Mass Shooting at Columbiana Mall

How there were no causalities is beyond me. Sounds like a dispute and innocent people were bystanders that were hit. Not gonna lie but when I see what teachers have to put up with in school today it is not a surprise that we see people not respect life in general. This is not political nor religious. Neither of those things make you a person that respects right and wrong. It is sad that at 44 years old I can go on the SCDC inmate search and search random people I went to school with and find several serving time. If you have a dispute and need to settle it go fight. off away from everyone. Beat the hell out of each other. But damn. STOP putting innocent good people at risk

We have a massive mental health crisis in our country. And our political discourse and culture in general are just feeding it daily. We have to turn things around. First step is realizing we are sick and our media is one of the major culprits on so many levels. The biggest however is the disintegration of the family.
Hope we can fix it.

NYC has the most stringent gun laws in the US if not the world. What has that done for them? Gun laws restrict the law abiding citizens and no one else. Gun control calls just buys votes for some politicians not for the law abiding.

A pharmacist in CA developed a new recipe for meth that allowed it to be mass produced and made out of everyday type chemicals and not just ephedrine or pseuadoephedrine. This allowed the cartels to mass produce meth and make it even cheaper than home production. The cartels import fentanyl from China and repackage it for the US. The cartels are a problem and that is why every border state, other than CA, are so worried about illegal immigration.
I’d look at per capita gun death data before you make that argument. I think you’ll find evidence supporting the opposite. Not making a political argument either way, but do think the truth is important.

This kind of unfounded arrogance isn't helpful to anyone. You don't know how it works any more than a Muslim, Buddhist, Jew, etc. That's just a fact.

Be wary of those who claim to know the unknowable. Lots of people walked around telling others that Zeus was going to hit them with a thunderbolt back in the day.

I know The Bible is the Word of God. It says:

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

I didn't write it so it isn't my arrogance. I simply quote what His Word says. If you want to call God arrogant then you go right ahead.

Look at it this way... If my belief in God is wrong then when I die nothing will happen. But if you're wrong...well... Good luck.

Again...why is The Bible the word of God instead of The Talmud/Qur'an/Tipitaka/Rigveda/Samaveda/Yajurveda/Athraveda?

Are you familiar with who actually wrote and edited The Bible and those additional texts?

The Bible says a lot of things I hope you don't take as literal gospel...

You do you man. I am not even going to bother getting into this with you. I am quite comfortable with what I know. Happy Easter!

Well, extending the COMET (Columbia's bus system) to the mall was no stroke of genius.
Funny you mention that, we just had a local shopping area (Hartwell Village) forbid the CAT bus from stopping on their property. Claim was it brought nothing but problems. Same property had the second most dispatch calls in all of Oconee County.

Yet another mass shooting. One side will blame mental illness. One side will blame guns. Both are right, but neither will do anything to fix it, just argue.

It is entirely reasonable to be in favor of additional gun laws. I don't agree but it's not an unreasonable position. However, the inability to recognize and admit that shooting guns into crowds of innocent people is absolutely mental illness is a baseless argument. What would you like to do? I have lots of ideas but none of them would be implemented because of resistance from half the population. Therein lies the issue.

Sad. Same thing happened two weeks ago in downtown Sacramento…one block from my office. 2 am Disagreement, spray of bullets…6 dead, 12 more shot.
Sitting in Portland airport right now, having toured UW and Oregon this week with our HS junior son. Would much rather have him in a setting like Eugene, than Portland or Seattle. Not that rural areas are free of crime, but most major metro areas are sh-holes.

Plenty of people believe in “God”. Not all believe your version of a supreme being.

So when you die, Allah (if he is real), for example, wouldn’t be so kind to you.

Maybe try some humility and grace when trying to proselytize others.

Allah is God in Arabic. So if you believe in God then you believe in Allah.

There’s one major difference in the God of the Bible and all these other religions and gods. The God of the Bible came in human form named Jesus. And whether you believe in Him or not, the whole world is set on time according to His arrival. Call it BCE/CE or BC/AD, time revolves around Him! It’s really pretty simple unless you’re just too interested in thinking you’re wiser/smarter than Him. We’ve got major problems with values in this nation, and those have been in rapid decline for the last 6 decades or so. Including the value of life, which results in tragedies like today.

THIS

Of course it’s not the gun. But move to most other countries and try to buy anything but a shotgun. Ease of purchase has to have something to do with all the dickheads having guns in addition to us good guys.
However nobody alive in the US today need worry. They are out there and will be for at least a couple hundred years regardless of laws.
Come, on? Those "dickheads" don't buy their guns at Academy Sports, they buy them off other gang-bangers in the hood.

I just wish the courts would use the gun laws on record to the full extent. More laws can be passed but if the courts are not going to prosecute the law breakers what good would new laws do? As an owner of many guns I enjoy that right but people that break the laws on record should be harshly punished
Some people are just thugs with no care about consequences. Wrt todays incident, these perps should have been locked up and not on the streets (willing to bet they had violent misdemeanors or felonies prior to today).

If thats the life they choose, they’re a menace to society and need to be kept off the street. Offer a rehab program for those that want it. Free up space by legalizing marijuana. Give the incarcerated a way to have fresh start if they’ve reformed their life.
For mass shootings…heres a solution:
Basically, you see someone that displays typical mass shooter tendencies and send police evidence. They determine if it’s enough to go in front of judge. Judge makes a decision on where or not to take their guns that same day. In the meantime, the defendant can appeal and show that he’s mentally stable

you can’t really believe something if you don’t 100% believe it… it’s all or nothing… you can’t believe Jesus at all if you can’t believe he is the only way… same goes for Muslims and Allah… they can’t really believe if they believe there are other paths… true religion is mutually exclusive of other religions. your request is asking people to be hypocritical of their own beliefs and is disrespectful

Well that goes without saying. I have not been to a mall in probably 15 years or so, although I would like to stroll Dutch Square and remember the good ole days.
I just think a metal detector would help. It's a shame, but is what it is.
Prayers to all!
Trust me...you don't want to stroll Dutch Square

Laws apply to law abiding citizens, not criminals. Guns don’t shoot people; people shoot people

True. They came from somewhere, though. It’s the secondary sales that get them in the wrong hands, maybe. I just can’t think of a way to control it.

I think we should give mandatory shooting lessons. That way when these gang shootings happen they can actually hit their targets. More dead thugs and less innocent casualties. Win/win.

If there is a sole Creator of the multiverse I'm pretty comfortable asserting he's way smarter than I am. This rather obvious concession does nothing to elevate your particular vision of God over anyone else's or provide you with the ability to know the unknowable. Had you been born in a different part of the world, you'd most likely fervently believe in that region's version of God.

I have no issue whatsoever with people choosing to have faith in their belief systems until they start pontificating as if their beliefs are uniquely unassailable relative to anyone else. The simple truth is none of us knows and ever will know until we take our final breath. For all we know future humans will look back on us and laugh at the notion of burning bushes and reanimated saviors and pillars of salt the same way we wonder how anyone could ever have bought into the notion of the Greek gods and their ludicrous stories.

It’s amazing how Ard comes on his own board and makes a seemingly simple request of the guests, yet so many just can’t stop themselves from violating his wishes. You can see clearly who they are, and so can judge their character.

Why has that property had so many dispatch calls? Is it to that apartment complex, Newspring, Five Guys, Popeyes, Old Navy, or Hobby Lobby?

“True religion”?

I’m asking people to realize that any belief regarding what happens after death is purely based on that sole person’s belief. I’m asking for the people that are judgmental based on their pyrrhic beliefs to not be so.

There is not a gun problem in this country; there is a people/upbringing problem in this country. You can impose every gun law you can think of, but it’ll never prevent a criminal from getting a gun and doing whatever they want to do.
This 1000%. A bigger pandemic in this country than "gun violence" is overdoses. And there are endless laws against drug use/distribution. It's sad but laws are no different than records, they're made to be broken in this society.

I won’t deny the complexity of believing in the God of the Bible. But, whatever religion evolves into, as you pontificate, they’ll still be measuring time by the arrival of the one and only savior - Jesus Christ. He’s really undeniable if you’re willing to give up the right to be “right.” It’s not my opinion that matters. It’s the Faith and the facts of Jesus, that have been under attack since Bethlehem. As strange as it may seem, He just won’t go away!

....family based upon historically being based upon God.

I know, I know...
You can insert Masons and pooh-pooh the mores the Bible teaches into the formation of our once Great country.
But you cannot insert the idiocy of sex change or LACK of sex identification, nor rampant divorce nor the choice of aborting Millions of babies and then claim we, as humanity, are better off.

And, you can claim 'freedom' from all of that is refreshing.......

Has society REFRESHED itself towards positive humanity interaction since we cast those
EVIL 10 Commandments out of everywhere?

Not a Bible thumper here.

But, seriously, HOW do you reclaim the 'family' without a Mom AND a Dad....of different sexuality, man & woman, copulating and raising children together?

Serious question.

Our society wants to pass another law to make humanity better.... good luck.

I hope they catch that evil gun which is running around killing people.
That gun is misguided......needs a therapist.......just made a mistake.
Probably came from a broken family with horrible child abuse.

Mr Graham,
God is certainly one way. But there are other ways to positively serve humanity in wonderful ways.

Instead of drawing a line in the sand that God is the only way. Recognize there are other ways that deliver upon good promise.
no
there is only one way

every other way has been tried

would love to talk with you and discuss all of this

it's pretty easy to understand, really
