Van Smith questioning Dabo (SIAP)

Is it bad that I honestly do not remember him?

Seriously - what position did he play?
Best remembered as freshmen safety making plays during Mop-up duty as a freshman in 2015? when we pummeled Miami and fired Al Golden. After that I don’t remember much except he was average to decent player

Why is it the former players that were lucky to be on scholarship are the ones that bitch. Ie daniel Rodriguez, now smith. And has been others that skipped mind.

This post is even worse. Look at the replies, a majority of people see this post and believe that the guy is employed by Clemson or associated with Dabo. Ridiculous
sad sick world we live in. The company I work for, like most, when you open a web page it pops up with a news feed. If you scroll through almost 100% of headlines are extreme sensationalized exaggerated headlines. Any times flat out lies.

“Shocking Ohio st news”. = Random report on spring practice

“New suspects in Stephen smith case” = a Article or quotes from 2015.

All things via social media are all about the clicks. That’s it. Dabo face with sensational headlines = a click.

We are surrounded by simple minded idiots.

10 years that would work. Now, no matter what you say, it just opens a bigger can of worms. I just think you don't address it at all anymore.
If you just keep the beans on the stove and don’t turn off the burner, they’ll just burn.

Address it and move on. The longer you wait, the longer the perception is you got something to hide.

Yea Van should probably just delete that. He’s way off base and keeps doubling down. I think it’s valid to criticize Dabo for not firing Danny Pearman immediately. That was not the first or last time Danny made comments like that. If Dabo is guilty of anything it’s being too loyal to his friends at times and probably being stubborn about certain things, but nobody that’s been around him extensively thinks he’s anything close to a racist.

He was out recruited quickly and wouldn’t be an offer now a days. He only played when Kearse or Greene were hurt or out of pure necessity from what I recall.

I’m sure he knows that as well.

If Dabo is so racist, why does he refuse to replace low performers via the transfer portal?

Why does he refuse to sign large recruiting classes and cut to make room for better players?

Why is he so adamant that his players get degrees and are prepared foe life after football?

It must all be an elaborate cover up

Like us all, Dabo has his faults, perhaps pride and stubbornness, but racism is the farthest description of him. Totally unfair
Yeah but we all know how this works. People who are motivated to find racism will twist words and logic until they have their narrative. And there are A LOT of people who are motivated to find it these days… And with social media, herd mentality comes into play and the next thing you know you have a shitstorm based essentially on a lie

Pearman repeatedly said the N-word for players to stop using it? Or he repeatedly used the N-word in an another way? Was it out of the blue or was he repeating what someone else said? You said this is not the first or last time he made those comments so just trying to clarify.

Pearman should have been fired because he sucked as a coach. But he is Dabo's loyal friend so....

Doesn’t help that the woke left is telling black people that all of their problems should be blamed on systemic racism. This stuff was all drummed up by the Obama administration and has reached a fever pitch after the BLM movement.

Anything that has a sensationalist headline, I just pass on by these days. Also, any article that has embedded tweets from random twats around the internet gets closed immediately as well. There's very little actual news these days, it's all just news commentary now.

Meh, guess we'll have to agree to disagree

It’s probably because Van is failing at life and frustrated. Most malcontents and losers throw rocks at the winners in life. It’s been going on since the days of Adam and Eve. There’s even political organizations that support these tactics. Communism, socialism and liberalism
Since you made it political--this is basically the entire Trump brand and it is destroying the conservative movement that is no longer conservative and just trying to dunk on people and never apologizing/showing humility/whining about victimization.

Commentary is killing rational debate. Anyone who still thinks every person should have his or her voice heard by millions, is just not a very practical person.

All of our leaders can use a dose of Jack Ryan strategy 101. Makes life A LOT easier.
You kinda make my point for me. That strategy used to work well. Now there are too many competing voices who will say and do anything to be heard.

Dabo, Kirby, et al. can't win these things in the court of public opinion anymore the way they could a decade ago. Jack Ryan wouldn't be able to either.

The news cycle churns so fast now, that it'll just go away on its own faster than it would if they made statements. Statements are now just something else to respond to. And we all remember what happened the last time Dabo issued a statement about societal issues in June of 2020.

The ignorance that social media has created astounds me. People will see Van’s post and believe it 100% without any context or doing any further research. If the racist claims against Dabo and Clemson are true, why doesn’t Van or others come forward with actual facts and details of these supposed racist actions?
It’s amazing how it’s always the most average ones and I’m willing to bet he thinks he was hindered from getting to the league or didn’t get some bump for a career he thinks should of been handed to him so he’s bitter.. Ain’t no way he’s real successful in life right now with all that running to social media feminine energy he’s got going on… People need to start fighting back on this slander bs.. I’d sue Van Smith for accusing me on social media like that of racism without taking the time like an adult to give that pic proper context

This post doesn’t make a lot of sense but I’m trying to understand your point. Are you saying the populist movement is full of losers who blame other people for their issues?

Pearman should have been fired because he sucked as a coach. But he is Dabo's loyal friend so....
He is also supposedly one helluva game day analyst. Don't leave that part out.

If there were anything to the accusations he should have been let go. But Pearman brought value to the program.

Put out a PR statement. Dabo does not do a good job handling tough subjects because he talks too much.

I’d rather control what I can control. Of course every talking head will do what they do. You don’t have to compete, just address it one time.

If you really think we can’t address things in a responsible manner, you are giving the mob the win.

Bullshit. Transparency will always win out.

I think he should’ve been fired for how that incident, innocent or otherwise, hurt the program’s reputation and could have cost us funding and recruits (did cost us 1 recruit). I was just asking if Pearman used the N-word in that same context repeatedly telling players not to use it, if he was just letting it fly bc others were saying it, or if he was using it maliciously against black people. If done maliciously, that’s a deeper, much more serious issue that does impact Dabo’s character

I have a picture with Dabo....hope that doesn't get out.
Wait until the internet gets ahold of this one...

I believe Pearman was mimicking a player in practice and trying to get him to stop using the N word.

@trich24 please provide a link showing when Pearman said it before or after cause there was only one incident that I have heard about.

Also BJ Goodson and Zac Brooks liked this comment so I guess that he agrees. Also, Marcus Edmonds brother is commenting basically stating that Dabo is racist

Van Smith also commented “there was countless things that happened in team meetings he could talk about but y’all don’t want to hear it” (paraphrasing)
Translation:

If I'm not getting as much PT as I think I should the coach is a racist.

I'd forgotten about Van Smith, and now will not pay attention to him at all. This guy has social media with just about every coach, which of course doesn't mean he was actually friends with them. Not sure how Black Sports decided to use the picture with Swinney for its thumbnail image.

I'm guessing Smith doesn't really have a relationship with Swinney, because if he did he could've just reached out to him directly instead making a fake personal appeal over social media.

This kind of thing, among others, is why I'm losing interest in recruiting and am finding my interest in college sports waning. It's just tiresome, and very little of it has to do with the school or even the actual team.

I'd suggest reading the comments...
It's like Youtube comment level of stupidity on there. Here's a really enlightening one. Glad this guy let us know that,

"What y’all failing to understand is you are the company you keep you can’t work with black athletes and them record your self saying we need to go hunting and talking about hanging black people from trees and then let them kinda people around your program"

Van Smith also had something to say about how there was no point telling his "stories" because "y'all all eat pork together." Now, maybe I just don't know some sort of slang, but what does saying something about how there's something wrong with eating pork suggest to you?
