It’s an absurd concept, but I think it happens during my lifetime, or the next 30 years. All empires collapse and so will the United States at some point, it’s just a matter of when. We are on that path and if there is anything I have learned since Covid, it’s that things can change fast.
Corruption will tear a country up and spit it out.
Our government has turned into a fight over control as you suggest, instead of serving as the outline for Freedom. Freedom is what America was founded upon. This is why I think our country fails in the next 30 years. The corruption runs deep on both sides no doubt, but the justice system is only after one side. One sided justice systems don’t survive.
None of that happens in a National divorce. Divorce doesn’t mean you kill your spouse, you just go your separate ways.
Europe has freedom of movement, capital and material and people.
You would still have trade deals with other countries. It’s not like you are isolated and put yourself on an island.
Probably some short term pain for long term gain. But isn’t that what divorce is all about?

But just for the record, I've said many times on here that two of my best friends are conservative and we get along great. Granted they aren't as radical and insipid as many of the posters here so even though we argue at times , we just find it best not to talk about politics if possible. They voted for Trump but do not believe the election was stolen or any of the other conspiracies swirling around this board constantly, so we can have rational conversations. You don't see many rational actors on the Right on this board so I will respond accordingly. Call me names all you want but I will not let this all the disinformation spewed here go unchallenged.

What would really be interesting is IF something like this happens, actually dividing up... So just for fun, let's pick a purple state like Ga. I imagine that a few of you guys live there. So what happens if YOUR side loses that state (either it goes Dem or Rep). How many of you are ready to lose your homes and move to a state that shares your values? You gonna go along with that? I suspect that it starts being real for a lot of people when it starts being you.

What we see in this thread isn't about politics in the sense of socialist, conservative, democrat, republican, etc. What we see is a sad display of confirmation bias, distortion of reality and the complete misrepresentation of facts in order to fit desired narratives. In short, it's just a lot of lies and that's what's so dangerous. We see it all around us. I am under no illusion about it being on one side and not the other. It's everywhere. It's alarming what we see going on but altogether unsurprising because of the tone of our political discourse these days. It will be our undoing.
I'm in blue Atlanta, which makes up 56% of the state's population and I promise you I'm not going anywhere. It's just a short hop from her district to MAGAbama, which is where we will export her to.

No it doesn’t, it makes it even worse. Why was it not prosecuted during the original 3 year period? The video was known about during that time. Makes my point, he got special treatment. He is above the law.
