BTW, I've been doing some real world, feet on the street, research into the election winner this week. Serious first hand research.

I'm working through a couple of real estate investment transaction by year-end. I've had calls/meetings with my real estate attorney, tax attorney and CPA so far to evaluate a drop and swap 1031 vs just eating the 20% cap gains this year. The concern is uncle Joe forcing me to pay unAmerican marginal ordinary income tax rates on these gains once he's able to implement his tax policy. Maybe it's better to just pay the man now.

If I 1031, I just postpone the eventual tax. When I transact again, I will have to pay the gains on this 2020 FY transaction. If I pay today, it's 20%. If uncle Joe get's his way, it will be 39.6%.

You're comparing elected officials who have policy positions you don't agree with to people who straight up are espousing conspiracy theories with no basis in reality. "The Squad" does have some extreme (relative to the US) policy positions but that's NOT the same as believing that the Democratic party is an international cabal of pedophiles.

If he loses fairly without suspicious ballot activity, he will move on just like presidents before him. I would suggest that a BS impeachment and trying to railroad/smear a supreme court justice are far more damaging to our political system than anything Trump is doing.

He has personally contacted governors and representatives in various states and pressured them to throw out votes.

So again, gonna have to really challenge the idea that me suggesting this President might attempt to subvert the democratic process is an example of me living in my own reality.

@dbjork6317, I didn't catch this thread back in the beginning of last month, but just wanted to say that I did read the whole thing, it was very objective and therefore very accurate (as we've seen). Appreciate your thoughts and presentation of the data. Goes to show that when we take out the subjectivity of our own views there are some realistic observations to be made.

It seems like the thread (prob inevitably) has descended into some angry, opposing views, but again appreciate the commentary.

No I’m gonna continue to hammer this point home. That my concerns over the President were not unfounded, that I’m not living in my own reality, and that the Trump Presidency has been a net negative for the country and will continue to have far reaching negative consequences for our culture as it encourages the embracing of conspiracies and untruths and tacitly - if not directly - promotes lawlessness and violence.

Tomorrow’s protests in DC, along with a dozen senators who will challenge the election results, will likely stand out as further evidence of this.

This morning the President announced to supporters that he would “never concede” and those supporters are now storming the capitol building in what is tantamount to an attempt at a coup.

What an embarrassingly awful day this is for our country. Trump’s legacy will be his attempt to kill off the tradition of a peaceful transfer of power in the US.
