A few things here:
I don’t think they are suggesting proof of citizenship every time you vote. It should be a one time thing when you
register to vote, which most people do at 18. Perhaps a one time verification for others.
It’s very easy to get a birth certificate if you don’t have one. I’ve done this to have extra copies for my kids and specifically used it when we had to mail birth certificates for their passports. Here’s the link in SC:

You either have to be a citizen or have a certain work permit to get a social security number. If the government wasn’t so shitty at most things, they could modernize their IT and we could do a very simple lookup by SSN and it could tell us whether or not the person is a citizen. That would make for a VERY simple verification - a super easy SSN lookup.
We really have to stop with the extremely low expectations for people. This stuff isn’t hard.
