Will there be college football? A new flurry of pessimism has arrived

Did you see my original post?
More people involved than players.
Some kids have and could have underlying conditions.

This is just my opinion.
You know the colleges are considering this as well as their insurance carriers. That's my point. Not saying I'm right or wrong. My opinion

Sure - I saw it and posted the other news from H1N1 days.

Clemson needs to identify those individuals and have a plan for them and how they social distance. If they are deemed too high risk, they should coach off the field, then another coach needs to step in and be on the field - GA and other guys can fill in. Next man up if they are too high risk.

I’m not saying your data is wrong. I’m saying likelihood of death is but one of several outcomes that colleges have to consider and they will be MUCH more cautious than you with regard to their fiduciary responsibility to the players and their families.

Also, what happens if TL, Pummachan and DJU all test positive the week before the South Carolina game? Still wanna play the season with that scenario?

Yes - we should play. It is a variable for the season and CFP committee will have to deal with it. The probability that happens is low.

Frankly I like the infection numbers because that puts us ahead of the game.

Any national championship this year would be tarnished if the top teams are hit with an outbreak during the season and lose a game or two thus resulting in a team winning the natty who may not be the best team under normal circumstances. There are all kinds of issues in playing and not playing...just a real mess.

It is a variable that everyone has to deal with. It is structurally manageable with a simple system like much of the country has in place with their business.

I am OK if things somehow do not break our way for some reason. But we for damn sure better play the season.

Confident that your college age kid wont get it from a football player and then bring it home to you or your partner? Hope you don't have any elderly parents living because they would be at risk if you had to go help them in an emergency situation. And just like that it can affect someone you care about. how about we all wear the gd mask and this can be over. imagine how infuriating it must be for donnie that New Zealand did better than us at the response to this. New Zealand

It is your responsibility that you or your partner or your elderly relative remains safe. It is not Clemson's responsibility. The guidelines are public from the CDC.

No one is saying that Clemson will not require masks. However, you can wear one, wash your hands, and avoid those with risk conditions. Wear the mask properly and it provides some protection. Keep pulling it below your nose or touching the front with your fingers defeats the purpose.

This will not be over until there is herd immunity or a vaccine ... and not even then (vaccines only 40-50% effective).

As far as New Zealand, what has that got to do with anything? An island nation in the southern hemisphere? You are badly informed to make such a comparison.

I’m confident that my daughter will be safe at Clemson. I trust the leadership at the school and know they are doing everything they can to promote student safety. But I also know her health history and am confident that if she contracts the virus she will be ok. I feel the same way about our players. But if a player wants to sit out for health reasons it’s their choice. I wouldn’t denigrate them for making that choice. From what I hear a vast majority of the players want to play and the parents want them to play.

On a personal level We wear masks around grandparents and anyone over the age of 65 to protect them and certainly wouldnt visit if showing symptoms. I would think our players and students would do the same.

You are spot on.

right, that's not how masks work but thanks for playing.

as for New Zealand, they followed the rules they were given by a government that is paying attention and ready. they have avoided many many deaths and are currently able to go around without masks and without risking anyone's health. shocking. is avoiding death something you want to be a part of or is the mask too annoying for you to wear?

I hear you. If it were only that easy.
There's exposures galore. No way to run a program and isolate the vulnerable to that degree. And you don't necessarily know who's vulnerable until it's woopsie daisy.

MLB hasn't figured it out yet and they are paid pros and much smaller staff and roster.

What do you mean "to that degree"?

It is not complicated to do this. We cannot stop for a small number of the population that may be at risk that gets through the screen.

As I said, I have no problem wearing a mask indoors but the reality is that they are not worn properly by the majority of the public - defeating their value.

Again, to compare New Zealand to USA on anything regarding this virus - an island nation in the southern hemisphere - has no meaning. To continue to say this shows you that you are completely uninformed.

In addition to dementia, I think Trump has Parkinson’s disease. So, no, I won’t be voting for Trump. Btw, that was some million man march in Tulsa! Got to hand it to those Tik-Tok Teens. They owned him big time!
So Biden's mental acuity is just fine?
