OT: trump verdict reached nm

The idea that states don’t have ability to restrict rights protected by the Constitution? The Supreme Court hasn't extended that protection to abortion, so that’s the legal position we have. It doesn’t free Trump from the obligation of having to defend that position, and I don’t think the evangelical crowd has done him many favors in that regard.

States didn’t have the ability to enforce segregation. And it didn’t get fixed until the federal government fixed it.
If you look at historic polls, the country has actually shifted a lot more towards pro life than pro choice the last 25 years. I get it's a big issue for many, I just think the states should decide their abortion laws vs widespread federal ruling.

Idk. If you have another source, I'm genuinely open. I think these types of results are going to depend heavily on how the question is asked. If you ask, "should abortion be legal, yes or no?" you'll get some data, and if you ask, "should women who have an abortion face punishment, yes or no?" you'll probably get different data. I think people are scared of the vindictiveness that some states and Republican politicans have shown towards the subject. Outright vindinctiveness.

@gsoccer I do have a 15 year old daughter. Your candidate and your party are trying to take her rights away. Sorry to spoil your gotcha question.
Thank you for answering. I understand what you are saying but who is protecting the rights of the baby? A baby with a heartbeat that is moving. I think that needs to be considered too. It's not as if the baby chose to be conceived.

It wasn't a gotcha question. Are you always this defensive?

You got your answer. Have a nice night.

Abortion is going to be everything in this election. People can talk about the central issues being the economy and immigration all they want, but when the rubber meets the road, it will be abortion, ONCE AGAIN, that derails the Trump train.
See…you continue to prove my point!

You aren't capable of having an actual discussion on hard topics are you? By continuing to bow out everytime i ask you a legitimate question you look weak.
Don't mistake a total lack of interest as an inability, and I'm not concerned with your opinion of me in the slightest.

What about the rights of the baby? And I believe that the overturn of Roe V Wade gave the rights to each state to determine abortion laws. Are you really that ignorant?

I believe Trump's stance, as is the Supreme Court's, is to leave that issue up to the states. I think the federal government should have less power and the states should have the ability to determine that.
Giving states more power has led to some imbalances and out right failures of governance in History. The Articles of Confederation and the Confederate States of America are two examples. Both created economic and legal problems because states began to act in their own best interests instead of what was best for the nation as a whole. Our government has deteriorated into a very inflexible organism now because of a tyranny by the minority no matter the party. Even South Carolina has suffered as specialist interest groups have stopped legislation that may benefit the masses because it goes against their agenda or beliefs. Heck, we may end up resembling Greece or Italy before long.

Regarding abortion specifically...

1. Why not let medical professionals decide instead of lawyers?

2. You are correct that the child did not choose to be conceived. However, if the Government or society wants to take responsibility, it should not end at birth. If we believe in the sanctity of life, we should do what we can to support children and families. Provide for pre-natal and post-natal care. Increase maternity leave. Approve paternity leave. Invest in early childhood development. Put more money in schools instead of prisons. If we want to be the greatest country in the world, we can and should do better for our young.

He will dodge any serious question that requires him to possibly think differently. Its a legitimate question. Who protects the rights of the baby that has a heartbeat and moving inside the womb? The baby did not choose to be conceived.
I never said it wasn't legitimate. You seem to think I'm obligated to answer your litany of questions. I'm not. Others have answered your question, I'm not sure why you have such a hard on for my specific answers. But you're not going to get them.

It's a great day for the American justice system. If you commit crimes you should face consequences.
The irony in that. If Trump was not running for president the NY AG would not have charged him. This is very political and hopefully it will backfire come Nov 5th. Washington and politicians were built on crimes committed.

Yet, here you are again. Still deflecting.

You really don't believe this.

I look forward to the future cases to show even more that he is a piece of shit, and has always been one.
