harder to get them. I also want my children's school to be much more difficult to get into in an instance like this. I'm not saying anything will solve all of the problems, but it needs to be approached from all angles quickly.

The shooter used a Kel Tec Sub 2000, wasn’t even an AR-15. She was neutralized by an AR-15, however.

Tragic all the way around.

I agree with you in principal so dont really mean to argue - except the funding part.
Working on a "pack" of schools in NC right now. There is a $7MM solar and battery storage system in the design, that will never recoup costs but it drives their LEED score up.

The architectural lighting package was just north of $3MM. When the job was over budget a functionally equal package was proposed that would have saved 1.2MM. Instead they went back and got the budget raised.

That's just a single obivous example in the electrical scope. Im sure similar attrocities in the plumbing and mechanical scope exist where an architect turned a public school into his wet dream. We could build just as functional schools - maybe safer with BP glass etc - save the cash and use it to hire secruity

Biden called it a AK 47.....lol

Biden did not know where he was. He was just there for the ice cream and to get clarification from some dude named Ben who is an outstanding American.

I wish I knew who the reporter was that shut him up and said that she thought they were there for a statement on the shooting. He looked dumbfounded....he wanted to talk ice cream with the kids and how much he had upstairs. Was so freaking weird

Imagine if Trump would have lead off a mass shooting presser like that. It's all we would be hearing about today. Biden...all videos have it cut out. Have to dig for it

And not just 1 AK47....but 2

I agree with everything you've typed...lower budgets on unnecessary shit and add it in for things to protect the kids

The statement in bold made me laugh, classic MO of architects everywhere
