I'm debating writing out a detailed explanation on all the global trends that can explain why "gas is currently moving up in the US", but i really think it's just going to fall on deaf ears.
Instead, I'll just say this: the price of oil is set globally, and a ton of factors go into what drives the price of gasoline up (i noticed you didn't mention the price of diesel, as that has been on a steady decline since November.) Refineries choosing to produce less gas in favor of other products (petrochemical, diesel, kerosene, naphtha, etc), could cause an uptick in gasoline prices. Or maybe, since we're coming up on the spring/summer, O&G companies know it's a time when everyone is traveling, and they realize a price increase during this time is just good business.
